So before anyone even tries to go off the deep end, this poll is not *in any way* based on some kind of extra knowledge I have, or anything like that. I have *not* been told anything even remotely indicating that we are being removed from the game. I'm simply trying to get an ever closer idea of how we think, what we want, who we are. No claims of "he's asking us what we want to do instead, they're removing Musician!" ok?

Hypothetical: It's July 2003, and Star Wars Galaxies is released. You are given a 3 month subscription by a friend/family member/hobo as a gift. In this alternate reality, the entertainer professions do not exist.

What professsion(s) would you play during your 3 month free period, and what would you hope to get out of your play experience?

As always, feel free to elaborate as much as you want on your answers.

If Entertainer professions never existed in SWG, I'd probably be some kind of melee combatant/doctor. But I hate crafting in Galaxies with a purple, overriding passion (though I was a tradeskills fiend in EverQuest), while still believing a proper doctor makes her own meds, so that would've thrown me into a quandry. And without the ability to relax while still providing a useful service (healing fatigue and wounds while nattering and generally veging out) I think I would've burnt out on the whole thing after about a year, tops. About the same as the other MMOs I've played.

And if they end up actually moving the Doc Crafting over to Bio Engineer after the Combat Updarebalavamp, I'll be droppingall mymed skillsas fast as I can click "Surrender Skill." Won't even give it a second thought.

Wealthy gadabout.

Then eventually I would have tried Artisan, get hooked on crafting, then settledinto Doc and TKM.

Honestly, Entertainer is what got me hooked on the game. My buddy was hologrinding Dancer, and he had SWG running on his laptop (he played since day 2). It took all of about 1 minute to watch him dance and I decided the game looked really cool.

If Dancer hadn't been a profession, I might not have taken the leap into SWG. Seeing the cantina (the way it used to be) looked like a lot of fun.

I started off on another server as a smuggler. Way back in the old days when you still had to retrieve your gear off your corpse. I'd probably still be doing that, or Pistoleer. Both are easy to identify with, as both were in the films. But after going to a player hosted party and seeing the band perform, I knew where my place was: Front and center, in the spotlight.

I'd be a Creature Handler and a Rifleman.

When I started on Chimaera one of the first things I saw was a CH showing off a few of his creatures, I thought that was cool and decided thats what I was going to do and so I did. I went with Rifles because I like to keep stuff at a distance and though rifles would be a good choice.

So, even before I mastered CH & Rifles I also started on Infinity with the sole purpose of becoming a Musician and Image Designer and so I did, I did master Dancer but dropped it and guess what, i'll be mastering it again now that we can have all the entertainer professions.

Rock and roll funky people.

I'd play an Artisan > Chef and by the end I'd hope to have mastered Chef and be working on setting up a full-time Cantina storeand progressing my Merchant skills.

I recently decided to do this. I have been playing since launch and have never had a non entertainer character, so I decided that I would make one with NO ent skills. (I failed after the first week and ended up novice musician, but dropped it the next day, so it doesn't count ^_^) On Bria I am currently a master doctor/master combat medic/tka(in the proccess of changing to rifleman) and I really like the doctor profs. Especially since they got rid of the item dependancy. I'm having a blast, but I really miss my ent skills so I have to pop over to Corbantis now and then to get my fix ^_^.

...should the ^_^ go inside or outside the period?

I'm back after a long break. I have reactivated my account and am having a great time entertaining anyone who feels like listening to me play.
