Give it some time. We are only talking about weeks here since we came into this world. I would dare not use the word "power" whenreferring to how quickly those of usthat are master musicians became master musicians. However, I will say that our fervor and passion for this profession and game have allowed us to reach our goals more quickly than others.

Sooner or later, more "advanced musicians", who may not have this same passion (or time and patience),will become "master musicians", and I would say very shortly, you will see two groups in a cantina....the advanced/master group and the "on the road to ear candy freedom" group. As a result, I think (personal opinion) that its going to be harder and harder for musicians to move up the ranks as people get more and more tired of the repetition of playing the less advanced songs. (hint hint to Devs: We need at LEAST 1,000 more songs added to the music profession ::cough:: ::cough:

The other idea is that maybe the master musicians will eventually gravitate to some of the cantinas on the planets that aren't on the beaten path of planets. The more or less "dangerous" ones like Lok and Endor (don't know much about them, since I haven't been there though). To hear and play the good tunes, musicians and non musicians alike might have to make a trip away from the Star Wars 1 cantinas. ::shrug::

As far as the master "other" professions that are learning music to heal themselves, why? I mean if they dip into some of the musician blocks of healing and work their way up, more power to them and if that heals them so be it, but the ones that just work their way up in the "entertainer" ranks, why? Why not put the skills to better use and utilize the musicians for what they are there for and get out of the cantina a lot faster???

I aman aspiring musician and agree with the ideas of both SadaraSWG and VoodooRising. I just want to voice that there are serious people out there that just don't have the time to devote to the game. I am working my way (slowly) towards musician iv and can not wait to be able to play some of the more advanced songs. I would like to give a blanket "thanks" to all the higher level musician/entertainers in Theed that have brought the song down to sw2 for me and others in my position.

I macro from time to time, but I always go to my house to do it. Mainly, I do it so friends can come heal without having to run all the way to the cantina and when I have to do laundry etc. and can't be at the keyboard every second.

A cantina is no place to be afk, especially not in the main group.

As for the songs, each one can sound good, but it depends on the musicians. If they're chain flourishing it's not going to sound that great if you have more than two.

As an apprentice musician I have to agree with the concerns that have been posted. It never occurred to me that the 3rd profession players were becoming that numerous. I think that the solution (which has already been posted) is to begin using the Hotels for shows. I have maxxed my ent heal as a musician so I find that while I still love to play to heal people, it no longer holds the exp ax over me. I play for enjoyment and the camraderie of the circle of players whom I have taught and who taught me. While it might seem naive to some, I play in a relatively unpopulated bar in Keren, Aghazi, and I havent seen many new musicians in a while. I guess that it is becoming a moot point for me anyhow as that I am creating a cantina/ music academy that will hopefully give the AFKers somewhere to go to macro their little hearts off while the live players can play, teach (a paid position), craft or whatever without the distraction of these new grinders. Hopefully once there are enough private establishments we will see a balance, and will be able to refine the difference between the jingler and the virtuoso (ohhh I cant wait). Sorry I ran a little long but Im excited to get the place built.

well its like real life. when you start a band there are gonna be some that want in on it and thats fine. i for one am not the type of person who likes to invite every player in the entertainer profession that comes in the door. you have to realise that there is competition even in the entertainer class. you cant just invite any player that comes through the catina doors. If you and your pals can play a better song then do it! the newbs are just starting they can form their own beginner group. yes i know some of you say "but i dont like making the customers choose and all." the customers are big boys, and most of them proly really could care less how good you are as long as they can get their fatigue healed and get back out there and fight. see this is just one thing that us--the players--have made up all by ourselves. For some reason alot of musicians think that they should all be doing the same thing. You gotta put the line down somewhere folks. Look at dancers, they are dancing different all the time. I would love to see at least 4 dancers all doing one dance and form a troupe (dancers can do /bandflourish too). The only way around all this is to just make them create their own band and stick with the members you got and play.

Kicking out the lower level people or changing the song on them might be an idea, but be prepared for a backlash of rudeness! After catering to a lower level musician for roughly 2 hours or so, (who had asked that we lower the songs to help them get through SW1 and a good portion into Rock) the band decided to change songs to SW2 (or something a lil higher). I was group leader and tried to send several tells to the person asking how far they had to go. No response. After about 5-10 minutes of trying to get this person's attention, the band stopped and changed songs. Not 5 seconds later did this person start a barage of insults to all the other people in the band. Tried to nicely and calmly explain to the person the situation from our end. Didn't work. More insults to all. I was just glad I was already done for the night about to log off anyway.

Great topic.

I recently made Master Entertainer and am now working towards Master Musician. Like many, I macro from time to time but for the most part even when it macros I'm still at the keyboard chatting away.

I think Lampus came up with a great idea last night in Theed - we split the group in two. Dancers in one group, entertainers in another. This effectively doubled our group to a 40 member capacity, and when are you going to have more than 40 peeps in a cantina at once?

