Doesn't everything?

The Mandovial is a great instrument, but i do enjoy playing the Nalargon.... probably enjoy it far far too much, although I don't think the Kimo liked it.....

It's silly, but the song brought me back to the game. I haven't played for months but I just spent a whole day playing like old times. The quest was interesting and the song is new. Not only that but the song is FUN. =D I'm having a blast! Can't wait to hear it with more than just my droid. I also can't wait to finish up dancer quest now. The new dance definitely goes with this song.

/cheers dev team!

As ofFriday nightI had this song. Very fun to play. I've been cheering on the other musicians who have been playing it in the cantinas

Oh and I failed the quest once myself... and twice with my dancer. Audience does seem to be very difficult to "work"

Balgosa, here's what I did based on the advice already posted:

I set up a new two-row shortcut toolbar on my screen. Top row with the flourishes and an extra macor shortcut for /conv, and the second with a full line of /changem xxx macros. I took a friend with me, to talk to the audience members I couldn't get to respond from on stage.

I got the following tips amid garbage: No flo 8 or Virtuoso. Yes on flo 4, 6, 7, Folk, Waltz, Jazz.

I started playing on stage as soon as I got the 60 second warning, since those seem to be seriously lagged, just like the audience replies. I deleted my toolbar keys for flo 8 and Virt, then a few other random flos and songs, leaving at least 2 of each to mix into my performance.

I used a basic rotation, of playing one requested song with all flourishes, then neutral song, all flourishes, next requested song, all flourishes. For every neutral flourish/song I performed, I performed two of the requested ones. It was extremely nervewracking since you can't tell if it's working with getting several identical audience appreciation reports.

Remember to breathe, and may the Muse be with you.

Pendarin/Taerin, I'm glad to hear the song has rekindled your interest in the game. It's just a nifty ditty, isn't it? Downright fun to play. And yes, it does go with the new dance. The base dance has the same problems as Formal and Lyrical, but the flourishes itself are kinda fun, IMHO.

Bantha, isn't Ceremonial kind of a "serious" song too? But I take your point -- the closest thing we have to a "sad" song is Waltz, which brings to mind Luke staring out at the twin suns of Tatooine.

Incidentally, last night I got to play Virtuoso with several other masters for the first time in several weeks. There's just a big difference between playing it with my droid and playing it with a three- or four-piece live band. What a tune! Greater than the sum of its parts.

I think Ceremonial definitely qualifies under somber and serious. Still my favorite song! I would love to see a classical song... like Concerto or something.

As for getting Western... I did it in my first attempt last night, and didn't really read that much about it before starting. During the auditions, I only played songs that were requested by the audience, no neutral ones. Here's the jist of my third recital:

- Like Rock, SW3, and Jazz

- Dislike Ballad and Jazz and Flourish 4

I was confused by the conflicting views on Jazz, but played it long enough to flourish 3 or 4 times on it anyway. Then I played ballad for 3 or 4 flourishes, and then played SW3 the rest of the time. I also had a friend and a couple people waiting to audition running around the audience helping me poll them, since the crowd gets so full on the third recital. I wouldn't suggest neutral songs as the songs that are requested seemed to help make the satisfaction go up pretty fast - I played the longest on the most-requested song and the least on Jazz, which had the conflicting opinions. My crowds were always satisfied at least 3 or 4 tics prior to the end of the recital, so I don't think there was any need to take a risk and play something no one asked for.

As for the song itself... what a lot of fun! I programmed my droid to play bandfill and I'd play around with the other instruments. Mandovial was nice, but I preferred the Chid when playing with a bandfill accompaniment - what a funky sound! Nalargon is boring marimba part again, and Trazz has a decent lyricism to it which doesn't solo well but would be nice in a group of 3 or more I imagine.

Overall, well worth the begging for listeners and nerve-wracking recitals! I could see the frustration if you mess-up though and have to wait 24 hours!

Ceremonial is really onlyserious under the Mandovial.

The other instruments make it sound celebratory (especially flourish 7 on the Chidinkalu Horn).

You can make it sound sad with a Mandovial and non-flourishing Fill, but that's kind of worthless when you're with a full band at a "sad" event.

There's a trick. You throw candy at them before you start playing so they start out at neutral instead.

Heheh, no, we wish, really though, don't spam the liked flourishes, just mix them in more often than others, and don't stay on one song for the whole time. Switch around. You can only get so far on one song.

Well, you can play Ceremonial with four or five mandos and it sounds both classical and kinda sad. I'm not sure which classical period it belongs in. Haydn? Mozart? Not enough major-seventh chords to qualify as Romantic, hehe.

By the way, after one failed attempt and a 24-hour wait, I got Western today too! Woo hoo! I really enjoy this tune. The only instrument that disappoints me at all is the nalargon, which again is a steel drum kind of thing. Why are the devs so in love with that sound? This tune cried out for a honky-tonk piano solo.
