Thread: From your Correspondent: Your top issues?
General lack of anything to do (besides what you've been doing) once you reach master musician.
I enjoy logging in and playing music from time to time, but not enough to pay for it. If I average out my money spent vs. time played, I am paying about $5 to log in and play music for an hour or two.
Not planning on doing that much longer.
Your impressions is exactly why I don't have a problem with AFK macroers.
You've got to really like the system, which really means driving your own content (bands, gigs, events, etc), to dedicate the 100+ skill points to it. Part of that comes from achieving the skills in realtime, but it's not entirely based on that. People who are in player bands may have AFKed part of it, but that was just to get to the beginning of their life as a Musician.
As a functioning profession, it is not as "exciting" as being a Bounty Hunter or a Creature Handler. However, people can love it all the same. All it comes down to is whether you like the system or the features.
Liking just the features really means you'll eventually unlearn it. There's only so many times you can hear the same flourishes. If you're not really into it, no amount of new songs and flourishes will keep you indefinitely. Neither would being able to write your own songs. To you as a player, the "usefulness" just isn't compelling enough to dedicate the points to.
And there's nothing wrong with that at all. For the same reasons I'll never be a Bounty Hunter or Commando, others will never be a Master Musician or Image Designer.
It's just that it should be noted that the ideas for "making the profession better" can be very different between players who want to improve what they like already and those who really aren't into the core of what that profession is about and want to actually change it.
Allow the Master Musician to play all songs and instruments as the description says, or change the description. If the description is changed, I would still lobby for all songs to be known to the musician. To prevent a Master Musician from playing a song is not very fitting of a class who has "Mastered" music.
This depends on the Devs outlook of the entertainment class's as a whole, but we need a better way to make money. The Terms are a great idea, but they are woefully, underpaid. The missions should scale with skill from our professions, not weapon skill. thats just crazy IMHO.
Next in line however, would be longer buff times for us. I am jumping on the Entertainer Utility wagon now. We have very little outside of what we ourselves bring to our class. I have seen a dramatic drop in the number of entertainers frequenting the cantinas and I really feel that if they were to give us a way to make decent money and give us more utility, we would still have large numbers.
Lastly, please ask the Devs to either clarify the wording on Master Musician, or else get some changes in for us. This is the single most thorny issue with myself , but it is not a game buster.
As a personal commentary...... I do not know how it would effect the entertainment community, I feel it might be positive for a lot of entertainers, but it could cause a lot more folks to come to town, less and less....
Give Master Rangers a camp that, with a musician or Dancer in it, they can heal BF.
Ok, besides the obvious bugs, those are my issues as of now.
Thanks for reading...

I dont like the idea of Master Musician getting all songs and instruments. Being an entertainer is hard, and becoming a master takes time AND sacrfices like ME.
Come down with a decision NewJedi?
My top issue is that there is no tangible benefit for being a Master Musician other than the title. Top Crafters make money up the wazoo. Top Combat people can participate in fighting and earn money fighting hard things. Top Musicians get to..oh..rely on paltry tips to subsist.
With being a Master Musician, could come some tangible fame benefits or celebrity factor --reduced bazaar prices, special high-paying Master Musician gigs, cantina revenues for playing there for a certain time, their name and character portrait in lights outside the cantina they are playing, etc. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to think some of these things up that should've been in place already.
CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT CONTENT
No content = no musicians before long. If I wanted the Sims Online, I'd have payed for that.
Oh and the ME debacle. Down with the ME's song, instrument, and dances!! No work, no gain I say, muuhahahaha!!
Keep the ME stuff where it is, like any other elite class we should gain from mastering the basics.
My #1 would be obnoxious AFK dancers. Not the XPer but those that wait for tips. Simple solution: Make tips pop up an accept window. No tips if you aren't there, no more missed tips in the xp spam. Make AFK mandatory and don't award XP if AFK. Doesn't seem to be gamebreaking changes ( though I know from firsthand experience that "looking easy to implement from the outside" doesn't mean it is easy to implement ), but small, simple and effective ones. If it's simple, and it works...
ok my #1:
I think more florishes, songs and instraments... i feel the biggest problem for the proffession atm is that we cant diffentiate ourselves from each other more... an elite elite is most definatly needed because why listen to any one but your guild entertainer since there music will sound relativly the same as someone who always plays... if they ould make it so we can really sound more unique there would be more demand for specific bands because of there sound.
there are other issues certianly. I'd like for entertainers to be usefull outside of a cantina at the higher levels
1. Adds function to the entertainer professions
2. Addresses the combat class' complaints that mind damage can't be healed
Besides, I like the idea of a Battle Bard. It would explain why we're always hearing music during the dramatic battles in the movies.
Secondary. Leave Mandoviol and Ceremonial right where they are. I *earned* them. Don't hand them over just because people are demanding them. They can earn them just like the rest of us. {:falls off his soapbox}