Honestly there are still FAR more AFK dancer bots than musicians, so I think doing these "all-music" groups help.

I also agree with switching up songs a bit - this is where a GOOD, AT THE KEYBOARD group leader NEEDS to act like a bandleader. Yeah I can play Ballad. No, I can't play Jazz. BUT I wouldn't mind hearing it for 5 mins or so. Keep it fresh! When my girl knows rock and sw1 by heart (or the "duh duh...da duh duh...da DUH DUH...da DUH DUH" songs as she calls them...)

I think if we had bandleaders taking their title a little more seriously (not just being "the invite guy") this would help make a more enjoyable atmosphere for all.

I would like to thank Sige, Hudas, Slade, Dib, Lampus and all my music mentors on Flurry and I hope some of them read this.

One thing we've done in Theed on Kauri a couple times is split into two bands, one for low levels and one for high. This gives everyone a group bonus, keeps the invite waiting list low, and keeps master musicians from breaking slitherhorns over peoples' heads.

Now if only we could boot the griefers harassing the dancers...

hey..

heres my solution..

keep in touch with people like me and PA's and so forth who want to do private house entertaiing..

I want to be a high class musician, start a new town with people, a private town and have our own cantina, which will have an entry fee, so they have to pay if they want to get in, and yes you can charge cover charges and let people in for X amount of minutes...

as the game grows the city cantinas will be a thing for noobs and bots.. the real action will be in the private cantinas..

not to say homeowners and stuff wont leave their bots running, but at least the homeowner can kick them out if theres a problem..

or so i think......

I need to admin my own house soon so I can have the answers.. :-)

Ahh good someone who answered my question. I want to use the macros only so I can tell and chat with people and not have to worry about constantly hittng the right keys... to flourish..

so you can chat and run a flourish macro.. sweet.. perfect actually...

I like the two group idea as well.. good idea..

in theed on wanderhome, there was probably about 9 people in a group last night and it got pretty big.. people all over the place.. we really need to get in better groups..

organization is key.. :-)

It's real simple, and it requires no amazing code change or fix...

You a master musican. You alone, or maybe you and a couple musician friends come into a cantina and decide what song YOU want to play. Then you look for other novice musicians or better, find out of they can play what you want to play. If so, invite, if not, don't. As more people come in, keep inviting the people who can play what you want, refusing the people who cannot. When n00b456 comes in and asks to join "the entertainer group" explain to him that it is a professional "band" not an xp group -- if he can play Waltz (or whatever song you choose to play) then he can join. If not, he can't.

If n00b456 decides to form his own group and gets 50 other people to join him playing Star Wars1, your group will STILL have ALL the people listening to you, becasue I promise you the customers are just as sick and tired of SW1 and Rock as you are. And, you can compete for their "business" if you will. A well placed, "Listen to [group lead name] if you'd like to hear something other than Rock!" or "Band playing high level song, come listen in!" or basiclally anyway you choose to advertise, I promise you you'll be successful.

Moreover, how about a little showman ship from entertainers? Have any of you ever come into a cantina with four friends and made sure you have a narg, omni, mand and something else and created a real band name for yourself and treated it as a real performance? Well, for those who have, it usually is pretty well received is it not?

In summary, basically I think that when everyone is just xping then yes, high level musicians should just suck it up and play in the large xp group with everyone else. But when musicians really want to play for fun, they should plan "gigs." And in these gigs they should discriminate on who they let into the group, and they should play only the songs they want, and encourage others to listen -- and I promise, listen they will.

You're right jedi, they add more exp. And I don't kick afkers from the group when business is real slow. If it's empty then everyone can tell that I'm the only one at my desk and the three hot dancers are macro bots. I'm not splitting tips with them at all, and by that I mean no one's tipping them.

However, at a certain point, afkers don't add atmosphere to the cantina. We want it to be pleasant so people will enjoy coming and enjoy paying us. (like that ice cream shop I worked at, boss lady told me on the first day, we don't sell ice cream, we sell enjoyment. people are not paying for icecream, they are paying for your smiling face and the ambiance of the store. they can get 5 gallons of ice cream for 50 cents at the jumbo mart and they pay way more than that to come to my store and shoot small talk with me. BTW I got lots of tips at the ice cream store too, and our store policy was to return the tips and tell people that we can't accept them. That's usually when they forced me to take money from them when the manager's back was turned.)

AFK drone is like baskin robins highschool teen ager that doesn't want to be at work. I hate 31 flavors cause of the employees, not the product.

But on the same note, if you're afk, and still playing, you can be booted from the group because you're not contributing. As long as you're at the keyboard you can play in the band SW1 all night long.

Is this is Wrong?AFK folks arecontributing too, because they are 1 extra person in the band, I thought that increases XP?
