Frankly, I'm surprized that you'd want something like this to replace you. The way it's proposed, it offers an additional cash flow and exp flow, while not decreasing usefulness or necessity of the profession as a whole. I guess I just don't understand why that's a problem.

i dont understand the purpose of it then. other than having something to play music while no ents are there, or providing an npc to watch.
You said ents will still be sought out for fast healing. then whats the purpose? BTW droid playback can play without a musician there. just have the musician record it then give it back.
If by not healing very fast you are saying they will seek out entertainers, well, then whats the point? If they arent goign to use it, and go find an entertainer anyways?
The point is for people to have an item to keep on them for when they either can't find an entertainer, or are somewhere remote and traveling to an entertainer isvery inconvenient. I have found myself in similar circumstances several times, and know many people who have also. If there is no reasonable access to an entertainer for some reason, be it no entertainers arearoundand / or the location is remote... thensomething is better than nothing. It plays a substitute in only limited circumstances, and in a diminished manner. A live entertainer is still the most desirable as this only heals at a diminshed rate, and can't buff.
See my point is that if it doesnt replace the entertainers than it is worthless. That is why i dont like this idea.
Any profession that can be replaced by a crafted item,is a useless profession. That is to be avoided. This is a supplement to Dancer and Musician, not a replacement.

Ok i got a little confused cause i didnt read what was in the quotes. I see what you are saying, but again, if it doesnt heal fast, or not all of it, people will just go to coronet or theed where they know there will be entertainers. it would be faster, and cheaper, to just go to coronet. besides that most people who do not have doc, go there for buffs anyways.
With the crafting part, it is BF that effects it (supposedly) and since that cant be healed in a camp, it would do no good in that situation - and if you are already at a town, well, might as well make that shuttle jump.
I am not sure i understand what you mean by a supplement. We would not be playing alongside the item. Anything that does my job, with me not being, there is a replacement
.
But i think i understand what you are saying. I still am against it because really from my point of view im seeing it as a worthless item or a replacement. If you go get healed and no entertainer there, are you not replacing me?
But knowing SOE they wouldnt make it strong, to keep us alive, and it would never be used.

Actually, to be able to access the radial command to start playback requires novice musician - however, with just novice entertainer you should be able to do a /startband command to get the droid playing if it's grouped with you.
Just so people don't get excited

bah i didnt know that
well thats kind of sad. Thanks for letting me know though. I have never been below master musician having one so i made an assumption since i dont need to be playing to get it going.
wierd. That just doesnt make sense.

#1: Make the recordings consumable (we love repeat business!). Maybe the most effective way to do this is to make the recording media decay after N uses. Give the skill to create the media to some branch of Artisan that doesn't lead to Droid Engineer or Architect (to spread the wealth).
#2: Quality of the medium and quality of the Recording Studio (Architect) and quality of the Playback Module and quality of the Droid's speakers/holo projector all affect the level of healing. I'm a frustrated Instrument Maker, can't you tell?
#3: There should be no situation in which a recorded solution is preferable to a live entertainer. Thus no BF healing except in Cantinas (if at all), no Mind Wound healing except in camps, cantinas, etc.
#4: The recording should not be an amplifier for the performer's healing ability - just a time/space shift. Put another way, the time put into making a recording should be better spent actually healing.
I still don't know if it's a good idea. It adds a dimension to the game, which I like. If done right it should help the live entertainers a little, and hurt the buffbots a lot.
