Bah, stupid enter key.... I'm scared to hit it now...
Jeepers Creepers2, I mean virtuoso2.
The dances will be:
exotic5
&
lyrical2!
Please excuse my sarcasm. I am glad to see that we are getting something fresh.

And you're probably right...
Exotic 5 will have 2 real flourishes, and 6 slots of "jiggly". As we already have Lyrical 2,this "new dance"will just be a repeat of the one we already have, base dance still broken.
Or it'll be the Riverdance...

Blues
Bluegrass
REAL Jazz (Virtuoso is close)
I'd like to see a "Solo" song that is basically a bunch of really cool licks and such and sounds best with only one instrument.
Those are the only things I can think of.

"I also prefer new songs (as long as they are better implemented than the new flourishes they added to some of the dances) over yet another attempt at fixing afking that will backfire "
That's just my point. What people REALLY want isa fixed AFK situation, but they're so afraid that the developers will mess it up that when they vote for their top 5 requeststhey go for the safe option of new content. That's why most talk on the forums is about AFKers and buffbots. If players REALLY wanted new content, that would be what was beingtalked about most. But it isn't.

Sure, I want an end to AFK'ing, but speaking only for myself, that's not my top priority. First and foremost, I want fifty new songs. And the ability to perform them in some unique way. And new instruments. And an exception to copyright law so that we can compose (heh). That stuff would all make being a Musician much more fun. The end of AFK'ing would improve life too, by reviving the social side of the profession, but not as much as fifty new songs. Let me put it this way: if I had to choose, would I rather play the same 10 songs with everyone around me at the keyboard; or get 50 new songs and have some people around me AFK'ing? I'd take the songs.
Hehe, I know we'll probably never have 50 songs. But since we're talking about what we REALLY want, that's what I really want.

Got to agree, any artistic soul craves variety. Whilst they're at it, a ballad that sounded like a ballad, and a folk song that sounded actually like folk, would be nice

while they are at adding the songs why don't they fix the changeband and startband bugs that bugs those with an instrument equiped but lack the skill to play a song or even if they have the skill where you start playing but cann't flourish cause you aren't playing yet the only way to stop playing is to unequip the instrument then reequip it and start playing but you had if they are playing a song above you skilll unless you leave the group. not to mention this same bug will cause a dancer if he/she has an instrument equiped to start playing a song even well above their level and use 2x the action and give no xp what so ever?? ( yes even the dance xp they were getting stops totally) then there is the startband one that the person that issues the command has to stop playing then restart to be heard or to get xp? yes all of these are repeatable and frankly a pain.
these are some of the things we have been asking for... is it too much to ask that they fix the problems caused when they fixed another problem?
I know one that bugs me is that I can get a higher paying entertainer mission with combat skills and that weapon equiped or in a group with my pets then what I can get just off of my music skill. Why cann't the payout of a entertainer mission be off of the persons music or dance skill like the combat ones are off of the combat skills vs how well someone can destroy things? I know they were once like that in beta and frankly in my opinion combat ones should be off of combat skills, artisan ones should be off of the artisan skills, entertainer ones should be off of the entertainer skills not all off of the combat skills as they are now

Reposted from my thread:
Something has been nagging me at the back of my head for a while now about our songs. Something I couldn't quite put my finger on. Now I understand:
Nearly all of our music has the same mood.
With the execption of Ceremonial and Waltz (kinda), all of our songs are in the "Upbeat, happy, dance-to" mood. Not all music is meant to be like this.
I've seen some beautiful Ceremonial songs (with lyrics) that have actually touched me in real life. I've also seen Waltz kinda put me into that dignified mood. I want more like this. Sad songs, serious songs, emotional songs. Something like...
A Requiem
A sad, mournful song but can still be beautiful and touching in a way. There are several situations in the game where I've tried to fit the mood with music, but found the songs to be too happy for the occasion. A deep and slow requiem could do wonders.
A Minuet or Serenade
Something like Waltz but with a more uplifting tune. A higher pitch, faster tempo, and more crescending flourishes to really give an emotional song at our disposal.
A Classical Song
Some might say this is what Waltz is, but there's a difference between the Waltz song and classical music. Classical has a wider variety of tempos and pitches. This could be the "better Waltz."
A Mariachi or Bolero
Ok, I said I want serious, but this just popped into mind as I was writing this. A very fast, very upbeat song would be great for public performances with dancers. Besides, who doesn't want to be in a mariachi band?
And last but not least...
A Factional Song!
I've been wanting to bring this up for a while now and should probably put this in the Cool Ideas thread, but oh well. I think faction recruiters should "sell" their faction's song to musicians (or maybe Entertainers to be fair to the dancers). It's not like a normal song: it can only be played with one "instrument" that's crafted by Master Musicians...a Holorecorder or something. It can only be played viaa droid's playback module (maybe...) and is an extra track on the module, even if you only have one installed. I don't know...something along these lines. I just want to play the Imperial March (and you Rebels can have that Redemption at Abridon music).
Just thought I'd throw this out there.

Yes, a few of us have completed the quests on TC. At last check, the rewards were not in yet though.
However, "Yuo can be a winnar!"

i'm really happy to hear that we will have new songs soon
but my main concern atm is more about afk/buffbot
before hologrinding i used to play at kaadara cantina, there where a lot of entertainer i made many good friends and we had a lot of fun playing/dancing togather...
no one is left, when i log my list show no one online...
another server...
as a good hologrinder i had to grind entertainer professions too, i have not done it afk and met new friends in the local cantina, all entertainer that where doing it for fun, cause they like to socialize and having funwith music/dance the hologrinding was just started and holocorns where quire rare so not many grinders around...
months passed and no one of them (the ones left) is still an entertainer...
i asked them why and the response was pretty the same... cause was no more fun with all the afkers.
is just my opinion but mytop priorityis about afk and buffbots
as said above i'm really happy about new songs, but my fear is that soon they will be played just by buffbots.
sorry for bad english

/agree (lots of good ideas in this post btw, Banthabutcher). One thought I had a while back was that if they added a /tempo command it would extend the range of song combination possibilities and moods tenfold. Imagine being able to slow down rock for a love song, or speeding up starwars1 for a "punk" feel.
I'm sure this has been brought up before, but I think a /tempo command would be a good compromise between the static flourishes we have now and the ability to truly compose music (which the DEVs said they have issues with).
