Thread: From your Correspondent: inviting suggestions on gig missions
As I've posted previously in the post about Top-5 Issues, I will reitterate here slightly. The entertainer missions are a nice idea, however as everyone has stated in the past the money is not worth it. This on top of most things is easily solved, but as falls under my other complaint. No one entertainer can set themself aside from another, in any manner. I look different, I play the same instruments and songs, not at all a problem, but I also heal exactly the same as any other entertainer, and provide identical services.
The goal of musician gigs and missions should be to set individual entertainers apart. I really enjoyed the previous idea of having a reputation system. However how feasible that would be to balance is one thing. Essentially it would create entertainer based faction. I would really like to see musician quests, and also us being provided individual schematics, or songs. Like I noted in my previous post, perhaps make it have the same musical track as any other, however make it look different, this doesn't require much at all but does make people look at you. Adding a full new instrument would be simply incredible, but would require a lot of work. I know they're looking to add new songs and instruments in the future, perhaps they could look as adding some of them as merely quest rewards, as opposed to giving them to everyone. This would encourage entertainers that take their profession in stride, and enjoy it to make themselves stand out. Someone would seek me out to make them a unique instrument because I am skilled enough and have the schematic. They would also in turn seek out this goal themselves.
We've seen it recently with Ris armor, however it didn't prove to be very popular as of yet, I believe due to the difficulty of the mission. Though this is fine. The schematics could be traded/sold etc and would make for an interesting market, possibly make some of them wear out and only have certain number of uses.
The ability to add dynamic content is already there, its simply creating that content. And I believe we all understand that takes time. To see this reflected in the entertainer professions I believe would be greatly appreciated by all.
Regards and Best wishes

Hi =) another wierd idea from litle me =)
skip the mission terminals completely for entertainers =D
and make agencys offices in theaters and hotels.. let us belong to different stables where the entertainers for the same agency can effect the worth of their "missions".. in other words lets say we have an agency where 5 entertainer has signed up.. depending on how many and how well they preform their missions the better that agency become to work for and the higher the pay offs per gigg will be. So these entertainers has to come up with showcases to sell thrue the agency and to take their job seriusly..
depending on how well the entertainer also affects the status off the agency.. now here is lots off things to do with it but agencys would be more apropriat then blody machines and I belive that there is lots off potential in it as well for other ideas to take growth from this.. u could probebly have differences on the agencys regarding what faction u have and also an agency could give some bonuses to the entertainer in stats or anything.. and depending on what kind of agency u chose u get different bonuses.. u could have scum agencys that probebly treats u bad and pay off bad but gives u bonuses in enhancement.. these are just brief ideas but worth building on..
I guess this idea works best if its combined with my other one thats in the brainstorming thread..
well I thank the ppl that has read this post in this thread =)
take care and thnx =)
haha here I go again my brain couldnt stop.. its something Im suffer for .. but Ill survive =D
with the Agencys u also have the possibility to give meaning to upkeep the master title in any of the proffs and to give it content.. in the begining the noermal entertainers could get focked and mostly fail these .. so they need to use the cantinas where they should be.. but then u slowely work your self up and finaly get inte to an agency.. the agencys compete with other agencys and the better u get till u reach master the more u need to do to remain in one.. and the longer u remain the more benefits u get from them... and when u reach master title in either music or dance u can actually start benefitting from them for real.. and get acces to good things that u dont have till that.. here there is plenty of things to fill with content for the ones that already are master title in either music or dance and if this is combine with my other idea with the composing and also the other entertainer profs this gives splended of content or at least great possibilitys to make that..
eventually u could perhaps start an own agency when u reached enough goals as master entertainer in your own player city.. but just the fact that u should focus on letting entertainer be entertainer and use their world to play in caus face facts.. u didnt make chefs creating killer tomatos and evil flying meatballs only they can have as pets when fighting... guess why... cheffs dont do that.. cheffs makes food.. architect makes furniture and nott killer chairs.. uhm well maybe electrical ones though.. my point is.. we have an "in my opinion" extream great base as entertainer here.. u made it to be just that.. entertainers.. now continue with the same concept and start giving us the rest of our world..
