Thread: Gig Missions are a joke and an Insult. Fix em or get rid of em
Do you evenget what I am saying? Ok, readthis slowly and THINK about it.
Forget about the Terminals, just the Nobel guy in the backstage of the Guild:Theater
1) type /Find Guild:theater
2) Go there
3) Talk to the Noble and get a mission
4) After he give you the mission, check the info.
a) Check the Payout, probably something 100-200 at most, right now... no more.
b) Check the destination you are suppose to go. IF it's even in-town one, that's just lucky, because it's usually another city. Just delete it, and try 3 again, should be another city this time... IF it IS indeed another city, my point will be proven very soon.
5) goto the shuttleport, and purchase
6) Compare the ticket price to the Mission payout, and dada See if it's worth the trouble/logic/sense whatsoever.
This ISWhat I am saying...
Yet you are talking about Taking 2 mission from terminals, and not to mention refresh over and overuntil you find missions are are In-towns. You mightbe right, they maypay well this way,BUT it is...
Totally Irrevelant!!!
Gig missions are a joke.
Delivery missions pay much more and require much less time. I would rather not have the missions at all than to be insulted like that. A, just-off-the-boat noob can make 1200cr a trip running delivery missions between Mos Epsa and Mos Eisley. It requires no skill. I work my butt off to make Master Entertainer and get incredibly close to Master Musician to find out that gig missions pay jack s***.
I say just delete them. They are counter productive to entertainers anyway. First off, they make you NOT want to group. I take a mission and pay 110cr for the shuttle. The gig pays 170. And I get to split that with 5-19 other folks in my group? No thanks. Second, they make entertainers leave after the mission is over, leaving empty cantinas. Third there is no indication of the progress you are making in your playing.
These are ill-conceived and ill-implemented.
The point is for master dancers and musicians to make decent money by playing in one place for a decent amount of time. If that happens, maybe they might actually want to play after becoming a master instead of having to dump skill trees for combat skills just to pay the bills.
What we have right now is a delivery mission that takes 5-15 minutes and pays crap.
I've simply given up. There's no better line of action, because obviously the devs simply don't care.
The musicians say hey, give us good gigs, make master musician worthwhile. The dancers say hey, let us get exotic gigs like dancing in jabba's palace. And what is the devs glorious solution? Lower the payout by HALF. And how's about those extravagant well payaing gigs? The devs even have the gaul to TAUNT US by making suggestive comments in the gig terminals like "Do this show and i'll get back to you with some better gigs" "everyone had to start small kid, don't worry, you'll get more money soon". And it matters sooo much now being musician. Ok devs, let's make musician/dancer/entertainer even MORE similar. We all say more songs! More instruments! Interesting gigs! And what do the devs do? make some new dance flourishes, and take all of the musician complaints, put them in a large tube, and BRUTALLY RAPE ALL OF OUR HOPES AND DREAMS. Yeah, so musicians don't get payed much in real life. Ya know what? NEITHER DO SOLDIERS! NEITHER DO BONTY HUNTERS! NEITHER DO MINERS! This ISN'T real life, this is a computer game that is supposed to be enjoyable to EVERYONE. I'm not enjoyin myself when a first day newbie can pick up a slither and make the SAME AMOUNT as someone who has spent months getting master musician. I've just lost all faith that the devs care about musicians, dancers, image designers, entertainers, doctors, or anyone else that doesn't do combat. Good job devs. Good job.
FYI: The payout may be smaller, But you can Do more Gigs in less time with the new terminal.
= More Credits!
I agree The Musician Class Needs A TON of work on it.
I guess they wanted the Missions to be more Fun than Rewarding.
I thing The Prices should Range From about 500 Credits - 700 Credits.
Just like the Destroy missions I think It should Look at your skill and update it accordingly.
2 things.
Yes, the gig missions are completely and utterly useless.
And the new flourishes for dances are pretty horrid.

My problems with gig missions:
1. Playing for 10 minutes without stopping. This means I cannot train anyone without starting the mission over, cannot play the song how I want to play it because I will run out of action, and I cannot switch songs or instruments. 10 minutes is too long to play one song! Let us take a break...make it 20 minutes but cumulative from all music played with stops in between or something.
2. The payouts are not bad...if you're solo. When you're with a large group everyone gets like 20 credits. If they all take missions it evens out, but try getting everyone to take a mission...
3. Sometimes the missions say that you need to use flare or something like that, seemingly implying that you have to use the lighting effects, but that never makes any difference... How about missions that con based on your musician/dancer level and pay more but get specific as to the requirements. IE- Play Ballad and do X amount of lighting effects...just a quick idea.
4.It splits up bands. People will get the whole payout to themselves if they are solo, and dividing200 credits between 10 people is hardly worth it.
What I like about gig missions:
1. Nice supplement to the tips. I'm going to be playing anyway, so this is just some extra cash that I wouldn't have earned had I not had the missions. Basically for doing the same thing I would be doing anyway (but I have to play the songs differently and cannot stop playing one song for 10 minutes)
2. Conveniently located terminals. Not sure about elsewhere, but in Coronet you can get missions right outside the cantina. Heck, you can leave the window open and take it in the cantina with you, and get more missions when the first ones are done without moving an inch.
3. Pleasant surprise for bandmates. Even though the amounts are tiny, people still think it's cool when they get a mission complete that they weren't expecting. This would be even better if the payouts were higher...but then again they would probably all be taking missions and it wouldn't be such a surprise when one is complete from another band member.
Didn't read everything so exuse the redundancy that I'm sure this is ...
I gave up on Musician Missions the day they came out.
I'm Master Musician , Master Medic , with Explore 4 from scout .. and Pistol Specialist / Ranged Support 3 , from marksmen.
As it stands , I can crank out 10 - 13k in credits per hour , solo'ing with the assistance of a couple of pets ... Compared to 1 - 2 (if lucky 3k) per hour on Musician Missions. That 10 - 13k are missions on Talus ... If I actually get a group and we go to another planet , and are after cash , then that amount sky rockets ...
Yep Musician Missions aren't worth it.
