Thread: Announcement about changes to Entertainers

The fact that we might've caused a delay with our input only means this: the devs are listening to us! And that's a good thing.

Well, while I won't reveal any details about what has or hasn't been shown to us, I'd just like to say that no matter how perfect anything that's been shown to us could be, we care enough about the professions that we'd be putting in a lot of time to make it even better. Yes, we're volunteers, and the fact that we're crazy enough to volunteer for such a position means we like putting in our time for this sort of thing.

Absolutely true. The Devs are listening, which is awesome!
I'm just worried about my Corrs and whether they're being taken advantage of ![]()
The apparent idea was that the changes would be ready this week, provided their plans were completely taken as gospel. I think it's safe to say that you Corrs will have *some* discussion over various ideas, and given how badly we've wanted and needed aredesign, dedicating serious time to player feedback would need to be considered.
I don't care if it's you guys who hold things off until it's all ready.
I do care that your feedback regarding the proposal wasn't really considered in the timeframe given to the general public.
Eh, I just hope it gets here tomorrow. I was told by SOETyrant to not give up yet, and that there'd be positive changes this week. That's the last word I heard from a Dev, and I await further word on the status of all of this. Hopefully it won't be in response to someone voicing concerns over a change to our profession. Hopefully it'll be initiated by the Devs.
The good thing is that they are listening to our Correspondants.
I would guess that the bad thing is, what they originally had planned wasn't good enough or had some major flaws that our correspondants recognized.
Now, we're basically saying the same thing
We all already know how much SOE seems to know about what the Entertainers would actually want/deserve.
So, I don't think it's a stretch to imagine that thier original ideas weren't entirely inline with what we all would want.
So, we can be disappointed, but at least our Corr's are making a difference (And before, not afterwards!!).
I just hope that they're representing something that I would want
You can't please everybody though, and my opinions don't always seem to fall inline with most everybody else... so I'm not holding my breath.
I am, however, refreshing the forums every so often.
Just do me a favor and add "buff self" to the documents when you're all done... pretty please!!
Maybe they won't question it, if we tack it on at the end.

May the force be with you.

Which, logically, makes me wonder how ready this announcement was in the first place.Anyhow, off I go. Don't think anything is showing up today or tomorrow. I'm betting on next Thursday. Figures.
I'll take that bet and raise you the following statement:
"Tiggs writes:
Unfortunately, our recent schedule was a little bit hasty...it looks like Entertainer development time is now currently estimated to be finished concurrent to, or Soon(tm)after the release of Star Wars Galaxies 2: An Empire Probably Still Divided. In the meantime, enjoy your new jukeboxes! You might have that many songs in your repertoire by the time your grandchildren are playing SWG 6!
~~Do not meddle in the affairs of dev's...for thou art mere subscribers, and there art hundreds of thousands more, verily with more accounts than you!~~"
Seriously, though, I love our correspondents, and the devs have been doing much better about giving out information when they have it. I look forward to the announcement(s), and I'll keep fiddling away until we get our love. Been here since day one, first Master Entertainer on Eclipse, and I have never had a thought of dropping it.
EQ2, CoH, and WoW can not compare in their wildest dreams of the community SWG has. If nothing else, I'm glad I tried all of the aforementioned so I could realize that. I have always maintained SWG until I could find a game that replace it for me, and I've never had a doubt that we've got the best of it. NOW GIVE WARRYYR HIS ANNOUNCEMENT!

PoetDancer wrote:So let me get this straight...The developers had something, but the correspondents held it up because the correspondents thought more needed to be added to satisfy the correspondents? The correspondents are not us. The correspondents have their own ideas about where this class needs to go, which may run counter to where many of us out here want the professions to go. I feel that if it is something this important, it needs to be put before us, all of us ASAP so we may consider it, post our feeback, and make it work.I don't trust behind closed door sessions. I want it out here for all to see.
I understand your concerns, Sirii. Actually, we (the correspondents) have discussed with each other how much we'd like to share the information we've seen with the communities to get your direct feedback. We've also brought up to the devs that we'd like to get it out in public whenever we can, the sooner the better. On the other hand, such things cannot always be shared in public because they may reveal other information that's not ready for public consumption.
Rest assured, however, that all of us put aside whatever personal thoughts we have about where the professions should go to put forth what we see the community as a whole as needing. We draw our support directly from these forums and make sure to check ourselves often to make sure "is this what I want, or what the community wants?" And it's just these types of things, the ideas from the community that we've been presenting to the devs, and that they seem to be truly listening to.
