I have no problem with people getting Jukeboxes if they want a full 8 hours of music and they don't want to pay the price to bring in a live band. All I ask is that those of us who make up the Music industry in Galaxies have a majorrole in the creation of the jukeboxes. It seems pretty low of them to add musical content without having it be Musician content.

Yeah, you know - you're right.

If we could at least craft these things or something, it would be acceptable.

Having an NPC sell our skills at 25k is really what insults me the most, with the fact that a terminal plays music better than us coming in at a close second.

I think that the ultimate means of implenting this would be to allow Musicians to craft jukeboxes, AND give us a flexible/personalized music creation process - and then we couldsell our music to folks so that they can use it in their jukeboxes. Just like real Musicians do, with CD's and stuff.

But, that would require significant development dedicated to us, the likes of which we've never seen.

/agree It would help a lot if we had something to do with this. I'm trying my best to be positive in spite of the feeling that we're being replaced by bots..again. (I'm in my 4th day as a non-smoker..I'm not happy. /comb)

Heh, /calm.

I decided yesterday to stop - I'm tired of the hassle of getting them, and spending money for them. And I should really stop anyhow, ya know that whole health thing....

4 days! Keep it up!

What made me do it: someone who has never complained about it or tried to get me to quit just said "it worries me when I hear you cough". I don't want him to worry.

/yanks thread back on topic!

Off-topic postscan bethe comic relief for long response info threads like this...

It is like serious... serious... serious... laugh...laugh some more... serious... serious....

Off-course they can also derail a thread entirely, which Ideally is never the intention... more a mere detour...

OK my initial reaction was that I neede to hear them.

I have set up a house on Testcenter and its public. One should be able to go in and listen. Its outside Theed at -5275 3331. Beware if you are rebel. The place is SWARMING with stormies. I have even have some in the sitting room.

I'm listening to it now and it scares me. The quality is (mostly) better than we can play. There is more variety of style. I mean MUCH more.

THERE ARE 29 tracks!!!!

Many appear to be just under 1 minute looping, but I have not heard them all.

Most are orchestral or true instrumental. "Hard Rock" sounds like a very BAD MP3 of Lapti Nek.

"Star Wars Intro" is straight from the intro....which was straight from the soundtrack. Naboo Celebration is straight from the closing credits of Ep 1.

I could post them all but its easier to just go there and listen.

What is not available is the degree of control we get as performers, but with our interface and limited songs, there is not too much of that.

We will be replaced (again) by these. Its much easier to aquire, cheaper, has more variety, and the event promoter has full control.

I do NOT like them. Well I do like them as a device, but not for the profession.

Oh you do need to be admin to change tracks......

Post here or mail Fragpuppie on TC and I can add you. Otherwise you'll need a house and 25K creds to set up your own.

I'll keep setting em up if people want to listen.

Everyone's going to love them.

And I believe the response to Esharra's post here is indicative of exactly the attitude everyone will give us for our complaints - "Musicians won't get hired? Whoopity freakin' do!" Think they'll be crying because they save a ton of money on music for their event?

Everyone is all giddy and happy and harrah-ing for Jukeboxes. I think we're screwed.

Oh well, fun while it lasted. I'll be a piece of furniture in no time, if I'm even put on display anymore. I'll be the old couch made at Novice Architect that really doesn't look so cool anymore, and is placed in some forgotten backpack. The Devs should have put more thought in how insulting and disastrous this would be for Entertainers - you know guys - the ones who ENTERTAIN. The performers who PERFORM. It's too late to pull the plug now. People have wanted something like this, it's being given to them for 25k (which isn't exactly chump change, but sure would be a nice big KA-CHING for Musicians if we could make and sell them).

And after Virrago showcased our lovely Cantina Crawls, and our oh-so-pretty purple forum skin was made, our days of performing solely as performers are coming to a close. For the low, low price of 25k credits.

Nobody is going to pay us anything worthwhile, when they can spend 25k for 8 hours of REAL MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT.

I'm going to stop thinking about this, it's making me too angry. What a kick in the knickers.

If this goes Live the way it is, dare I say that I'll drop my Musician skills on Starsider? Hell yes, I think I will. Why in the hell would I waste skillpoints on being a "Musician" when a terminal provides everyone the same thing I can, but with better sound and more variety? Why bother...yes, I'm upset. I need a timeout I think. (lack of nicotine methinks lol)

Anyhoo, I certainly we get to craft these things. If not then I'm one unhappy Wookiee.

Were you able to get someone else with admin to control it? Pappi gave me temp admin on her cantina on TC, and I dropped the jukebox and was the only one who could control it. Pappi and someone else with admin could not.

Anyways, thanks for the feedback thus far folks. I'll be bringing this up with the devs now.

Haven't tried.....noone has asked.

I will say that I bounced briefly to try another char before I granted admin and the Juke stayed, but I logged for 2 hours and it poofed.

Things I now want to test.....

1) How "ambient" is ambient. It seems like I can only hear it when I'm in the same room of my Naboo small. I wonder if it is the same for a PA hall or Cantina or if its quiet farther away like musicians.

2)What happens if you have 2 of them playing at one time....or 3...on different songs? Will it sound as bad as a the old grind groups?

I'll be home in about 2 hours, and I'd love to mess with these things and test this stuff out. Maybe pick up some deeds and put us both on admin, then see what we can do.

There's free houses of all sorts off the frogs, right? Not just smalls...don't remember if it's only smalls or not. If it is, then we could just pick up Architect and get some big houses made up and stuff.
