Thread: Musician buff FAQ: version 1.5
Oh! I don't have a mount, but that is good to know. Thank you.
ive found that adding the name since the big patch... erm... mounts one actually. even /wave /invite
and the tell system too ![]()
I have had more reports that meditating while typing /stoplisten prevents the buff from being applied, so I've updated the FAQ accordingly.
I've also added a Q&A stating that leaving the cantina doesn't always trigger the buff. In theory, moving out of range means you stop listening, and the buff should kick in; but sometimes I'll move way out of range and still won't trigger the buff. I've sometimes triggered it by typing /stoplisten 3 km away from the performer.
I can confirm this. Simply leaving "listening range" does not always activate the buff. I've had more than one person I've buffed run to the starport/shuttleport and travel very far away and send me a tell stating they had no buff. Everytime I get this, I tell them to type /stoplisten and everytime it's worked. It's happened about five or six times now.

Thanks for that confirmation, Jigglethehandle.
A further update: last night I tried sitting while receiving the buff, and I still got the buff fine. So sitting doesn't necessarily interfere with the buff; but sitting and meditating (as a TKA) does.
I have a question that I didn't see in the FAQ. My question is can you buff more than one person at a time? I have tried it out and I have had it work and not work. I guess this could be due to people not listening to me but I was just wondering about what results other people have gotten when trying to buff more than one person.

Actually, I had a TKA tell me that meditating doesn't even screw the buff up. Meditating and then coming out of meditate before /stoplisten does. As long as they don't move from the meditate position while they're getting the buff, from start to finish, it's fine.
Tovina gets a lot of performer buffs. I'm pretty darn sure she knows whereof she speaks.
hbkwmxii: You can buff more than one person using the passive or "grouped" buff. Group with all the people you want to buff, and have them /listen toyou while you play and flourish. This buff takes longer to confer than the targeted (/setperform) buff, but it should work.
Echinacea: Hmm, I'll ask my TKA sources about the precise circumstances in which meditating interferes with their buffs. If you're right, it sounds like the problem is easily worked around.
The previous poster (sorry, forgot to check your name): I've invited people to group with me while buffing, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't interfered with a /setperform buff. Are you sure your listener started listening and stopped listening correctly? Sometimes it can take a couple of tries to get /startlisten and /stoplisten to work properly. Had the listener recently died, or recently had a Musician or Doctor buff up or eaten food? On your end: You were flourishing, you played a fairly high song and fairly advanced instrument, you're higher than Novice Musician?
Heya NJ, just to clarify what i can, yes higher than novice (4 2 4 4 that night ). Yes on flourishes. No on high level song(like we can ever play anything better than sw2, thanks holo grind). Re listener, I verified with tells he was listening and then used /setperform, wasn't buffed, no idea on recent death, never heard that could matter. Reminded multiple times to stoplisten, can only assume he used as he said. Heck maybe i just typoed the /setperform command.
Boy sure are alot of factors effecting our buff process, pretty well convoluted aint it? Leave it to soe to make this as difficult as humanly possible! Thanks New Jedi, least I know itr most likely wasnt inviting folk that borked the buff.
