Thread: How long does it take to macro master musician?
I finished dancer yesterday late afternoon and started musician when my slot did not unlock (real shock there).
Dancer took me about a week. Some people say musician takes longer but I do not think so. Musicians get more healing xp per tick I believe since they can flourish twice per 10 seconds. When finishing off Dancer I did not even have Novice Musician, but I played my Mandovial or whatever it is and I got more healing xp due to my playing than I got as a Dancer with level 4 Wound Healing and Level 2 Fatigue Healing. Pretty sad.
That being said the Music XP comes in at about 50% the rate of Dance XP and you need 1.2 million of it. As a novice musician in a large group I think I was getting in the low to mid 40s per tick whereas at Novice Dancer I believe in large groups it was closer to 80. Of course we were not playing the top song because not everyone in the group was able to play even sw3 not sure what difference that makes.
If you only get 40 per tick that is 240 per minute, and 14,400 per hour. If you are logged in 20 hours per day its 288,000 per day, and at that rate its like a little over 4 days, and then you have to fill up the healing xp. I am sure if I get into a full group of musicians and use my best instrument on a really good song I will get a lot more than 40 per tick so maybe assume 3-4 days solid for the music xp.
Healing xp depends on how much you are willing to pay to hire a master CM (MASTER... do not get a novice you are wasting your time!) who will disease all 3 mind stats every 10-12 minutes and hire a few victims who will sit there and get diseased and watch you. In 3 hours yesterday I got 170,000 healing xp but I spent like 200,000 credits maybe more. You can get this done cheaper, easily, I just tip high. Get another 9 entertainers and split the cost 10 ways and you will all get amazing healing xp.
If you work really hard at it my guess is it could be done in 5 days maybe 4 if you are really good and have a lot of friends specifically a CM with lots of time on their hands. At worst if you put even a mild effort into it my guess is 1 week.
Keep in mind you can craft instruments for xp. Slitherhorns is 45 of any metal, 15 second schematic, 93 xp on practice mode. You need 1,225,000 music xp for 2 of your 4 skill lines. I do not recommend making using 592,740 pieces of metal to make 13,172 slitherhorns as it is costly and will make you want to kill yourself, but its nice to have the option there if you are close to a new skill box and instead of watching the xp drip in you make a couple hundred instruments to get a new skill enabling you to play a new song with a better instrument.
This post is not meant to trivialize the profession or insult the true musicians out there. I like musician so far a lot more than dancer, and the buffs are more useful, and I like the whole band thing. For those of you who enjoy being a Musician and took 3 months to master it I am not saying "ha ha I am 733t and can master your stinky profession in 3 days n00b!". I am trying to answer the original poster's question.
Stop hating the AFKers and the grinders. Play the game and enjoy it as you see fit. If someone's definition of fun is grinding every single day and is intent on mastering 32 professions only to open up a Jedi character that they will have to grind another 3-4 months to the point where its really more like a job than a game (I hope I am the only one who has to do all 32 professions would be sweet!), who are you to argue? We don't hate YOU for spending your game time in a cantina socializing. Sure I think its a bit odd, but I certainly don't hate you, and I am not going to go out of my way to make posts about how you are killing the game and you should be ostracized and banned and shot.

I am a hologrinder and I want to get out of the cantina and leave it to the real entertainers ASAP. How long can I expect to be in here?
depends how big a group you can stay in. larger groups give you more XP, so try to stay in a big group. i think you can do it in three days. from novice entertainer.ingnore the trolls on this board they are the are a bunch of babys.
woah tiaga... i thought the flames on the jedi board were bad... wow, ok well... ya i did dancer in less then a week.. 6 days it took me.... im guessing (blindly) that musician will take 8-9 days for me... i leave SWG running from 3:00 PM till 6:00 AM the next day, every day i do that so its 15 hours a day.... the reset happens while im at school and i cant turn it back on....
Ive been working on it for a week. All I have left is two Level 4 healing slots. (Oh My) So only 250k healing exp to go... Acutally I have enjoyed musician I actually have met some nice friends and roleplayed alot lately. All I hope is that my next holo doesnt say Dancer. Oh My.. I dont think I can take another week in the cantina....
LMAO! Theres always 1 or 2 people in each of the "less popular" proffession forums who get offended by holo grinder questions.
Try to remember people, this is a game and you are not really Kenny G or Barishnikov. I doubt if you would have enjoyed the pikeman profession, but I wouldnt have whined if you didnt want to make a career out of it. I didnt enjoy the BE profession either. But YES, its something we have to do if we want to become jedi.
So get over it.

It is not one or two people. And being a pikeman that doesn't enjoy it doesn't effect other pikemen at all. Being an entertainer does.
Yes, it is a game. Games are supposed to be fun. And these people are ruining the fun for us, and not having fun themselves. Maybe they are the ones who need to be reminded it is just a game.
I'm still a little confused as to how AFKing in cantinas affects the other, "true" entertainers. As far as I can tell, it doesn't. Tiaga, I can see that you take your profession very seriously, and I would assume many aspiring Jedi treatthe Jedi professionwith that same regard. Think of musician/dancer as a pre-requisite to Jedi for some of those people. If there was some pre-requisite to dancer that you didn't feel like completing, but still wanted to be a dancer, would you have logged out and cancelled your account, as you put it? Or perhaps you would have simply created a new character after possibly having mastered a number of other pre-requisite professions, and spending countless credits on holocrons to advance your current one.
I don't think so.
Basically, let people play the game as they see fit. No one way is the absolute correct way to play it, it's just whatever way the individual playing it has the most fun. You claim that these people are somehow making the game less fun for you, but I'm pretty sure your constant berating of them is putting a damper on their enjoyment as well. Stop being so condescending, as though you're somehow more adept at being an entertainer because while you were dancing you sat in front of your computer and talked to people instead of doing something else. Oh wow, that certainly required more skill. I bet you really gained some priceless knowledge about being a dancer that some AFKer never could. /sarcasm off.
But you know what? Even if you did somehow learn something about entertainment from all the hours of mundane cantina conversation, it doesn't matter, because this is a star wars computer game. There's no reason to be an ass when someone asks a simple question. I'm fairly certain that it is you who needs to take the game a little less seriously.
But that's just me.
Holo grinders dont adversely affect the "real" entertainers, only the whiney unresourceful ones.
Ive said it before and ill say it again, if youre not good enough at your profession to come up with ways to draw your own crowd, or bring in your own business (Buffs etc) then youre not that much of an entertainer.
I didnt have much trouble getting some business and tips in the middle of the Coronet cantina even when there were 30+ holo grinders in there.
And even before holo grinders started to appear most of the master musicians and dancers that I saw were COMMONLY afk. So all youre mad about is that you cant go AFK and get tips anymore (Because now youre just like the holo grinders). Youre just mad that you have to stay at your keyboard and put on a show to keep your audience, either that or you never did put on a show and theres no difference between you and someone who's afk, so your mad that your audience realized this.
/whine /whine... /whine /whine.
Shut it drama queen, your not the center of attention anymore. Its your own fault, try being entertaining and you wont have any problems.
I have been grinding Musician for 2wks... almost there, maybe this weekend. I cannot play everyday, maybe 10-20hrs a week... but I have been setting up for afk playing in the cantina's..which helps, cause one day, I actually got over 30k healing xp ![]()
