Thread: Nerf AFK-Performing
AFK performers are, well, kind of depressing to see. When I walk into the Coronet Cantina, over half the group is AFK and only few would talk, which makes it VERY depressing. I use a macro, but not an AFK macro. Reason being, it's a pain to have to punch in the flourish keys and talk at the same time, whether or not you have it in your hot keys. If I have to go AFK, I stop playing and sit down if I'm in DG, which is where I play mainly. I am opposed to AFK -performers.
- "If we didn't have AFK macro's, people on distant planets wouldn't get mind wounds healed."
- "...but allow it in places like Endor."
If visiting savage, wild, uncivilized, etc. planets set up a group and take a entertainer along with you. Make camps and let the entertainers heal your mind wounds. This way, the entertainer can get out of the cantina and see the world. This would also support the grouping more.
-"When you become a master, try making money. The only people that tip are in far away places. Are you going to sit there and wait for them? Three show up an hour, at most. "
hmm. I always get tips, especialy in big cities.
Btw, you dont spend all skill pointstobecome a Master Musiciant or Master Dancer. So you can chose another profession to make more money.
I make money by getting tipped, selling forages, completing missions...
Not only am I a master musician in the game, I am a musician in real life. The people who designed the class, didn't have a clue what being a musician is like.
Tips? Bands don't make tips. They should be paid by the Cantina every 10 minutes or so they are in the place. As their skill goes up, they get more money. The larger the crowd, even more money. (Call it, taking in the door)
People who play this class in this game don't want to be out hunting in groups. They want to be talking to people in cantina's. This is the whole arguement. Entertainers don't like afk people, because they can't contribute to the conversations. This is why entertainers can't be taken serious. Nobody wants us, because all we do is beg for tips, and complain about afk people taking our tips.
I don't know about you, but I tend to avoid beggers. Having the musician flags me nothing more than, a begger.

This could result into an easy solution. Let the entertainers gain credits for the amount of time they are playing in a cantina/hotel/bar, but
1) put a cap on the maximum credits you can gainper RL day
2) make the amount of money dependable on your skill, amount of Players listening, and perhaps include the time factor.
3) AFK people dont earn any money, and no experience points but still can macro
1) the payment of the mission itself isnt infinite so there is a cap
3) As I said take entertainers along with you, so you dont need any AFK in "twilight zones"
I am a Musician, my wife plays a dancer so I know both sides
, and you are right with dancers recieving more tips.
Quoting myself, People who are entertainers don't go hunting, they sit and chat in Cantina's.
Also, do you think people who go to Lok or Endor, who make 22k a mission really want to split it with the person who is only useful every hour or so?
The whole point of this is, you shouldn't need to rely on another profession to make money. If you are just a Musician, or Dancer, you are more of a burden to groups, because you just take their money.

Oh, I beg to differ!
"The whole point of this is, you shouldn't need to rely on another profession to make money."
For this you and I have come up with a similar solution (earning money idea)
"Quoting myself, People who are entertainers don't go hunting, they sit and chat in Cantina's."
Can´t generalize that. I have never seen an Entertainer who only wanted to sit and chat in cantina´s, nore have I ever seen a player who is only Master Dancer or Musician and didnt spend the skill points on an other profession.
"Also, do you think people who go to Lok or Endor, who make 22k a mission really want to split it with the person who is only useful every hour or so?"
Money isnt the only intention for traveling to Endor or Lok. Besides that, you can always talk and make a deal with entertainers on how much they get, if they come a long. The group usually can benefit from the other professions a Musiciant and a Dancer has.

This is my point all along. Me, as a Musician had to "sell" myself to other groups by picking up another profession. All professions should have a means of making a living without relying on another profession. Tips don't cut it.
I can make 60k a night as a pikeman

Waho, do you have a hunting skill?
Novice pistoleer only. It's enough to fight off whatever I'll encounter around Coronet. But I have friends who are Musician/Smugglers (seems a popular combo) and a lot of musician/pistoleers exist. I had smuggler but dropped it for ME.
But that is one playstyle. If you don't hunt and just want to sit in the cantina, you should be able to. I don't know that you should expect to make loads of money, but I do think you should make a living.
"Hunting" doesn't earn me loads of money either. Though mining does ![]()
Keep in mind that the economy can't allow an awful lot of money to come from "nowhere"
Tips are a great idea because it's just circulating the money. Tips are iffy because they are dependant on the generosity of others.
I have a feeling that the reason the new Entertainer missions have such low payouts is because of this. (Though I don't know why it was us who got the shaft
). Consider that any more money just being created from thin air would need to be accompanied by a sink.
Renewable performing licenses? Pay NPCs to dance/play with you in your band (no healing, but just like any NPC "pets" they give a group bonus)? If they fixed the mics and speakers in towns you could pay to rent them (turn the middle of town into a healing cantina)?
