Thread: If they are going to get rid of buffbots they need to make buffs easier to obtain

Ok going to reply to 2 posts at once here.

First is to 2 posts up. We do hunt in groups, we have plenty of fun doing it. We have more fun when we have mind buffs. The only person who can heal Mind Wounds is a CM, yet it gives him like 200 Mind Wounds, not exactly efficient. We have Tanks, Ranged proffs, Docs, whatever, we have it. We also do much better, kill much faster, and live longer with Mind Buffs. That is what we enjoy. I do make friends with the live entertainers on the Server. After looking for 4 months, I actually know one now.

Fett, I agree with you. Yet the problem goes deeper. The Devs have horribly neglected Entertainers, this current Jedi quest is yet another example. Now many people prefer to point their fingers at Buffbots and AFK, rather then lack of content, the Devs and the game itself. Yet it's really more of a Chicken or Egg thing. On Scylla at least, it was more that the Entertainers left first, honestly buffbots arn't even that common. The ones that exist are hidden away in private Cantinas, you don't see them in Public ones.

Actually the other day, I was making a Harvestor run through Coronet, some people asked me if I would buff them, I said sure. Took them to the Cantina, after them, it was another group, then another. My 5 minute trip through Coronet turned into an hour and a half. I made 527k profit though so it was worth it.

Now don't get me wrong, buffbots where live Entertainers are is bad. Yet when fighting so strongly against them, please remember that not everywhere is the same.

I'm not saying this is what happened on your server, but this is what I've been seeing on Tempest. Many Entertainers are leaving the profession, or simply not interested anymore in performing with the current status of the game.

Why? The game simply isn't Entertainer friendly anymore. It's a viscious cycle. Players make buffbots, players get used to using them all the time rather than occasionally, players get hostile to Entertainers who may be out looking for an alternative source of income rather than performing, players go back to the buffbots.

I've had players come up to me, totally unaware that they didn't have to ungroup from their adventure party, and group with me to receive a buff. I've had players get frustrated and outright hostile because 'it's too complicated' working around the various buff bugs (watching and listening at the same time, etc), so they're going back to the buffbots. I've been patient with these folks, and with a great many of them, I've shown them what real entertaining is about.

But just as with any bad cycle, you can also encourage a positive one. Seek out live entertainers when you can, not just when it's convenient. Offer incentives if you would like them to travel to you. Be courteous.Interract with them. Invite them on your adventures. There are many on my server, for whom I will gladly drop what I'm doing and buff them. Simply because they've done exactly the above and become my friends.

Probably the one thing that turns me off of doing music buffs is buffing someone and that someone not paying for the buff. If you say something about it they will simply say they don't have any credits (keep in mind they are most likely standing there in full composite armor with a high level cert weapon). I ran into a similiar thing when I was a smuggler. Many people don't want to pay even if they have the money.

Personally, I think there needs to be a buff interface (for doctors and entertainers) that allows them to apply the buffs and set the price for the buff. If the customer does not pay, they do not get the buff.

But that is probably wishful thinking on my part.
