When you think about it, any system is exploitable. The best system is the one which is either hardest to exploit (i.e. takes a 3rd party program) or one which is not conducive to exploiting (i.e. fun). People will always find the shortcuts in everything, we need to just make it so that the shortcut is not too shorter than the real way.

lol. I tried that. I bought one thinking ohh that would be great for when I'm out at like Endor or Dath. Then afterwards I found out you needed merchant to use it... So I had the spare points I figured I would go up into merchant... once I got there then I found out you had to have Advertising of some level I heard a few different things about which level of Ad it was so I went up the Ad tree.. I'm at Ad 3 right now I have 0 sp left and I still can't use it. I figure you need Ad 4 to use the stupid droids. Great. At least having a vendor is giving me something new to do.

I would just like to say Iwould rather see a live person than a buff bot. Most of the entertainers are AFK and do not respond to mytells about mind buffing.
When the Hologrind is gone and then againafter the Combat Balance, I'm sure that you will see business pick up.
My tip would be to put a barker droid infront of the local starport to let possiblecustomers know you are in the cantina.

How do we know business will pick up when buff bots will remain a problem? Oh and only merchants can use those barker droids; and furthermore, I'd rather not use one as it would make me as bad as the spammers at the Coronet starport or the AFKs who spam for tips and heals.

You can be a Master Entertainer, and Master Dancer, and Master Musician, and novice Merchant. You wouldstill have 12 Skill points left.

Just name your droid MIND BUFF and leave him. He dosen't have to actually "Bark" anything. Peoplecan get a waypoint from him by clicking on him.

I've never been able to give him a waypoint... but renaming him might work... I'll just buy a new one here when I get the money and name that one something useful.

I'm not sure how it works but my waypoint to a Buff Bot came from a droid

Ermm...I believe that when the hologrind is over, our Cantinas will be much more pleasant places to be and there will be more of us true entertainers there. This is a wonderful thing, and will do wonders for us.

However, buffbots really have nothing to do with the hologrind. They will still be there and continue to grow in number until the devs decide to make buffing an atk only activity.

So I have to have novice merchant to make any money as a musician? What if you (a MBH it seems) had to use your final 33sp to get a skill that had no use other than that someone told you that you COULD do that to make money(Let's say Artisan)? You wouldn't accept that, you'd say that as a MASTER BH you deserve to be able to make money with those skills. By the same token a MASTER ent and musician deserves to be able to make money with those skills alone.

Actually Tokaf I had to take Ranger tracking skills in order to finish with the Investigation line of skills because, the BH droids don't work very well.

Now that I'm an MBH I have to take Pistoleer Technics 2 at least, inorder to get certified in a "Geo pistol." The Geo pistol is the best type of pistol to use in PvP because it uses STUN damage, and is not total garbage (the tangle pistol is a very poor substitute). Stun damage is the Only damage that can penatrate "PvP composite armor" with any success.(You may have heard about fencers and their Stun batons)

So even me a MBH with the highest Skill Point expense after Jedi, I still have to take skills out of other classes inorder to advance. The whole BH comminutyhas complained to the DEVs form the beginning that the BH missions/Droids/classare borked, but now, even a year later they still haven't fixed them.

The point is evey class in this game has to take other skills to make greater money. When I offer suggestions to you guys here that are asking "How can I make money when such an such happens" I give you suggestions on how to work around it, some of the entertainersare trying them while others don't.

You still seem to not understand what NEED is... When talking about what you simply need in game, there is actually nothing you need. You simply perceive the need. No one says you HAVE to win at PvP, you want to though. Want and need are separate things.

"The first character I ever played more than an hour was an entertainer by the name of Tokaf on the Bloodfin server. I played (at the keyboard) for 2 or 3 months (I don't really remember how long anymore) until I finally reached master musician. At the time, we didn't have buffs or anything else for that matter that had been added to us since launch. After a while, I slowly stopped playing that character and switched to another, and stopped playing altogether in January, having tried buffing someone with my musician character maybe once. I recently resubscribed, thinking that maybe something had changed with the class, and sadly, I was completely wrong."

I went through the exact same process. I started playing in August as a dancer, quickly mastered but found master to be useless, then tried some other stuff, but became disillusioned. I left the game in December and came back 2 weeks ago.

"It seems everyone on this board can't wait for publish 9 and how it will take us back to the "good old days" where entertainers were ATK and people tipped. I for one don't remember any time like this, only a time where the problems we face now were less severe."

I'm totally with you on that. Seems people who have stayed in the game have short memories. There was never a time when the entertainer professions didn't have significant problems. AFK macroing was the talk of the forums before the hologrind, so it's not as if the demise of the hologrind will stop the problem.

Some people just like to fool themselves that change for the better is just around the corner. I guess it gets them through each day. I like to keep a more realisticattitude.

"I remember when everyone tipped, no matter how cheap it was."

You're joking, right? If you think there was a time when 'everyone' tipped, you must be thinking of some other game, because as long as I've been playing I never saw even a majority of players tipping. I was away for 6 months from December to May, but I seriously doubt that anything changed during that time.

"Tokaf, what do you think can fix AFK'ing? Some people suggest an itnterface overhaul, like that for ID, might do the trick. My worry is that something like that might just make the profession more annoying for "real" entertainers without necessarily stopping all AFK'ing. My preferred solution would be for SWG to emulate most other MMORPGs and simply eliminate the recursive macro."

The interface change would be my first choice. Doing away with recursive macros would force us to attend to the mechanics of dancing. What we need is something that relieves that and solves the problem. I don't see your point ofhow an interface would be more annoying. Surely getting rid of recursive macros would be a greater annoyance, since it would mean that we'd have to attend to keeping dancing which is a constant activity. An interface would only impact buffs and heals, which is an occasional activity. Clearly, adding an interface would be less distracting for real entertainersthan getting rid of recursive macros. When I'm chatting or buffing, I get caught up in the conversation. I don't pay attention to whether I'm dancing/playing, and I shouldn't have to. What I should have to pay attention to is my job of buffing. If I have to punch my macro button every 2 minutes I will either forget, or I'll be too busy thinking of punching that macro button to concentrate on my client.

Having said that, I'm desperate at this point, so I'd take either option if one was offered.
