Thread: A Master Entertainer / Master Musician speaks out...
I like the way the skill system is in place, and now I challenge you, to find in the current online manual, a description of where it says a Master Musician can play all instruments and play all songs.
Don't get snotty, I am very opinionated and make my feelings clear, but to try to start something personal is another thing entirely. if you or anyone else is unhappy with the game. Simple solution. Uninstall the game.
The game is still in its baby stage, and things will change, Master Entertainer may indeed lose the mandovil and the master Musician might gain it. I am, if you haven't noticed by all my sigs, both a ME and a MM.
This topic is becoming a real sore point for a lot of us and verbally abusing one another is not going to help. If you want to play a musician fine, just don't expect to have everything your way.
I proposed many ideas, if you would simply use that marvelous search feature these boards have. Until you have read about the things I have brought to the table, then I would prefer that you not speak to/about me in such a manner.
I find your words both hurtful and derogitory, and to please YOU, here are my sujustions to make our class a better one....yet again.
(1) Continue to eradicate the bugs that plauge our classes
(2) A unique sound for every instrument.
(3) Add more bandflourishes ( this one is already on test)
(4) Add more songs and instuments
(5) Group tip option added so that people can tip the "band" when they want to.
I do not see the problem myself. You are, IMHO, a "rules lawyer" and can not play the game as presented. Because in your mind there is no logical reason for the mand or ceremonial song to be in the hands of a "lowly" ME. And furthermore, I would bet that you want to play that mandovil, maybe you already do, but it kills you that you had to spend all those extra points to be allowed to play, what in your mind, should have been the MM's in the first place.
This is not Beta...things were changed. If the DEVs feel that a change needs to be made, they will make it. We can yell and scream at each other as long as we want, doesn't mean a single thing is going to change.

I posted in the other thread on the same topic.. smack around ME all you'd like, and complain about what MM get.. the reality is that MD gets even less, because we get nothing at MD that we don't already have, so I'm having a great deal of trouble feeling your pain.
I'm halfway to master music now, and will have all the songs and instruments, because I chose to master entertainment as well.
ME was meant to be standalone, too, for those who had no desire to move into ID, Music or Dance as an Elite profession. The Mando, and Ceremonial give them a beautiful song and instrument to do that with.
If it's so easy to get, get it, have the song and instrument, and stop complaining *shrugs*
I agree, Hijo, that's part of what i was attempting to point out. When leveling and training music, I get a new song for EACH level of MK I achieve. In dance, I got rehashes of old ones, that are for the most part broken..
So part of my point is that I don't have much sympathy for the lack of mand\ceremonial at MM level, because dancers get screwed all the way up.
Which still begs the question of what ME gets for having gotten there.
I like the mando where it is, and will even when I have mastered music too.

Ok I will accept your challenge. I will go to what has to be accepted as themost current document, the live product itself. Press ctl-s now select musican tree. Now place your mouse over the master musician box and read "The Master Musician knows all the songs and instruments available, and has all the tools to put on a professional performance." The key word there being "ALL".

The people who are really getting penalized are those dancers and image designers who don't get anything really extra if they decide to go to master entertainer.
By your logic, a Master Dancer should not be able to do every dance. it's not practical. But they can. The dances a Master Entertainer gets are not unique: they're simply minor variations on existing dances that the Master Dancer already possesses. Also by your logic, a Master Image Designer should not be able to completely re-work every aspect of a character's appearance. It's not practical. But they can.
Only the Musician who skips ME is penalized by not having access to every different "form" of their art. How is a Master Musician penalized? Because only they out of the three entertainer branches MUST become a Master Entertainer to be able to enjoy all the different forms of their chosen art. Image Designers don't have to. Dancers don't have to. Only Master Musicians do. THAT is a handicap that only one third of the entertainer types must suffer. And that is not right.
True, Image Designers and Dancers do not get anything extra for becoming a ME. But they also do not have to GIVE UP a premier part of their class for NOT being one. And speaking personally, if it comes to a choice of nothing extra over losing something, I'll choose nothing extra.
Give the ME a mandoviol by all means, but do not prevent the Master Musician from having a similar-sounding instrument far down the road without needing to sink skill points into dancing, image design and the ME box if they do not wish to. Make it fair for all three branches of the entertainer profession instead of taking something unique from only ONE just to make ME "special". And until this is rectified so that either all or none of the three branches of entertainer have to give up something unique to the ME box, you and I will have to agree to differ.

FULLY AGREE! Lets keep this post bumped until they fix it. ME's should not have an exclusive instrument save a tambourine or something of that nature. They should not have an exclusive song either. It is rather annoying that the BEST sounding instrument is given to ME's. I am both and ONLY because of the instrument/song... It annoys me to no end, wasting MY CHAR XP on dance/ID.
Give the ME's something else that none of the pro classes (MID, MM, MD) can get on their own. Fix that dances so the dancers are happy.
AT THE VERY LEAST, have people Earn ME and then when they GET to MM, let them drop ME and keep the instrument/song.
Finally: I bought the game when it said "The Master Musician knows ALL the songs and instruments available, and has all the tools to put on a professional performance." IT STILL SAYS THAT.
SOE: FIX THIS ISSUE. You state something... YOU back it up.
A simple solution
MEs get four things.
Ceremonial (Song)
Footloose2 (Dance)
Formal2 (Dance)
Mandoviol
That's two useless dance upgrades. A novice dancer gets poplock and popular ... two new dances. THey don't really need upgrades to two they already have. So that leaves Ceremonial and mandovial. The only unique items for a ME. That's just dumb. Evident by the big holes in the Musician trees, these were just ripped out and slapped onto ME to make folks want it.
A ME should get the following four things instead.
Mandovial
Poplock
Unique graphical display along lines of firejet
Bald (Or another unique ID feature)
What does this do? Well. It removes poplock from dancer and gives them three dances (Popular, footloose2, formal2) for hitting novice dancer. It adds an ID incentive. And most importantly it fixes a glaring hole in the musician tree. A musician has to get 137500XP after music 4 to get anything new. The instrument obtained at Novice sounds just like earlier instruments. By moving Ceremonial, Novice Musicians get something new, MEs still keep their mandovial, and customers no longer want to rip throats out after hearing SW3 for days.
It adds a new song for novice musician (Ceremonial).

And dancers all across the galaxies are cheering the idea of never EVER having to do poplock again....*grin*
