Oh, and anyone who walks up to me and orders me around with things like, "buff!" or whatever, I always reply with "a please would be nice."

Usually I get a "plz" which is rather unsatisfying, but good enough. I find most people who command others around like talking that text-messaging speak. If they make some smart remark and don't say please, I tell them to go to someone else, I don't have time for rude people.

Yeah, I occasionally use the group method, usually when a group of combatants is about to go on a raid or to the corvette. It's not super frequent, but useful when I need it.

Anyways, if you wish to be snide about the whole thing, one method you can use is to accept the invite and stop flourishing (or, if you want to be really mean, flourish just barely enough to make it seem like you're playing music.. see below). Just sit there patiently playing (or maybe even strike up a conversation in group chat, if that's possible), and wait for the person to ask if the buff's done. At which point you say "oh, I didn't know you wanted a buff, you never asked me" and then start instructing the player on how to receive the buff, including the important message "please /stopwatch and /stoplisten now just in case you're stuck listening to another entertainer, and then when you're done, start listening to me."
Well, presumably this will trigger a weak buff, and possibly a long one. "Oops, guess you should've coordinated the buff with me rather than just get in a group and start listening."
Not what I use, but what I would use if I were feeling nasty.

I just don't buff people. I even dropped Tech and the healing lines to get some points for other skills. If people ask for a buff I just tell them I'm busy. If they insist, I ask for the tip first, then deliver my whopping 25% buff.

Usually, I don't group buff, I usually use a /setperf. However, sometimes a small line does form. And, if it ever gets to the point where I'm buffing one person and 2 people are waiting, then I leave the big group, and I buff all three, and then return to the big group. But, it doesn't happen that often.

Get a playback droid and group with your droid. Can't be invited then.

Ya I know, and I have one and its one I use a great deal as noone else has western atm. However,it can be a pain to pull him out, and I'm there and buffing(which the lilguy can sometimes affect) someone who asked in a ....I dunno......human sort of way so I can't stop to run outside, and even if I do there's only a 50/50 shot he wont go invisible on me due to the entering a cantina bug.

I will use him even more, but that still doesn't solve the problem of lack of manners.

I have actually seen a lot of entertainers who think you need to be grouped with someone to buff them. No one's ever just come up and invited me, of course, that's usually because there's a buffbot around

I agree, grouping with a playback or effects droid would stop it.

I have three instances where I need to use passive group mind enhancing:

  1. Buffing a large group of guildmates/friends who are about to PvP or Corvette/DWB/Genosian Lab etc.raid

  2. When there is more than one person who needs a buff and they're already grouped

  3. Buffing in a public venue and there are multiple customers on different timers

I make heavy use of /setperform when the above don't apply and am extremely likely to decline random invites, whether I'm performing or out hunting. I, too, have been known to turn on Automatically Reject Group Invites...to the point where I forget I enabled it until I'm trying to get invited into a group fora specific purpose. (Y'know what'd be cool...if the ability to disable the AFK trigger were turned off, and being AFK turned on the Auto Reject. Yeah, there's ways around it, but man would it go a ways towards killing buffbotting.)

Well, I haven't had the buffing problems you've had, really...the people on Gorath, or at least the ones I've buffed, seem to be more friendly about it. They ask for it first, the only people that DON'T ask are the guys who hang out at AH...of course, I allow this, because the first time he wanted one, he asked, and we agreed later on in the conversation that I was the AH Musician Buffer.

NOTICE that I did not say buffbot. I'm ATK the whole time, except for maybe a 2 minute bathroom break.

But yeah. Now that guy gets a big group together, THEN invites me, I buff them, make a nice chunk of money from it. Too bad a lot of it gets spent fast...damn expensive Geo pistols...

I use the grouping method because the macro I use has instructions and time remaining as part of it, all in /g. I refuse to pollute spatial with it, or send tells, since my customers are often talking to others when I am buffing. I stay out of the big group because I like to Jam, and I like Music to sound nice. if I begin to get healing xps (im not capped) I tell them to listen to the big band for that. Besides, without fail, every time I join a big band, I get asked to buff a hunting group. I hate taking up a slot from a working performer, and having to leave and return often.
