FWIW, I made a general reference to this idea in my most recent post in the Correspondent Forum. This is the kind of idea that appeals to the devs the most. It's feasible to implement within the current code base; it wouldn't require a massive rewriting of code; and it wouldn't stir up any significant opposition from any other profession.

Yeah, because God forbid the Developers actually do any significant work for us. We're so not worth doing any extensive work on.

It would give us more to do -- sussing out what the best materials are for the best instruments, spending more time crafting, etc. In the long run, I'm optimistic we'll get some of these changes. In the short run, I'm not, just because the devs have other priorities in the short run: JTL and the combat revamp chief among them.

Incidentally, Echinacea, I can certainly understand if people turn the sound off. The best music gets old when you hear it every day for fifteen months. Me, I always play with player music on. I still enjoy hearing Folk and Ballad after all these months. Call me crazy.

Actually, I do move the Music slider back on during Folk and Ballad, too

They sound cool. I've been messing more with my Playback Droid, too - anything to make me sound more interesting. I run a /bandflo macro with my droid, and I turn /bandflo off - then I equip the same horn as what the droid is playing, and flourish away. It's like dueling horns, sounds pretty cool and nicely layered.

Dueling bandfills sound wicked too, if you fudge with it a bit.

You need an amendment for that statement Warryyr, both myself and NJ, and possibly a few others around here have played a lot longer than 4 months and I still love Folk, Ballad, Waltz, Jazz and even SW3 hehe

I, of course, mean everyone I know in-game

And you're right, it's always a bad idea to use words like "everyone."

So, here's my amendment:

So many peopleI know have Player Music turned off. I'm more entertaining by the crazy stuff I say and /emote than with any of the so-called "skills" I possess as an Entertainer.

I still listen to and love the player music... I use every instrument in the tree from time to time as the fancy strikes me.

When I join a group I always listen for the missing sound, bring out that instrument and start playing. My favorite thing to see in spatial chat is;

"Wow you guys sound great!"

I'm frequently surprised that people say they've never heard a particular song. Maybe people are accustomed to hearing giant leveling groups play Rock and Star Wars 1 nonstop. If I fire up Jazz, Virtuoso, Waltz, or Ceremonial, I often get "ooh, that sounds nice."

And yes, I play with music on for all the songs. There really isn't a song I dislike. There are particular combos of song/instrument/flourish I don't love (chiefly SW1 on the slitherhorn, lol), but in general I think they did a great job with our music. I just want MORE MORE MORE of it. Big time. I want THIRTY new songs! (Tiggs, if you're lurking, ya got that? )

I guess I must be one of the rare freaks out there that NEVER turns off the music. I'll leave the cantina if the music sounds bad. I don't even mind SW1 and rock.

Include me in the ranks of those who have played for a long while, and who always keep the music on.
I figure it's my responsibility to make sure what I hear sounds good. If the group I'm in is hurting my ears, I try to suggest anything from bandflourishes, flourishing at all, changing the song, changing instruments, whatever. And if that doesn't work, I might end up leaving the group to soothe my ears. I'm more about the music than the xp, so I'm willing to make that sacrifice.

not to mention the fact that many of the instruments sound exactly the same, a little variety would be appreciated im sure.

i still do too but i wont listen to certain songs anymore ... starwars1 only if i am playing a mand with my droid on bandfill, rock i wont listen too anymore, starwars 2 and 3 are very rare and only played if someone requests it or for helping group members exp. virtuoso... nearly never... the song just has zero star wars feel for me... sounds too much like a second rate performance at a vegas casino/

Last night I joined a Musician and not only listened but totally enjoyed the songs. She plays on a number of servers from what she said, I know her as Tammy on Corbantis. I've got a lot to learn but she was able to drive 3 of us and her droid through band flow with group flourishes and targeted solo's. SW2 on three Mando's for an 8 minute song that simply rocked hands down; and that was just one of several we played! It was real, complete, inspiring, and fun music. I'm so close to master yet gave up 2 hours of exp to perform as a real band, it was magical.

It is possible to do a lot more with this than I ever imagined, now I just have to pick that lady's brain