I like the ideas of the buffs and its great that they have been made better .. thats good .. and I love the streat performing theam ideas.. look at the music and dance bussiness of today and see whats there bring your ideas from there rather then eq and daoc witch havnt even comed close to having a musician as actually a musician or dancer as dancer.. let these profs be what they aer but now when u have all the things in place go deeper in it.. enlarge it for us.. we dont belong on the batlefield more then cheffs do but we have a great and rough world that is missing here.
take care and
thnx again all the ones that read this post =)
hmm guess I couldnt hold my self back ..couldI =D
intergrate the needs of entertainment in other proffessions and things.. we are in showbizz.. we are good for comerce.. let dancers be able to do catwalk shows for different tailors and make it nessecary for merchant to have events or to player citys to gain benefits like in financial lower the cost for the city if they thrue an agency areanging something.. and there the diff agencys also have different benefitts depending on how good or bad it is and how good its artists are .. wich in it self costs but still makes it worth it.. let the master title ppl be able to have and make those posters Imentionedabout in the brainstorm thread and the possibillity for merchants and crafter to have their name on those as comersial.. make static points in the citys where they can be put up for fees of course and the better the artist is the better oportunitys the crafter or merchant get in that poster.. comercial is all today and fame is a huge factor of it..
these proffesions has so much more then just buffing and healing as important.. let ppl gain great xp benefits in their area if they make theses arangements or even neccesary to go on with certain stuff make it open up some new oportunity for them .. crafters make good money merchants make good money .. its a natural thing .. let ppl need the entertainer in more then just healing and buffing.. I think thats one big thing thats missing right now.
well folks..
take care and
thnx again =)
I read a lot of posts on forum, i discussed in the game with a lot of entertainers, master or not, and with other professiosn before started to write on this thread.
Before entering in the subject itself, i'd like to set a few things concerning the game in which the entertainers professions are involved.
1/ The game is now quiet mature. Time has passed by and now we can have a clear view of how players interact with the entertainers professions. They come to cantina and get healed or buffedthe most quickly as they can, without a word except than "play or buff pls?", then they go out for hunt and sometimes they tip. With the episode of the holocron, they have been greatly satisfied. They were laments that it was hard to find entertainers to get some healings, and now they have a lot of them in the cantina. They have also a big advantage, almost of this people are afk so they recieve free healings which allow them to spare momey to buy weapons, armours and so on and getting doctor buffs. So entertainers may only count on some RP players willing to pay them or disccuss with them during the healing process. As they are few, most of players who has worked this profession found it the most boring in the game.
2/ This game is set for casual gamers. That means that the policy is to allow a casual gamer to have the same advantages than an hardcore player. So every suggestions that will allow adantages based on gameplay time cannot be taken into account.
3/ We are all playing in Starwars Galaxy. That means that we must think about what must be the place of the entertainers profession in such an environment. What are their motives? How they deal with the GCW? And regarding gig missions what canthey be?
First who can ask for entertainers in the GCW and what for?
- Cantina patron to entertain their customers.
- Merchant or guild to promote their shops, for advertising, for business fests with important customers.
- Politicians and Mayors to attract people in their town, tobuild up a cultural and artistic life.
- Crime lords to entertain themselves.
- Sports Evenement -racing course-
- Military show -to streighten the moral of the troops-
So Entertainers are people of connections with both the most powerfull people in the galaxy (politicians, merchants) and their darkest counterparts (crime lords). Entertainers may only be performers, but we can also imagine them as a Mata-Hari. Especially for image designer able to provide disguise to other or for themselves. They are the gate between two world and people must go and seek for them to have informations. Check the episode 2 when Obi-wan go to a cantina to find informations. Cantina are since the dawn of times places to collect informations. You want to contact a smuggler, be invited to a important ceremony,go to an entertainer and ask him a way for it.
But entertainers have their own goal too and the most common one is to become famous. The most famous they will be, the most powerfull people they will be asked to entertain and the most money they will earn.
Now the missions must reflect this:
They must take into account the skills of the entertainer and according to it the rewards too. But rewards doesn't need to be just money. As i stated below entertainers are people you go towards when you needed something. We can imagine that gigs missions can give a mix of money and a schematics or an object that will be needed in a theme park quest. So real players will have to contact entertainer. Byexample, master entertainer or masterimage designermay have obtained the schematics of the vehicle customising tools that only a master artisan can build up. Or let's have the entertaienrs give a healing mind schematics to the medical professions or the loudspeakers schematic to architect for a limited use. Without making entertainers crafters they can be providersof new schematics because they get the rewards by one of theircustomers.
Let's eventake the example of some very rare ressource in the game, Ris components, Krayt pearl and Jedi cristal. Some Quest mayask to go to a specific planet and may give such rare loots randomly. Thanks to their mission entertainer will become more fun to play. We can imagine to earn decorative object as well such as paintings. Furthermore, players may be able to find more often entertainers on further planet. And in order to avoid people to stay on the planet in order to collect tons of rare items, make those quest reachable only when take from another planet that the one you are on.
For the money part let's say that quests on the same planet will give a small amount of money from 150 cr to 1Kaccording to the level of the entertainer. And for other planet quest the same basis modified by the cost of the travel. And if a special loot is given then the amount may be halved.
