All that would happen with the microphone proposal is that the bots would all grab one and stay there. They would log in at each server reset beside their favorite mic and hold it till the next server reset. This idea tries to attack the symptom not the cause. The cause is the ability for a guild to all pitch in a little bit to set up an alt account then leave it running unattended 24/7. The only way to fix our profession and so many other issues in this game are to remove AFK play.

Since removing AFK doesn't seem to be a real goal for SOE, after all actions speak louder than words, I have an alternate proposal. Make MM/MD a zero skill point tree, make the jukebox provide buffs, make it placeable only by MM/MD and then I'll have the points to flush out my combat and harvesting abilities while keeping the music skills to use for plain old fun. Forget about our mechanics as a benefit to the GCW or the game, people simply don't want it. They want to log in, be UBAR within 30 seconds, and find a target within 35 seconds. So now that I've said that lets remove buffs, make ham pools have buff level stats, and unarmored players have comp like resists. Lets forget about content and make this the FPS that the majority seems to want. Why bother the devs with any effort or original thought, the majority of the player base doesn't want that they just want doom with a starwars skin.

I'm not bitter about the jukebox or the GCW changes that have turned the cantina into a war zone, nope not at all.

You get tipped? /gasp /faint

My last tip came to me as a tell: You'd make more money if you went AFK and did buffs.

I have to say it again, you get tipped?

All the time. Frequently by people who say things like "It's nice to see an actual live musician for a change" or "I make it a point to always tip live entertainers."

The last time I got tipped credits was over a month ago, and after 4 hours in the cantina talking to everyone that came in was only a whopping 8k. Made just enough to buy some accargram with 18 uses I don't spam for tips or heals at all and I still get snubbed. It can't be clothes since I tend to dance in as little as possible and play music the same way. Maybe if I make her taller with bigger bre...... /blushes red

That is simply dispicable
I make great tips and the entertainers and patrons have a wonderful time together!
I only do music buffs and team up with a couple other buffing dancers and musicians to entertain the visitors.
I'm not even some near-nude sexy female - I'm a big male wookiee!
I try leading the group as much as I can and keep it as full as possible with those who are learning their professions while still leaving room for those who want buffs.
Creating a presence makes all the difference.
Have FUN with it!

I hate to say it but you need to switch servers. I get tips, good tips for buffs, and amazing pay for doing DWB group buffs on Endor. I could make a ton more harvesting animal resources and did before taking up musician but I make quite enough to live on and not touch my original funds from my harvesting days.

I agree. I have NEVER had any problems getting enough to at least pay for my Accarragm habit no matter which of the servers where I play thatI was on... and I have dancers and/or musians on several servers. Even my character for the Masque (a Sullustan) geot several good tips... and free clothing.

I have had one of my Bothan dancers told by a Wookiee that he loved her.

My Rodian dancer/musician has been hit on by a human (who told me that "once you go human, you'll never go back." - I should then have asked him why he was hitting on a Rodian if that was thecase, but I didn't think of that until later ).

My Rodian actually has done better than any of my other entertainers... she has gotten 100k tips several days in a row.

...and always, ALWAYS these people tell me that it is great to see a LIVE entertainer.

I'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong then? I greet people coming in, I talk to them about what they are doing, I never spam Tip me or Heal me, and I never go AFK (unless I need to use the bathroom or something else that takes a few minutes). Every other entertainer I know on Valcyn gets tipped. My soon to be in game wife on Radiant gets tips all the time. Maybe it's because of the general treatment I get from the public that has really soured my life as an entertainer. Why do I have to be the one always getting kicked around and treated like garbage? I can't figure out for the life of me what I did to deserve this.

This is the Valcyn server? I would like to help you with this. Please answer the following questions... both for you and your in-game fiance:

What is your character's race/gender?

How do you dress (exact description of the outfit you wear)? What do the other entertainers and zombies who perform there wear?

Have you had your character get a makeover from a good ID or do you still have the look you made at character creation?

Where do you perform (Town/Cantina &location in structure)? Where do the other entertainers & zombies there perform (location in structure)?

What do the other entertainers (if any... zombies don't count for this one) who perform there DO?

Forgot one: How many bots/zombies are present where you perform?

