First of all, I want to thank all of you for your love and support. I truly appreciate all of the concerned replies I've gotten both here and in-game.

This post is mostly to reply to what has been written on this forum, however there is a second one that Sweatyclimber wrote on Bria where there has also been some feedback.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Bria&message.id=331808

Be forewarned the rest of this post is going to be made up largely of quotes from previous posts and my replies to them. (Sorry in advance for feeding a troll or two.)

PoetDancer wrote: "What you have to understand Liloman is that the players who disrespect you are the same players that eventually get kicked out of PAs, permabanned for duping credits, exploit fanshot..." Ah, I wish this were true, but I've had even some RL friends who don't appreciate entertainers in Galaxies. I've done all I can to set them straight about it, but even the most honorable of people can have poor opinions of entertainers. (although largely this friend's opinions can be traced to AFK'ers concentration and spamming crashing his computer a few times.)

Cuality wrote: "can anyone else remember the days when you could have a conversation in a cantina? when the dancers would talk to you while they danced? or when there were bands that would play and have a tailor lackey make them matching outfits?" ... "Oh well, another noble death by the desire to be a jedi...and people wonder why the emperor wanted to kill them all, i bet he was a dancer before he got into power" hehe I noticed that you're an Imperial. I just wanted to say that YES, I remember all of that, and that I was surprised at first when I noticed how many Imps in-game support the arts. Congrats. I may be a Rebel, but I do have a healthy respect for all of you Imperials out there who have qualms about db'ing a novicemusicianRebel who made the mistake ofpumping a few stims intoan overtfaction member. 8-) (hey, you wouldn't think that was an actual experience would you? )

Kirah wrote: "Please, please, dear Lilo, reconsider! Come join us in Veritas. You know we adore you and you would be surrounded by appreciative rebels! And I promise to stay more than 20 minutes after you get there - I swear!" ..."I'm teary eyed..." Believe me even as I wrote my original post I was next to crying myself. Luckily for my image some of my dormmates came in and beat some sense into me. 8-b But seriously, I don't want to do this, but there is a level of abuse that I'm just not willing to take. If I am ever hunting on Naboo and I need to heal up some, I'll definitely drop by Veritas. For the most part though I intend on hunting mostly on Tatooine now, so much of my healing time will take place in the Drunken Tusken. But--and this goes for all of you out there--if there is a big entertainer event, I'd love to be included, so if you happen to be short a master musician please contact me.

Timsgta wrote: ... "if there were no entertainers then pepl would be in big trouble every where u go ud see pepl with black minds not able to (do) very much because alot of what pepl do does require mind!!" ... "the nerve of some pepl, whats gonna happen is all the entertainers are gonna get pissed and leave the game, sad sad sad day" Indeed. I have found that this black bar phenominonhappens a lot regardless because of several reasons: #1 some people just don't like spending time in cantinas and only go to one when forced to go, #2 All the "entertainers" are gathered into 3 cantinas throughout the galaxy so they can get as much xp for their entertainer grind as possible, #3 they are running back from being mind-diseased by a CM or a Rancor so they can get healed by and collect money from the hologrinders. I have faith, however that one day people will have respect for entertainers and when that happens I will again take up my place as a Master Musician.

Musicaldina: Great post, I feel for you. what can I say but /agree.

This post is getting so long I'm going to have to break it into two...but let me conclude this one by throwing out my food for the trolls.

Neothehutt wrote: "I find it amazing how angry people get over others play styles. I bet you people don't like: Gays, Transvestites, Goths, Highly Religious People, Anyone that is different" I believe you'll find most true entertainers to be reasonably accepting of just about everyone. We ourselves are a mixed bag of people. I entertained for/with all thepeople you mentioned and more. I may not haveagreed with every one who came through the cantinas, but we're all people, and we all deserve respect until we prove to others that we don't deserve that respect. Also, if you're looking of intolerance, check out Aorae's posts in the Brialink I posted above. Neothehutt wrote: "Dont let the door hit you on the way out." I haven't done NPC cantinas for a long time, and Player Cantinas don't have doors, so I think I'm pretty safe.

Ok, we're about half-way through now. Stick with me here. 8-)

I am a Master Musician. I am also a Novice Dancer, and a Novice Image Designer. Entertaining has always been and will always be my favorite part of this game. I have watched the Musician, Dancer, and ID professions degrade from being fun, entertaining, social, and friendly, to what it is now; a wasteland of afk people that never do anything but stand there and play or dance or macro grind ID, they don't even speak except to spam for tips, heals, or someone watching them.

