Tyrant was the dev pushing AFK elimination. Tyrant is gone now (I think.)

ok, since it looks like bots may be around still, any ideas wouls be appreciated as to how u all deal with them. one poster suggested boycotting anything but player-made cantinas in player cities. is this a viable option?

One way to deal with the buffbot... can you stand directly in front of him so no other player can get in? If this is really an AFK bot, you'll get a buff, sure. But if you stand there so you are right in his face, even overlapping a little, will that keep others from using the bot? My understanding is the macro targets the player in front of the bot. I'm not sure if this would work, just wondering. This would probably be best if you have a group of musicians/dancers. Hmmmm, you could even blame it on our old nemesis, the warping bug.

- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.
...and making SWG a better place to be.

Yes, that can kinda work. Parking Banthas on them works well too. However the bots usually have spam and all one needs to do is "/invite botname" and "/listen botname". Not seeing them is an improvement, but not hearing them is needed too. Most importantly is not being able to interact with them and them not being able to automate their interaction back.

I suggest we all start complaining to SOE as hard as possible about this buffbot stuff... if we complain enough they will break at some point...

The inspiration buffs were only a start, it seems.
The Dev, Phydeaux-K9, actually said they're working towards things that will encourage people to be at the keyboard, which will increase our benefits to people.
Things will probably get better soon. Whether that happens before you seek out something that's more fun is the thing. If you feel inclined to seek fun in something besides Musician, just remember that you can always change professions and get Musician back. You also might want to consider what you can get with Musician 0/0/4/0, which lets you keep all instruments and songs except the Nalargon and Virtuoso.

I hate to be negative, but how much better have things gotten for the entertainment professions since this game's release?...

I would say about 10 steps backward? Or to put it another way the game has gotten 75% less fun then when it was released.

Ohhhh, you're askiing the wrong Wookiee. Argh...

If you want to see negative, then maybe you're asking the right Wookiee. Might be wise not to get me started.

Can't resist, though.

Condensed version: Things haven't gotten much better since I started playing over a year ago. I'm super pissed about that. And it is inexcusable for the Devs to have treated Entertainers like this for so long, and I want something done about it today. Not tomorrow, not next week, not soon(tm), I want the ball rolling today and I want to be treated like I matter in this game again.

I have spent very little time playing my Entertainer lately, and it pisses me off. Because there are constant reminders of how little I really have to contribute to this game versus a 24 hour per day, 7 day per week buffbot macroing AFK'ing piece of **edit**.

I want to have fun playing an Entertainer again in SWG. At least I have a vague idea of how fun cantinas were before the stupid bots took over.

And it pisses me off that the Devs seem completely uninterested in obliterating AFK'ing Entertainers. Sure, /startmusic and /startdance work just fine - but our gameplay experience equates to a pile of dung for $15/month as far as I'm concerned.

I pay money for a service when the service is good. I don't pay money to beg and plead for attention like an orphan at the gruel pot. I absolutely and totally refuse to ever beg and plead to this supposed Dev team ever again. It does no good. I did so in the "see, a dev is talking to us blah blah blah" post, for the last time.

I am no longer a beggar. I am no longer paying for poor service. I am defiant.

Fix our professions, and today, Dev team. I've had enough of your excuses and enough of you wasting my time. Fix us or lose my money.

Yeah, and that was the condensed version. Sorry for the rant, in fact everyone, sorry for just about the entire last year. I hate the way this game experience has made me, and I'm really going to try to be ignorant and blissful and nothing but a cheerleader, because doing the total opposite has done no good for almost a year. And if being cheerful does no good, then I'll find the Cancel button.

I totally and fully agree with you... and that isn't a rant... it is a very polite way of saying that the entertainer profession has been totally forgotten by those *censored* devs... and now thay are making CU... I might cancel very soon...

I have payed some attention to your posts and your support for entertainment professions, Warryyr. The entertainers of SWG are by far the best (and worst, meaning AFK) players in this game. I have great respect for entertainers, and even have traveled up musician several times myself for pure enjoyment.

I hate seeing how marginalized the entertainer professions have been, I am a CH, I know what marginalization is through and through. As much as I would like to see this game succeed, these developers have destroyed any potential this game may have had.

I hate to say, but the entertainer professions are ignored mainly because you are not where the majority are, the majority is in combat. And with this CU (which is TOTALLY different from what was actually being planned) is to pull in customers from the EP3 release, and to become more familiar with EQ/EQ2 and WoW players, simple as that.

The very suggestion from one of the devs at the HoC chat in regards to non-combatants, to either get a PSG or hire protection is proof positive for me that these developers not only have no clue as to what they are doing, but don't care for the current playerbase to do it.

As for me, unfortunately, I will not be sticking around more than another month. Unless by the hand of god a miracle happens, I will be leaving this galaxy forever, setting my ship for hyperspeed with my pets in tow, and head for the farthest star I can find...
