You know what would be cool? If they made overhearing NPC rumors and conversations a real skill that we have all the time, not just for this 1 quest. We could overhear NPC conversations in Hotels and Cantinas all over the galaxies and get access to valuable information that we could then sell to other players in game. It would make entertainer a little bit more worthwhile i think.

I posted this to the dancer forum...but it applies here as well.

I have really got to find something else to do, if anything, to keep these crazy ideas from coming to me.

After doing the *new* new user experience, I got to thinking about how the entertainer section of the mayor's quests could be tailored into something different and more interesting for our mission terminals. All the code is there for this, it's just a matter of adapting it to our needs. It would essentially be a combination of the new *intelligence gathering* quest-style, the Theatrical quest, and the Force Sensitivity *Old Man* visits.

To start, the entertainer would visit the mission terminal. There would be the usual listing of gigs and such, along with a fee based on Entertainer Level (calculated in a similar fashion to Combat Level..The more exp spent in any Entertainer lines, the higher the level...and the higher the payout for the mission.)

Next, the entertainer would proceed to the venue and start performing. At some point during the performance, an NPC would be generated, enter the venue and start watching the entertainer. This is where the mission would potentially diverge to the intelligence gathering part, which would be a voluntary action on the part of the entertainer, but could generate a larger mission payout.

If the entertainer chooses to ignore the NPC (as an added cue, the NPC could address the Entertainer personally), then the mission would end as it normally does, and the Entertainer would receive the normal payout without any negative effects.

However, if the Entertainer decides to engage the NPC in conversation, there would be some general lead up, with the *patron* suggesting a specific dance/song/flourish they like/dislike. At this point, it would be up to the Entertainer to adjust their performance to cater to the patron's likes/dislikes. (However, this would not be as difficult as the Theatrical performances). After a predetermined random time in this performance and the Entertainer gaining a certain level of appreciation for their performance, the *patron* would offer information that would generate an entry in the Entertainer's quest journal. On completion of this part, a popup box would appear and give the Entertainer the choices of Rebel, Imperial, Criminal/Neutral, or Ignore.

Depending on the choice selected, a waypoint to a *contact* would be generated and located in the nearby vicinity (within the city/town....Sort of a one-time Entertainer SpyNet Operative). Alternatively, Rebel/Imperial *contacts* could be generated in the planetary stronghold city for that faction (ex. Naboo - Rebel: Moenia, Imperial: Deeja Peak) On arrival at the *contact*, the Entertainer would be asked to Sell the Information (mission/quest ends) or Gather More Information (generates a new mission related to the current information). For sale of the information, the Entertainer would receive double the original mission payout, with additional missions increasing the payout factor. As a limiting factor (beyond the original mission), subsequent missions would have an execution time limit (say, would expire in 1 hour). On an expiration, the Entertainer would receive a payout equal to the original mission payout multiplied by the last set extended mission multiplier. (ex. If I was on a quest/mission, had completed the requirement to get a 4x multiplier, took another related mission but it expired before I could start performing, I would receive original payout x 4).

About the only problems I can see at first glance is if the mission takes the Entertainer to a cantina that is populated most of the time, then the possibility exists that the NPC for your mission could potentially get lost in the sea of NPCs for other Entertainer missions. (Anyone that was involved in the initial beta tests for the Village...Think about the Dathomir Science Outpost on the first couple of nights of testing. heh)

This was just a kooky idea I had and I had the time to sit down and think about where this could go.