I will say that the entertainer profession has become boring, but only because of players like these, who really do expect something for nothing. No one is going to tip an entertainer who doesn't do anything but stand there and expect to get paid. I, as well as many others, on the other hand, try to chat with our customers and each other, and have a good time, because unlike what some people obviously think, there is more to this game than fighting and gaining experience. Some of the most fun I have ever had was just hanging out in the cantina with some friends, not getting any xp at all, but we still played and chatted for hours and had a great time! That's what thisbusiness is all about. Not getting xp, not healing you, not doing your hair, not doing anything but what WE have fun doing. All that holocrons ever did was ruin it for us. I like to believe that's one of the reasons holocrons are being changed.

If you actually take the time to sit down with a group of about 5 or 6 Musicians and a couple of Dancers, you will be entertained! Why? Well, for one, the music actually sounds GOOD, believe it or not. The devs didn't intend for it to be played by 20 people spamming flourishes every which way. No, band flourishes are there for a reason, and not just to take away your xp by spamming them.

I want to know how a doctor can heal mind wounds? When I'm stressed out after a hard day at work, I don't go to my doctor, no, I come home, I sit down and do one of the only things that helps me relax. I listen to MUSIC!

I couldn't agree more. I started this game about a month after release as a scout but being a musician in real life I couldn't resist and picked up novice entertainer pretty soon after. When I first heard about the purpose of the entertainer class I couldn't understand why anyone would want to pay money for a gameand just stand around in a cantina all day waiting for people to come in. It turned out that I hadmany of mymost funmoments in the game role playing in the cantinas, chatting with all the dancers and watching/listening to the band do group flourishes. I never really concerned myself with XP and have earned each and every bit of what I have at my keyboard without ever once using a macro.Heh, maybe that's why I'mstill not a master. It doesn't matter though, I just had fun socializing with the other entertainers and with the customers.

I realize though that I've barely pulled out my horn in the past couple of months. Reading your postjust brought up everything that I had subconciouslybeen thinking: it's justbecome boring. Why? Because everyone is AFK. I walk into a cantina and there is no conversation at all anymore. Not from the entertainers and certainly not from the customers. So I walk into the cantina and try and get a conversation going. Silence. I wait around for 5 minutes and then leave. At least if I go to Dantooine I can find a hunting group andthen have a little live interaction. New songs and instruments will be great and eagerly received but really that's not the solution to this problem at all.

Now I KNOW that there a lot of entertainers likeme still out there who want to socialize but I'm getting the feeling that they're having the same problemsand so don't even bother to hang out in the cantinas anymore. It'ssimply boring to be at your keyboard staring at a bunch of AFK zombies. Maybe I just need to seek out these other entertainers. Maybe I've just been lazy , but I miss the days of walking into any cantina and making new friends. I'm not saying it NEVER happens now but it's become more rare and that's sad.I'm praying the Jedi revampwill make all the holo-tainers go awayand things will get back to how they were.

All that being said I still have a few friends in the game who are entertainers and roleplayers and every chance I can get to play with them I do! I'm not planning on dropping any of my musician skills either .

PS - sorry for pretty much just repeating everything you wrote but like I said, I feel exactly the same way.

Okay, I'll pick up with Hydzar's post.

Hydzar wrote: lots of great stuff ... "Today i play only RP."... "Once again i feel sad to have read another retirement post. But retirement or cancelling seems to be the only fate of entertainers players" If only this wern't so true. However even the RP'ing is leaving the game somewhat. It was always my policy to start out every conversation with my customers with RP. If they went along with it, that was great, if they didn't that was fine too. Sadly as time goes on, fewer and fewer people are RP'ing.Sometimes Iwonder if we are actually playing a MMOFG--Massively Multiplayer Online Flame Game.

NewJedi wrote: "Sorry to see you go. I hope you'll reconsider. I get the occasional rude cusomer too, but by and large people are pretty nice to me, especially when I'm buffing them. I've been pushing the devs for new entertainer content, and at least they seem to be listening, at least a little. More details to follow -- but, as always, don't hold your breath. " Of late I have been bogged down not just by rude people, but also by apathetic people, and they're almost worse...instead of sticking up for either side, they stand around and let events pass by without ever doing anything to try changing the flow of things. As I said, I look forward to when the entertainment profession gets some love from those in power, but that day doesn't appear to be coming anytime soon.

Ack, I've probably bored you all to tears by now, and besides, my fingers are getting tired. I'll try to sum up these last few posts w/o too many quotes.

ToLei and Doasa: thanks so much, it's been fun. Good luck to you,and if you ever need anything I'm always willing to help. All you have to do is ask.

Kalyandra, your post was very well thought out. The opinions you state in there are very similar to my own, thanks for laying them out in such a clear way--I couldn't have done it any better.

