If it works for you then great. Personally I'd like to see a new board dedicated to holotainers where this kind of thing would be more appropriate.

Hear, hear!

NJ...I think that should get added to our list.

Split off a separate forum for them so there would be 5 Entertainer forums...

Dancer
Entertainer
Image Designer
Musician

AFKtainer

But wait, if they are AFK...could they ever post? We need to get some posting macros going too.

I have no problem with a buffbot like this, as long as you take it to your house/cantina and charge an entrance fee. That's what docs do with their buffbots, because unlike entertainers, their buffs have a cost. But it is irritating to have some buffbot parked in a public cantina, taking away my business. Because a buffbot is doing it all for free.

And these days I keep getting people who don't even think they should pay for music buffs. I blame you.

Of all the replies I believe this one makes the most sense and I applaud you for your insight. I will highly recommend this in my original post.

so basicly you wanted to be reaffirmed for your post... in your second post you stated if most musicians thought this was a harmful post you would delete it and when they did you chose the ONE who gave you another option that you felt would fit you best.... why did bother to post the second post then?

I think with the next publish and the introduction of the "spamming" droids, the above type of services will be very viable for many musicians who wish to make a decent living.

The posterwho repliedthat I had offendedhimby saying my macro had anything to do with buffing the "right" way was misled. I was referring to the fact that macro or not, VERY few musician or dancers know how to buff anyone the right way,PERIOD.

i've never met a ent that didn't know how to buff.... plus NJ has a whole buffing thread and it was posted in the game guides cause it was so good...

To the person who feels that the quick buff is an exploit, I'm sorry you feel that way.

the majority of entertainers do... i would guess 99% of us who are atk ents..

To the folks who feel that afk buffers will hurt the atk buffers, you are living in a pipe dream. I have played on the Bloodfin server for nearly 9 months and I know all 3 of the regular musician buffers that frequent Theed and Bestine. 1 of them is myself and the others are very nice folks who have spent just as much time as I have trying to educate the massess on the importance of Musician buffs, but the fact remains, there are so very few of us, that until the massess realize how exceptionally awesome a good music buff is, they simply WILL NOT seek us out.

something given free has no value that is the point of afk buff bots they reduce the percived value... also just because YOUR server is like that doesn't mean all servers are like that...

Those of you who thought the macro could use some improvement, please feel free to PM me with any corrections or better ways of writing it. Do remember, macros do have a character limit, so I can't make one beautiful super long macro.

Exploit or not...we all have our opinions, however it is not for us to decide if it is or not.

On that front, you are very lucky Ceraphim. The devs have been asked specifically if the /stop/start macro is an exploit or not, and , well, they haven't cared enough to even reply.

My opinion is that it most likely is. The /stop/start specifically bypasses an internal limit to the number of flourishes that are allowed in any given time frame. I think that most of us here on the music forum share this opinion, but all act on it differently. However, until I hear it from a Dev, I do not think that it can be 100% called an exploit. Well we may never hear from a dev and one day....POOF its gone.

This macro is awful I hate it frankly. Its argueable that its an exploit but it still makes me useless and boring. I dont want to use this macro because it discrases songs and ruins my style. But if I dont use it I will not make any money or have any fun. AFK entertainers I can stand. You can atleast ignore them but "buff bots" take business away from honest entertainers. id it picks up then Ill drop musician.

This is exactly the type of "performing" that is ruining the reputations of entertainers everywhere. I call it performing and not entertaining because that is all you do with a macro like this one - perform a function just like a computer program and nothing more! It reduces our profession to nothing more thana bunch of people who willingly pay $15 a month to beNPC players.

I am a member of a guild that, up until this past week, really wasn't aware of the benefits they gained dealing with live entertainers instead of just AFKers and buffbots. Now, because our wonderful mayor has encouraged them to seek out live ents (and the diligence of my darling husband), we've been getting more patrons at our "live ent" only cantina. They are surprised at the quality of ENTERTAINMENT they receive and actually enjoy the time it takes to buff. Many of them have even stayed around after the buff to listen to the music and watch the dancing! What a concept!!

Oh, and just a little plug for the first Entertainer Awareness Day event being held on Bria in the Coronet Theatre this Sunday at 4pm ET. We are asking that as many dance/musician/ent. masters (along withthose with novice musician and dancer) attend as possible to offer training, inspiration and awareness of our profto new ents and non-ents. We are encouraging non-ents to pick up the novice entertainer skill and find out how much fun entertaining can be and what a nice group of LIVE people we are. We are also asking for some tailors to attend and provide clothing for the newer ents, as well as for established ents to donate costumes. Come prepared to have fun and make new friends!

I'll see you there! I'd like to encourage entertainers from other servers to consider creating characters to join us here--either this or to see if they can organize the event on their servers as well!

Oh, and Cer? Listen to the entertainers here...macros like the one you posted are harmingus deeply. Not only have we lost our cantinas and business to afk macrotainers and buffbots, but we have also lost the respect of the community at large, and this is worse than even the hundreds of thousands (maybe millions?) of credits we've lost. The less encouragement these macrotainers receive to prostitute themselves, the better.

Love y'all, and see you on Sunday!

Hiya Lilo ! Looking forward to seeing you again! This event should be a real boost to all the Ents both new and established. Plus it promises to be LOTS of fun.
