Thread: Combat Upgrade Test Results
I /bugged it, as I'm sure it's just a bug, but one that made for a satisfying evening where I was not being fined 28k for saying "I am a Rebel."
-A few other random observations, as I was unable to test for too long last night:
-I think the icons for flourishes are quite distracting.
-Despite the queueing animation of pressing a flourish button, we are still able to spam flourishes at full speed and have them all register server-side.
-The currently bugged names-not-appearing-over-anyone's-heads makes things more difficult than I ever would have realized.
-We do not seem to be able to buff in any capacity. All of our old buffs have been moved into the Doctor skill tree. /setperf is in, but that may be an artifact to everyone currently having access to every profession's console commands, including some that have been removed.
-Not for Musicians, but some of the new names for abilities are just silly. Deuterium toss for Combat Medics? Heavy water is in every water supply in the world, do Super-Soakers really have a DOT irl?
-Players on normal TC who were on TC-5 are very polite. Other server players are generally impatient and not testing. They are just using TC-5 as a template builder.
So yeah. In total, I feel like we are not going to be much affected by the CU if they either tune up Battle Fatigue or the xp from healing it. I may be way off on the buffing thing, as it was 3 in the morning when I was finally able to log on, and I did not have more than a half hour before I dozed.
If your action/constitution/whatever gets too low, test whether you are unable to flourish, and whether you eventually stop playing music.
Results: I had to use a bug to be able to test this, at least on SW1 and a slitherhorn, since the regeneration for action/constitution/whatever was fast enough to not allow it to get low enough. Since higher instruments/songs increase the action cost on live, it's a possibility (though I don't foresee it) that at higher levels the regeneration will not be fast enough to infinitely spam flourishes, so this could be pertinent. In any case, once my action/constitution/whatever got low enough, I started seeing system messages that I could not perform a flourish, and shortly thereafter, I stopped playing due to not having enough action/constitution/whatever.

did our profession skill boxes change at all? I haven't been able to log in.
I didn't actually take a good look at them, just because I heard many people saying that no, they haven't changed at all (including the bonuses to mind wound healing that mean nothing).
I can confirm what Aleyo said.
About the only changes I saw were the addition of new icons for various skills.
Wound healing remained, which as no purpose. It also referred to healing Mind/Focus/Willpower when you hovered your cursor over the wound healing skill mod, which is totally useless as Mind/Focus/Willpower no longer get wounded at all - only Health.
So, yeah - we're Battle Fatigue healers, and we have wasted skillpoints on obsolete wound healing. Buffing looks to remain completely unchanged as well, though no one has gotten to novice dancer ormusician yet.
Great way to be treated when I pay money for this game. Obsolete skills? Are you freaking kidding me? This is just disgusting.
Make the boxes 100% blank. Anything is better than being shown that you're cared so little about that they couldn't even bother to touch ANYTHING for my professions. This is a sorry excuse for a Dev team. Something had better change in our skilltrees. It better.

As I said in my post, doctors have mind and mind regen buffs now. I doubt we retain this ability now.
Amazing I don't remember having to go off to a class before I could hold a shotgun. I got a bit of training before my dad actually let me fire it the first time some 40 years ago but simply holding it was no big effort.
The musician tree is unchanged from how it is now.
I try to stay positive about changes to our profession however this causes me great concern.
If healing battle fatigue becomes our sole purpose game mechanic wise I can see many entertainers not sticking with the profession, myself included.
I love the profession but i'm getting the feeling that it won't be worth the skillpoints to do. I loved the social aspect of the profession but it was nice having a service I could make a little bit of money doing.
I just hope we get some clarification of what our role will be. I'm getting the feeling i'd be better off going back to being a smuggler and pistoleer. That still provides me the roleplaying aspect I like but I would have viable skills.

Yeah, that's been like that since the ID revamp, no change.

You can change the icon by your HAM by clicking on it.(as everyone starts off knowning all the novice professions)
BF is ONLY gotten by cloning some where you don't have your data stored.
If you clone in this manner you gain 100bf and 100 Health Wounds.
You need to be incapped 3 times by the SAME NPC/MOB to have to clone.(very hard to do when you have lots of different MOBs running around or people killing them all) Or you need to get death blowed.
I tried very hard to max my BF and it honestly took me about 3 hours of trying to do it. In the end I just started dueling like 3-4 different people and going prone so they could just beat on me and DB me.
BF lowers healing. At 700bf someone was healing themselves for 400ish and me for 150ish. But with it taking no items it will only matter very rarely.
I doubt that Rezzing will cause BF.
You can't equip weapons your not certed for.
Cantinas heal 11 bf every I'm not sure how many minutes. So while someone is IN the cantina giving us healing xp the cantina is TAKING some of our healing xp.
My thoughts on BF and EH....
If your a newbie you'll get BF. Other wise you have to be extremely distracted or stupid.
On top of that with Grouping moving toward being the norm. And healers likely to be part of every party if not part of a lot of templates. It will be extremely rare that someone gets incapped 3 times or incapped and then DBed.
With healers being part of groups it's likely there will be Docs and they will simply Rez anyone that does need to clone. So it will be very very hard to get EH healing as we will still have AFK Jedi grinders, and with smaller groups the EH will be spread among fewer Entertainers. Plus the cantina heals BF while they are in it.
Looks very promising...