Ah, Sartinius. You too were one of the first Master Musician friends I had. Your post sums up much of what I was thinking too. I've wondered what happened to SWG being for the "casual player." It seems to me that the entire method for becoming Jedi is geared toward the power gamer. And what you mentioned about how the community "...often thinks of us merely as a means to alleviate their battle fatigue or to heal their mind wounds or to give them a buff..." is so true. To many community members we may as well be an NPC credit-sink...some people would be happy to have mind wounds and battle fatigue be just like damage to a vehicle. Stop by a repair facility, pay a few credits and you're ready to go again. Now so far as the guy who was so rude to me, I nearly posted his name to begin with, but then I realized that by doing that I could cause him more grief than he caused me, and I don't want to be a jerk--I just mentioned it because it was the final straw for meseeing just how low the respect for entertainers had gotten.

Kirah wrote about the Cantina Crawl and how much fun that was Those were some of the best times I've had since the hologrind started. I am horrified to hear that the leader of it may be leaving too, not that I blame him, because I am doing the same thing for the same reasons. If he does decide to go, we need to organize one last Cantina Crawl and dredge up all of our old entertainer friends who have also been crushed out of the profession. It would be great fun to do a Farewell Cantina Crawl...the problem will be deciding on a planet.

Well, friends, that about wraps it up. I just ask you to look to the future and pray that in time the entertainment professions will be fixed. If not, I expect that all we'll have to look forward to is the Farewell Cantina Crawl.

Love, y'all

Entertainers were awesome when this game first started.

Before the Holocrons, I could reliably go to ANY CITY IN THE GAME and find a Entertainer to hang with and heal me, and for the sake of passing time, chat. Talk about adventures, role play a little, see what was going on in our collective travels....

Back when you walked into a Cantina and received a welcome, and a quick grin and a smile. Drop a tip and sit for some relaxing music, and then have a goof on the emotes.

Blushing and throwing kisses and winking and whistleing. Cheering and applauding for the sake of making it feel like a real Cantina.

Now, I have to go to Theed or Coronet and amidst the spam of begging and WATCH ME I WANT FSCS! the game has clearly reduced itself to a pile of heaping burning rubble.

The reason some of the vets who chose not to holowhore don't care is because we are all jaded. Jaded beyond repair.

I am sorry for those of us who decided to be obscure and play out our professions without ruining our toon to try and catch the elusive Jedi, which is broken anyways.

Sorry. I saw this link in the Bria boards and wanted to share my feelings on yet another dedicated player who is leaving because of the nonsense of others, and the blatent ignorance of a dev team hell bent on profit.

It really is too bad.

As a Rifleman/Ranger on TC, I have more than my fair share of cantina time. In fact, now with PC cantinas and bartenders selling Chef food, i spend even more time in there. Let me tell you guys something.

I DO talk to my non afk entertainers. I tell stories. Hell. I *gasp* Rp. It's amazing. It's fun. ITs one of the things the devs DID RIGHT. The entire counter play between combat professions and entertainers. It's perfect. I love the songs, I love the dances, I love the rp. I tip my *#@ off to entertainers, mainly becuase I know so few people do. In fact there have been times I've said to myself "Well, time to go heal my mind and BF. Best do about 6 missions first to get the tippin' money." And then I straight walk in and lay down a grand to each one of them that isn't afk, and still 300 bucks to the afk ones. I find Combat Medics before I go and /duel them, just so they can lay into me with that -7 trillion mind damage stuff, JUST for the extra xp for the entertainers.

I love my support proffesions. I respect them. I pay them. I wish they had more fun, and I hope they do soon.

I live in this world. I exist in my own.

you guys will be missed

PS The hologrind has ruined many professions and to some the whole game. If you want to play a Jedi that badly play Jedi Academy or outcast

I hate to see you guys go....I go to the cantinas frequently to get healed and talk with people who are healing me...soon the holos won't be worth anything, the devs said so themselves I've read the link but cannot find it right now, and then entertainers can truly entertain again. I hope all of you true believers are still around then and if you do leave the profession now, that you will come back.

The situation is sad, there was a group of entertainers completely filled with AFK people (I don't know if all of them were hologrinding) but a new player came in and there was noone there to let him into the group. I went over and listened to him play so he could get some XP's but is was depressing. I'm not an entertainer, I'm working on Combat Medic, the reason is that I want my life and successto be determined by the weapons that I make, so I understand that people who are devoted to this profession getting upset about the hologrinders, I am too, it takes away the fun of talking with new people and meeting new online friends who might be able to help you in the future.

I hope the true entertainers will stay, but if they don't I would like them to return when the hologrinds are over.
