Thread: who wants more instruments??

I think that SOE kinda got things wrong when they created all of the instruments. When you start out with Entertainer you should get simple horns and maybe drums.


Then as you progress you should get more complex horns and string instruments.


As you hit Musician you should start seeing the really wild multiple instruments.


I understand that this is a Sci-Fi setting, but it would really be nice to see a BAND with different style instruments (String, either violin or guitar, keyboard, percussion, and horns) All of the lower level bands I see are all horns. Granted when you get Master Entertainer you can get Guitarinstruments and such, but I do not and I'm sure others also don't haveinfinite Points pools. I am a Master DE and I need to have Master Artisan to make any droids above MSE droids. So unforturnately I get stuck with horns till I get higher in the Musician tree.


We need more instruments, not more horns. PLEASE.

Perhaps they're actually working on new instruments as we speak? Perhaps this long delay has been because they're trying to implement it all.

Who knows. Personally, I'd rather hear different sounds coming from different instruments. I only need to carry 5 instruments around to get every sound. There's what, at least 10 instruments (probably more, just don't feel like counting at the moment.) I'd be satisfied with newer sounds, rather then newer instruments.

What I'd really like is any guitar type instrument. I don't want to Master Entertainer just to play the Mandoviol, I want a string instrument of my own!

Not more coding to add new instruments. Actually, the problem is in creating the sound sources. For each instrument, you need the music for each song, plus 8 flourishes. That's actually pretty hard to do, and it takes a lot of space for a patch. Assume 5 seconds of sound per flourish, 20 seconds(5 to start, 5 to end, 10 in the repeated middle) of sound per song. That comes out to be about 4 minutes of music per instrument, and with optimal packing that probably comes to a bit over a megabyte. Add 3-4 new instruments, and you've got a patch everyone will hate us for...

Enough of this woodwind crap. WE NEED BRASS INSTRUMENTS!!! Or, at least ones that look like a brass instrument. I want to boogy down with a tuba, trombone, or baritone. Just SOMETHING.

While I would LOVE to see more instruments for us what I would much rather see is instruments that are crafted have experimentation add skill stat +'s to.


Example: I start crafting a bandfill, when I experiment I get the option to experiment battle fatigue +, mind wound +, or musical mind enhancement +. So I can make instruments that actually would be played in different situations depending on what I want at that time. This is something that shouldn't be a huge change though it would take a little recoding of the instrument crafting process but would Help out lots.


I don't know exactly how you would be able to give something like this to musicians while not leaving dancers out in the dark though...maybe put some sort of 'clothing' crafting in their tech tree? or a 'prop' crafting (something they can hold while dancing that will add the effect(s) )


just a thought...

Lets see.......how long has it been.....hmmmmm.....oh yeah, 7 frickin months...that is long enough to pump out 1 instrument. Ya know?

yeah they really need to add more entertainer, music, dancecontent.


so far since the game started all they added were bugged entertainer missions, and turned the buff ability on.

I'd be happy if they implemented instruments so that when I play the Imperial March (Star Wars 3) it actually *sounded* like the Imperial March.
