Thread: Image Design TENTS get new music. 3 songs, no less! How do you like that...
I did announce it a week or two ago, though even if I hadn't I didn't get the impression ID's were upset about the addition. As the Musician above said there is a difference in recording ambient looping music to bringing Musicians a new song. There are the different instrument sounds to record. They all have to be set into a certain time frame to match up with each other and the whole flourish timing system, starting and stopping of the music, and so on. I know a song was slated to be released with the Hutt Casino (I seem to remember that announcement). Now that the Hutt Casino is being pushed back behind JTL perhaps we should petition for a new song before then

I just wanted to make perfectly clear that this is yet another thing the IDs were not even informed about untill after it was done. Please do not get angry at the IDs for this, it is not our doing!
ROFL. so sad. so sad. well this game was released over a year ago, and finally they schedule a release for ONE NEW SONG. it gets delayed. It will get delayed again. Most likely it will get delayed after that as well.
the carrot dangling in front of our faces is well past the rotting stage.
Things Musicians have recieved since LAUNCH:
1.Buffs, then refined, then refined.
2.Playback droids.
BTW playback droids shouldnt even be needed. the only reason we need them is because the musicians are getting to be too few to get a nice band together. so sad.

We IDs can sympathise with you on that one. Things that the IDs have gotten since launch:
UI- Refined a few times.
Colors -Mostly positive reaction from the game population as a whole
Holoemotes - Entertainers have the most positive typical reaction, most everyone elsee seems to be either "Meh." ot "What tha...?"
Stat migration - Considered a nerf by a good portion of the player base, mixed reaction by the IDs. Regardless, the method of implimentation widely regarded as game breaking by both.
The social professions need a measure of developer time second only to Smugglers at this point. Well, Smuggler needs Dev time more perhaps, but doesn't come close to the amount of new art we need.
I'm a master image designer, and a master musician. Most of the time I'm in the tent, me and 2 other master musicians and master image designers are playing in a band with the 2 droids. You sir, are just ignorant.

Here's an idea - why doesn't their "social" profession invite us into tents to play some of our new songs for them?

Hey now......
Warryyr was exaggerating to make a point....not making a suggestion and assuming noone is doing it. I also don't think he intended it for Image Designers, but to the Devs say "hey if you gave us new songs we could do this". I think its great that you guys play there. I'm suprised more people don't, especially when you can victim ID for someone while playing and get a friend the really slow ID xp they so desperately crave.
As an observation to you however......I think you will be even more pissed about the new music in the tents than Warryy was. He was pissed cause it happened before new songs came out for music. However, this is background music....you can't turn it off unless you reconfigure to turn off all background music. People who listen to your multi-instrument/multi droid band will now hear your lovely song superimposed over the default one of the tent. Ever try to play in Mos Eisley cantina or Jabba's throne room....Not fun. I tried to join in with Firgin Dann once, but his SW2 is much faster and more complex than mine. You may find that noone will want to listen to you anymore in the tents now that there is a composed piece of music playing there rather than 10 related flourishes of a "song".....that play on top of a composed piece of music.

I don't respond to posts that have deteriorated to name-calling, typically. I'll make an exception in this case - because, you sir, are just out of line.
First, just want to make it perfectly clear that there is no reason to call anyone else ignorant or any other names. Further, had you read my post and thought about it before flaming (and as Fragpuppie stated), my intention was to describe an idea for having Musicians play in the tents for ID's, rather than just throw background music in there - make it more of a social atmosphere. Add content for players, and fostermore socialize between our professions.
If you're already doing that, hey fantastic, and that's a great thing. I, myself, have never seen Musicians playing for ID's in their tents - and I try to peek my head in here and there to see how things are going. The fact that I've never seen Musicians playing for ID's doesn't make me ignorant - ignorance would be saying something like, "The ID's NEVER invite ANY Musicians into ID tents to play, on any server, NEVER." Did I say this? No.
And, again as Fragpuppie said, your band days in the tent are over. No one will listen to you, unless they want a headache. There's no way to turn off background music without turning all the sound down, and anyone who listens to your band will hear 2 songs at once - your band's song and the tent background music, just like Jabba's throneroom. You'll be playing for the sole fact of looking like you're playing the music coming out of the tent "speakers." You'll just be another piece of decoration. Rather than provide an opportunity to add more content to Musicians (new song or songs), encourage more socialization between professions, and provide some nice music for Image Designers, all they achieved was providing nice music for the Image Designers. Very much a missed opportunity for the Devs. Even if we had gotten new songs only playable in ID tents, it would have been something. But no. Nothing. 2005, after Jump to Lightspeed - we might get 1 new song. Maybe.
My final thoughts on your post - refrain from name-calling on the forums. It achieves nothing, and usually ends up just making you look worse than the post you're mocking.

That said, it does anger me that it's been a year and we still don't have any new songs.New songs has always been my number 1 priority, and it's been our #1 issue in each and every poll I've ever done. The devs have heard me ask for them dozens and dozens of times. It was our weekly question two questions ago. They know we want new songs. I don't know how much more clearly I can tell them. They seem to understand perfectly clearly that it is painful to listen to the same 10 songs -- more painful, I think, than watching the same 10 dances.
I certainly agree with NJ's feelings. This has always been the number 1 demand for musicians, one the devs have decided to turn a deaf ear to, except for some vague promises. ![]()
I enjoy being a musician right now. But that's only because I left the game for 5 months and so even the old songs feel kinda fresh to me again. But I don't know if that's exactly the kind of subscription model that SOE wants to encourage.
It's true that it might be more work to provide 1 more musician song (I don't even want to consider 2 or 3 or I might feintdue to theexcitement
)than 3 background songs. But if SOE did that, they would allow both the song to be played inside normal entertainment venues and inside de ID tents. They would also make the musician ecstatic.
Does anyone really believe that 3 static background songs was a best use of any resources?
Oh well, nicely done SOE. Back to waiting...and waiting... and waiting.