This is the Valcyn server? I would like to help you with this. Please answer the following questions... both for you and your in-game fiance:

What is your character's race/gender? On Valcyn, Twi'lek Female On Radiant, Female Twi'lek

How do you dress (exact description of the outfit you wear)? What do the other entertainers and zombies who perform there wear? Red/Black Metal Bikini & Extremely revealing skirt with red lekku wrap , Teal/Gold Metal Bikini and bikini leggings with gold bone crest and gloves, Purple fleshwrap and lekku wrap, Black fleshwrap and lekku wrap, Black exotic leotard and black lekku wrap, Purple/Black decorative vest with matching pants, Purplegrand healers robe. Most of the entertainers wear single outfits like metal bikini/revealing skirt, exotic leotard, revealing top/skirt, shirt/pants. Red low cut top/revealing skirt, Purple revealing top and black pants, purple revealing top and purple/gold skirt, and she has a few new outfits I haven't seen yet

Have you had your character get a makeover from a good ID or do you still have the look you made at character creation? Yes, I recently had a make over to get purple eyes and markings but I kept the same skin tone since I haven't seen any other Twi'leks with that color (Teal colored leaning towards green). I didn't change her height or bust size because I like her being short and small busted. Most of the other females tall with huge busts. To the best of my knowledge, no.

Where do you perform (Town/Cantina &location in structure)? Where do the other entertainers & zombies there perform (location in structure)? Mostly Theed Cantina since it is 90% Live entertainers in the main room. No one performs any where else other than the main room in Theed. I never perform in Coronet due to lag, severe spam, and everyone performs by the front door. Tattoine is dead, hardly anyone visits the cantinas there. Coronet Cantina, main floor. Used to be lots of bots on the main floor and several buffbots on the floor and in alcoves as well.

What do the other entertainers (if any... zombies don't count for this one) who perform there DO? Greet people, talk to them, never spam tip me or heal me or come visit vendor X at XX,YY She greets people and never spams for tips or heals

Forgot one: How many bots/zombies are present where you perform? 2 or 3 tops, usually buffbots, out in the side alcoves of the canitna. As for the main floor performers, if someone goes AFK, they may get booted from the group (depending on who is lead a the time). Too many to count, lol. Coronet is usually AFK central with a few live entertainers mixed in.

I put a lot of thought and effort into making my entertainer, her outfits, and how she interacts with people. Somehow, I just don't get what I did wrong to get snubbed and never tipped. I got tipped when I first started dancing and playing but then it trailed off to 0 tips rather quickly. I'm lucky to get into a group most of the time. I ask once or twice and usually get ignored. And I don't run in yelling invite plz, I look around to see who is in a group and ask "May I get an invite to the entertainer troupe (or group)please?". I wait 5 to 10 minutes and ask again. If i don't get an invite, I just go dance or play music somewhere else in the cantina. I still don't know what I did to deserve this kind of treatment.

Hmmm... I can't see anything in your answers that would account for it then... especiallysince your in-game fiance is a very similar character. What is your character's name and what time of day do you play (in pacific time)? Maybe if I made a character on Valcyn and came to the Theed Cantina while you are there, I could do more to help you figure out what the cause of this is.

Actually, my entertainer is the money maker out of my two characters. Yes, I have days where I dont make diddily because of the darn buffbots but I have days where I make pretty good credits. Ive seen people fight for the only buffbot and ignore me but most times I get compliments on being a LIVE ent. And get tipped on top of that.

I'm usually on in the evenings during the week, logging in around 4 or 5 pm PST (depending on when I get home from work). Her name is Celaki Goshi, a teal colored Twi'lek. Yesterday was a really bad day, I was dancing in the mining outpost next to a dead AFK musician. People came in, so I greeted them with "Hiyas! How are you?" only to get ignored. They saw the dead AFKer, mourned it, and walked out. Then people came in to watch me for heals, not even having the common courtesy to respond back with a simple hello but will talk to a doctor for everything else. It was really discouraging and kinda hurt a lot to be snubbed like that.

One of the things I did when creating her was to take the things my in game fiance does on Radiant and incorporate them with what I did as a musician. I'd be honored to have your guidance and help in this manner. /bow

As a side note: Originally I was planning on mastering Dance/Entertainer with Music 4/0/4/0. Currently I'm leaning towards Master Entertainer/Pistoleer 4/0/4/0 Dancer/Musician. I like to go out and hunt with friends and guildmates, but my current 10% buffs are pretty lame for going to hunt NS and krayts. I really don't want to give up being an entertainer, many of my friends come to Theed or where ever I'm at just to see me dance or me play music. I love playing the mandoviol more than any other insturment (Valcyn doesn't appear to have many MEs on it) and my performance at the Miss Mos Tutela Contest with it was dynamite.
