Thread: Dark times and A New Hope (The Jukebox)

Hey Lebob, see if you can convince them that we have a few Entertainers on the high ledges of Theed Palace and that any glimpse of what is to come might be enough to get them down and into safety...
*Tell them to spill the beans sooner rather than later*
(And I do understand how these things take time... I just don't feel like being understanding today... I want to be selfish... give me lots of chocolates, sweets and wine while I sit here waiting for the Devs to make-up with me)
Hehe, I hope when people read the things I type, they realize I am not one to take myself too seriously... my posts sound that way sometimes, but I'm a pretty fun-loving person... I recognize this is just a game.
May the force be with you.

I know, I know!
Is it this sentence: "End of the world? No."
OMG is it the end of the world???? Tell us what you know, LeBob! Then I won't have to pay my credit cards.
And did you just call me an OP? What is that?
I hope it's a good thing...

Holy cow, I hope it's not this sentence:

Nah, then it definitely would've been aand not a

Good edit. : )
I know Warryyr and others are trying to put a positive spin on this and I appreciate it. I'm holding judgement until I see how it plays out but I still feel as cheated by the devs as I ever have. They simply looked at one aspect of the communities wants and needs and totally forgot to think about us. There are no significant advantages a live band brings unless the event is outside. On the contrary the fact that this music is GREAT, real starwars music, and environmental means it has significant advantages over us. Remember we are talking events here, not buffing, not healing. Player events was the one space we couldn't be automated yet. The devs killed that in a few minute download this morning.

Question though,
In addition, a band must be clicked on and LISTENED to by each individual player. Isn't the jukebox play automatically when someone walks in? Different uses I think. Im unsure on this one though.
Help me understand the concerns behind the jukebox - because I don't see the problems.
Thanks all!
DING! DING! DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!
Let's see. More music, better music, new music, ambient music. These are key factors in why this is such a problem. The jukebox does everything we should be able to do as entertainerrs, we should be the best form of entertainment not some store bought piece of junk. When given a choice between the same old, same old player band and a new jukebox with real high quality music for a party or other event which do you think most will choose? If we get any new abilities I really doubt that they will be able to come up to the level of the jukebox in quality without a major revamp of the whole music system, something we have been told is a long way off if it will ever happen, and don't get me started on Dancer.
Maybe they were thinking along RP lines. Since the new music doesn't allow for seperate parts to be played, it's not worth it considering your lone musician won't be able to play the songs. I really hope they weren't thinking like this. It just doesn't make sense. If a song sounds like it has strings, percussion, and a couple horn varieties, then don't make the song playable until the members of the musician group has a mandoviol, ommni box, fizz, and slitherhorn. It provides another compelling reason to join a band. I mean, don't we want musicians to get to know each other and perform together, other than just congregating in a cantina, grouping up, and playing the lowest common denominator?
But maybe I'm just getting ahead of myself. After all, I'm no musician (in-game-wise, that is).

Too many sentences to choose from.
If you could put a striped sweater and scarf on the sentence... I think I'd be able to pick it out.

This is all so eerily familiar...but I can't quite remember....oh, yes. Right. When I expressed extreme dissatisfaction to a dev about the broken dance step for our quest, they gave a similar line. They said the majority of the entertainers would rather see it put out there ASAP rather than wait for a fix, so they pushed it out, and promised to fix it after the publish.
Hmm. Where IS that fix to Theatrical, I wonder?
Guys, we've heard it all before. From about 5 other correspondents and a horde of dev posts. Many times. There's always some reason on the horizon to hang in there. There's always something good coming down the pipe. Just wait, there are things in the works that'll blow us away. The devs are working hard. We have a revamp in the works. We have a lot of content coming. AFKing will be removed.
The words ring hollow after 1.5 years, guys. Either follow through for once or for the love of god, just stop talking and making promises.
I guess I'm jaded. Or perhaps I'm the only realist left who hasn't quit the game in disgust. Either way, further promises of proper attention to the entertainer professions don't inspire my loyalty. They insult my intelligence.

Warryyr, those are some very mature thoughts, and a great outlook on life.
Granted, I'm wondering what happened to bring you to this zen-like state, instead of tearing people's arms out, but I ain't complaining.
Anyways, I got my message with a little more info approved by the devs and have posted it in the Feedback thread. We may not win all our battles, but you can sure as hell believe that I'm going to be fighting as hard as I can for us back there. And if the tide turns, I'll be so happy to share the good times with all of you.

I got so mad, I think I like, used the Force or something. I can't get my pen to jump into my hand yet, though - but I am not a Jedi yet. I'll keep trying.
And thanks for the additional information.
I think it pretty much says - there were better ways to have implemented this. Given that it seriously impacts a profession's content (namely OURS), I would've thought more solicitation of our thoughts would've appeared around here. Instead we ended up with, "yeah, it might be kinda bad for your profession, but it's going Live anyways and we'll look into changing it sometime." I hope this is not an indication of the level of regard our profession is held with, in the Devs' discussions.
It's good to know they're open to changing how these are provided. It's bad that something that impacts the viability of our skills got put in this game in the first place, without Musicians ever really getting a chance to nix it or to be a factor in it's creation in-game.

Ok, I think this is the sentence, for real this time:
"This Publish has shaken a lot of Musicians to their core, more than I think the Devs have admitted to themselves."
The devs have been informed thouroughly of the extent to which we thought the community would be "shaken".
As we can see with other aspects of this publish and previous publishes, sometimes the schedule has a will of its own... however this is not the sentence I was thinking of.
Also, the devs are still open to thoughts on this issue as Aleyo explains very well in his quote in the other thread... this is very important, I think.
Lord above, please let it be this sentence:
"Because I knew Musician content was quite awhile away."
