Thread: You guys can buff the blue bar for other players
You don't have to select 'stop' from the radial. I simply leave the cantina and I get the buffs.
I usually watch a High Level Dancer(Chlo on the Chilastra Server, Tyrena, Corellia) and listen to the highest musician in the cantina...and I always walk out with a mind buff. Kinda nice, but the duration isn't long enough to be useful to me...
You all might want to discuss the duration of the buffs and perhaps some way of actually actively applying the buff to a patron. That way you can have a marketable service. If you could tell me that, with the right flourish or the right song played/dance done, that my mind would be buffed for x-number of minutes(preferably hours) then you had better believe I'd pay you top dollar for that service...
Texxie, I agree, 30 minutes isn't that long, but it's hard to find a Master Doctor to give you those super-duper buffs. (I had one last night; I could flourish and do lights all night long!) Also, do docs buff mind? Or mostly health/action?
In the field, a half-hour buff is enough to get you through several good PvE fights or an intense round of PvP warfare. Better than nothing, anyway. ![]()
Doctors can buff Health, Action, Quickness, Stamina, Strength and Constitution. A Master, with a highly experimented enhance pack, can sometimes get up to 2K worth of enhancements to any of those stats, lasting anywhere from 1 hour to 1 1/2. Heard there were some 2-3 hours ones out there, but have yet to make them that good.
We have no control over anything relating to mind healing or enhancement. That is the realm of Smugglers(Spice), Chefs(Food/Drinks) and Entertainers.
Give me a surefire way of getting my mind, focus, and willpower as buffed as I can make the rest of my stats, without the side-effects of spice or the seemingly short duration of food, and you've got yourself a lifetime client ![]()
I'll post a link to this thread in the rifleman boards, I am sure my fellows will be anxious to hear the news!
Correct, we don't seem to be able to buff ourselves, which is too bad. Also, when I'm playing music, I seem to have trouble getting a mind buff from a dancer at the same time, but maybe I did something wrong.
Still, it's great to have the ability to buff Focus/Willpower, as we do. I just wish the buff lasted longer.
Forgive me, I'm painfully new.... I can understand why having a big mind pool is benificial. What about Focus and Willpower? What do they effect, and what are the advantages of having those pools increased?
Sorry if those are lengthy-answer questions. I want to know because I thought both musicians and dancers increased the mind pool, and I chose musician. Now I'm wondering if I should have chosen dancer instead. Someone, please clarify!
(or maybe, point me to a good thread..I'm still looking...)
Hi Veruka, and welcome to SWG! Focus is "burn" rate -- how efficiently do you use your Mind pool to accomplish tasks? Willpower is "regeneration" rate -- how quickly do you gain back Mind? Thus, both are pretty important stats, though for someone just trying to stay alive (me), Willpower is more important, whereas a medic might have greater need for Focus. Hope this helps.

Each pool (red, green, and blue) has three stats. For blue, those are Mind, Focus, and Willpower.
Mind is raw pool size. A higher mind stat means a larger blue pool. This is where mind damage and special move costs get subtracted from.
Focus determines how much mind is used for mind actions when doing combat moves, medic healing, artisan surveying, etc. A higher focus means less points are used. So a medic with a high Focus uses less mind points when healing than a medic with low Focus.
Willpower determines how fast the pool regenerates. This is especially useful for long-running actions, such as sampling (which uses both Mind and Action points). If an artisan has high Willpower, he/she can regenerate Mind points almost as fast as they use it up.
The other pools work the same way. Red: Health = pool size, Strength = pool usage, Constitution = pool regeneration. Green: Action = pool size, Quickness = pool usage, Stamina = pool regeneration. For a performer, you would be able to play/dance longer before restingif you increase the Quickness and Stamina stats, even if this requires reducing the Action bar. And a higher stamina means you rest up faster, reducing down time.
I personally think the secondary stats are more important than the primary pools. A simple analogy might be to think ofHealth/Action/Mind as cash on hand, Strength/Quickness/Focus as a purchase discount, and Constitution/Stamina/Willpower as your income. If you can get things cheaper with more money coming in, you don't necessarily have to have a lot of cash to not go broke (incapacitated with zero points).
Quick re-phrase to keep things clear: The Mind statis the *maximum* raw pool size. The current pool size depends on actions taken and regeneration based on the other two stats.
As long as we're on the subject, when someone stops watching a dancer, does the Mind buff take effect instantly, and is the increased pool full (all blue) or is it tacked on to their current pool as white "damage" that needs to be regenerated?
