Yeah, after I spread it around the cantina, I won a few friends of it, too. I mean, hell, it won't be difficult to record...

I'm glad I read this thread as I was going to start a new one just on the subject of the mandoviol...

I had been, among other professions, a Weaponsmith since day one. But the grind finaly got to me and I had to quit, choosing to become a Musician. Initially, I had two main reasons for becoming a Musician-Iwanted to play the mandoviol and nalargon.

Having the mandoviol in the master entertainer box makes little sense to me. I do not think I should have to take up dancing just to get access to this instrument.

Forcing a Musician to get Master Entertainer in order to get access tothe mandoviolwould be like forcingCreature Handlers, for example, to have to get the whole Scout profession for the "Pet Command Attack" skill instead of just having to get the 2 Scout lines they have to currently.

Can we really call ourselves Master Musicians if we can't play guitar?

Please oh mighty Musician Correspondent...mention this to the devs as more than just "in passing"

If you are a studio musician, you don't ever learn Madoviol. If you learn a little more about jamming before an audience you learn Mandoviol. I am sick of people complaining about doing a little dancing, and a little makeup and not getting the Mandoviol. Compared to the XP you need for Musician, it isn't bad.

A studio musician isn't a master musician, though, see. A master musician, one who has "mastered every single musical instrument", obviously won't exist IRL; however, 'picking your instrument' would be difficult at best to incorporate into the current skill tree/skill system. So we who chose Master Musician instead of MM/ME or simply ME request some kind of stringed instrument and access to Ceremonial.

I have never met a ME who didn't wish my lowly bandfill could back him up.

Great idea, Nev!! A 'rest' flourish would be great.

As far as Mandoviolo and ceremonial...I think the ME can keep the instrument but the song should be available to the non-ME musicians. It's a lot easier to learn a song than how to play a new instrument well.

I would like to see a Star Wars version of an electric guitar though...

here is an idea:

Put cerimonial in novice musician, and put some sorta stringed instrument in knowledge 1(harp thing or something), and a new song in 2. THEN to fill up the missing song in ME, make SW4, Jabba's Palace Theme( i know i've said this before, but i WANT this song!)

Any1 like this idea?

Oh and the song for knowledge 2 could be Pop, to go with the corrispoding Poplock in dancer tree

Good idea on the flourish, i agree that it should be 0

I originally said 9, because it comes right after 8 on the keyboard. You know, where I hit my flourishes.

As for what to place where, I've been milling around the following idea...

Put ceremonial and the mandoviola somewhere in the Musician tree. Then, give Master Entertainers things that only a true Master Entertainer (like, for example, the late Steve Allen) would have. Things like juggling, ACTUAL ventriloquism (complete with wooden Ewok/Wookiee/Vader puppet, yes, it would remove it from the Musician tree, no, I don't care), and other visual effects/animations. This would obviously have to be expanded upon a bit with, say, four to six widely varying animations/skills, but something that would make Master Entertainer worth having for the ME, and still be able to put the Song/Dance stuff where it belongs.

Thoughts? Crosspost?

most (if not all) of the points that are being discussed apply to entertainers actually. I would like to mention something that applies to musicians specifically. The wound healing and fatigue healing lines are a waste. They are passive, meaning we just get a little better at something we can't control and which really doesn't affect us too much.
I would like those lines to have some interactivity in them. Ability to create items, new commands, access to new things. As they are now, they're just two wasted lines imho.
Sure we can heal people faster when we're in a remote cantina, but does it really affect us? not really.
