Thread: Look see? We have a dev talking to us about our inspirations!

"We'd rather reward the ATK performer with better abilities that can only be achieved through active participation (resulting in an interesting performance, of course) rather than punishing or eradicating the AFK performer (who, in the end will provide inferior but useful services)."

Let's take a look at the new AFK doc bots... likely won't use enhancers so will provide inferior but useful service and still buff.

Let's take a look at their attempt to reward ATK sampling, you get a pop-up asking you to move to a new spot and you get a brief and slight bonus to sampling... but you can ignore it and keep right on AFK sampling right where you were...

In the end the AFK bots will provide an inferior but useful service by doing the same buffs... we will just get some way of enhancing those buffs because we are atk.

I fully expect answers to these, I'm not backing off on it.

I want answers and I think they're long overdue for most of our issues.

Somebody needs to talk to us more than once every 6 months.

What really gets me incensed on this is the extreme lack of feedback we get and Helios is a posting madman in the Commando forum. Granted, it's known what's going on with the CU in regards to Commando (and it's allowed to be known to the player base), but still, they basically have a dev they can ask questions of quite often, and we don't get a sniff of a dev in here.

Well, I guess I shouldn't say "we" anymore. I've decided I'm going full combat (I'm too lazy to grind to padawan to open a second char slot, and I won't ever give SOE 2x the money and I don't wanna start over on another server.) Cantinaswill never have the atmosphere we had at launch ever again, and that's reason enough for me to go full combat (although the 3000 health thing will be nice too.)

I'll still support you guys fully (no going to an AFK bot for me!), and I'll still whine and complain hereuntil this profession gets the goodness it deserves.

Way ahead of ya. I've already nearly shelved my Entertainer and gone full force (pun intended) into Jedi.

I'm tired of throwing energy at a Dev team who could care less that my game experience totally sucks at this point.

And if they do care, they don't say **edit** to us. So what good is caring if nothing happens, and nothing is said to us. They may as well not care, then.

Anyways, I'm going all-out combat. Maybe someday playing my Entertainer will be fun again. Maybe someday I'll mean something to other players in this game again. I just couldn't take being looked down upon, or chastised, or treated invisible while just trying to PLAY this game.

So fine, Jedi all the way.

Best of luck with your combat endeavors, maybe I'll see you on the battlefield. It seems like the best way to have fun with my friends now, because nobody hangs out in cantinas anymore. They're macro zombie flophouses. And the Devs are AFK.

I have a big concern too about that post...

they are not addressing AFKers entertainer and they justify them

if i remember right...

when characters where afk looting skill tapes in some caves devs addressed that problem in some weeks

when jedi where macro afk their skills inside houses devs addressed that problem in some weeks

when AFK macro killed a profession and most of the sociality inside cantinas for over a year devs justify it

i'm also curious to see what will become a musician or entertainer... if things continue as it is now, with all emphasis in combat and none for social professions i can alredy envision musicians and dancers perform in DWB while other people in group are fighting... but for sure it will resolve the AFK issue

There is no legitimate gameplay reason for recursive macro functionality to be in-game; its only purpose is to allow AFK players to remain in-game and take opportunities from ATK players. AFK play SHOULD be eradicated, and I hope that the dev team can see why less crowding in heavily spammed areas will lead to increased player interaction and overall game satisfaction.

Problem is, if they no longer need to flo then even removing the recursive macro won't get rid of them

It would be nice if Entertainers actually had an enhancement to provide to the PvP community.

It is nice that Crafters can use us now, however I have (rather, had) customers that would spend hours PvPing - and dying over and over again, coming back in and getting mind buffs over and over and I'd get tips with every return visit. I only got one bank tip yesterday, not sure about the cash tips.

Inspiration buffs are useful, but not to ALL players. Most of the PvPers are done with their character development and if they go out to PvE it usually is for high end loot or a challenge... not for XP or FP.

Something like abonus to damage, accuracy or defense would be cool... you could even have dancers and musicians provide different bonuses...

So much for dreaming...