Here are my two cents to this thread

Entertainer Missions: Cantina Agents and Becoming a Star.
Entertainers, Dancers and Musicians can register with an Agent located in each cantina to receive a basic hourly wage for performing there, with the possibility of being voted “Star” of the cantina by the patrons, on a weekly basis.
Allowing performers to earn a wage for playing in a cantina and to be voted Star of the cantina would have multiple benefits for players of all levels:
Novice Entertainers would be able to earn money for doing their job: entertaining. It would help spread performers out to static city cantinas besides Coronet and Theed, as well as giving audiences an incentive to visit the other cantinas.
Novice Dancers and Musicians would be able to have a crack at the “big time” by becoming Star of a Player City or less popular static city, before vying for fame in Theed, Coronet, or the more popular Player Cities.
Master Dancers and Musicians would be given an outcome to work toward each week, once their experience/skill grind was complete. They’d still be earning money, they’d have a crack at the rare loot rewards of being a Star, plus they’d enjoy the bragging rights of being voted Star.
Dancers’ guilds could promote themselves based on the number of Stars in their employ.
Player Managers could help promote Dancers and Musicians and organize people to vote for them and manage their followings.
1. Cantina Agents.
Cantina Agents are an NPC in each cantina. Anyone with Novice Entertainer has the ability to “Register” with a cantina agent to perform in that cantina. Once a performer is registered in a cantina, they receive a a small hourly wage for playing or dancing in the cantina.
A Cantina Agent can be placed in a player city cantina by the Mayor of the city. This will give performers a reason to populate player city cantinas, and give patrons a reason to visit them.
2. Hourly Wage
A basic, simple wage is paid to any performer who was consistently playing or dancing in the cantina where they were registered. At the very lowest level, the wage is 500 credits per hour of solid performing. Grouping and flourishing modifiers are applied to the wage, just like to the experience gained from performing. So, flourishing regularly and grouped with twenty people who are all performing, the entertainer might make three times the wage, or 1500 credits per hour. Modifiers based on the dance/song performed would also apply. The higher the experience, the higher the wage.
This isn’t meant to be an incredibly high wage, to avoid replacing the need for tips or other income. It’s just meant to represent a cantina performer being paid for working by the cantina itself. The real value of registering comes once the performer reaches Novice Dancer, Novice Musician or Master Entertainer: Becoming a Star.
3. Becoming a Star
Once a performer becomes Novice Dancer/Musician or Master Entertainer, they gain the ability to compete with others to be voted “Star” of the cantina. Any character in the cantina can vote for a performer who is (a) registered with the cantina’s Agent, and (b) is present within targeting distance.
The votes are tallied at the end of each week, and the performer with the most votes is the Star for the week. They receive an added multiplier to the hourly wage, with the rare possibility of a special loot item reward: a dance buff modifier skill tape, a decorative item or a piece of rare clothing.
Players can change their vote for star as often as they like, but the only one that counts is who they’ve chosen when the votes are tallied at the end of the week. This would prevent “stacking” the ballot box or exploiting by voting multiple times.
Jeff Coleman
JeffColeman,
Nice ideas.I'll put them, and most other ideas in this thread, into my Big List O Ideas for the Devs.Would you envision that someone could run for Star more than once? Would there be any "termlimit" at all?
FWIW, in the past, the devs haven't shown much enthusiasm for "cantina salary" proposals. But yours has a somewhat different twist, so again I'll be happy to pass it on.
Thanks,

Missions just aren't that fun - none of them are. While it may sound all exciting initially, computer-generated missions will probably never be that much fun in the long term. Performing once for the Emperor may sound really neat but rinse-and-repeat any type of mission a dozen times and it's just boring. That's at least my opinion.
What I like about the entertainment profession is helping out and contributing. Healing wounds and BF in cities, camps, player cantinas and buffing is what makes our customers happy and that is the greatest reward of all. Nothing is more fun currently than having hoardes of soldiers pouring in for a quick (30sec) mind buff and then hanging out enjoying the atmosphere. With the 30sec speedbuff, I'm actually making about 80-100k per night at the player city where I perform. No computer generated "dance" mission will ever be able to reward me more than actually helping people out in the GCW or just PvE.
P.S. PLEASE COME BACK JULY WE LOVE AND MISS YOU!!
P.S. PLEASE COME BACK JULY WE LOVE AND MISS YOU!!
If they paid for travel money, people would spam that in getting money, unless they madew it go away if you destroy the mission.
I liked the idea of having the cantina paying out money for a certain time ![]()
also: The level/music/instrument/length i like.
