Someone mentioned that combat classes spec novice entertainer and grab a slitherhorn just to heal their own wounds.

I seriously doubt this is the case.

Novice skill requires sacrificing 15 points, thats a hell of a lot just to be able to heal yer own BF and mind wounds when there isusuallyanentertainer in any given cantina most of the time.

Most players dont tip, i have no problem with that, after all, tips are a voluntary donation and im sure that most of the cheapskates would simply walk in, sit down and listen to be healed then wander off rather than going to all the hassle of speccing a basic skill and buying an instrument.

Personally i take everyone at face value, if someone joins my band i will go out of my way to accommodate them, lower the song if necessary. If someone DOES want to join just to heal up his/her own wounds then so be it so long as they arent rude about it or lie about it.

The more the merrier i say

On the original question, if they're 3rd profession, no big deal. If they play slitherhorn, no big deal. But...

...if they're AFK, they get booted. We've gone as far as to pack up our gig (dancers and musicians) and move to another cantina in town, leaving one entertainer behind to direct the folks coming in to go visit the cantina where the REAL entertainment was.

I wish we could have an auto-accept duel after a certain amount of time passes so we could DB the AFK'ers and put them out of our misery.

I have no problem playing down for people who are actually there to play. Even if they are only there for self healing. I've seen quite a few people become regular entertainers who just started by coming in to heal themselves, got a band invite and a few pointers from the band and stayed in the cantina for days. (when i started out in beta entertainer was hardly on my list of starting professions) If they're there and having fun they are contributing to the atmosphere. Most of the people who only care about getting healed and getting out are more than happy to have the 15 skill points back when they realize that they heal faster by listening to one of the skilled musicians and not listen to themselves playing SW1. It's not like I expect them to tip, they weren't going to anyway and it isn't like i picked up entertainer/musician for the income potential. They don't like SW1 anymore than we do. Now I won't hesitate to change the song to something else as soon as the unskilled player leaves the group.

On the other hand I won't play down for AFKers. I'm not overly fond of people playing AFK but I'll let people play whatever game they want to. I just personally don't understand the mentality of the AFKers. I'll leave them in the group unless i need the space for a live body but I'll limit my song selections to the people who are actually there. If an AFKer can't keep up that is not my problem. I'm not going to listen to rock all night so you can level. There have been a few people whith /stopband; /startband [bestsong] or /startmusic [bestsong]; type sequences in their macros. these people will always get the boot.
