A few ideas that sprout to mind that would be kind of nice (And I do apologize if these are repeated. I didn't have the time to go through 9 pages of ideas):

Band-effects: Much like the /bandflo, is it possible to get something like a /bandfirejet or /bandspotlight.... so when performing in a band, you can do nifty things like coordinated effects?

Create Band: Although I know this can be done by creating a PA... it makes it difficult when youget a bunch of entertainers collected from assorted PA's who come together to perform. Perhaps some kind of /bandgroup command that allows, not only for musicians/dancers/entertainers to perform in groups of more than 8, but also allows them to create a Band name upon creation. So for example:

/bginvite Dummy Fearless - This would invite Dummy to the band group and name them Fearless

/bgchange Fearful - This would change the band name to Fearful

The rest of the commands can be pretty typical of groups. Of course I'm sure a stipulation would go with this as a non-combat group, so it can't be abused to exceed the 8-member normal-group.

Chorus Line: When performing in a band, which I do, singing of songs is one of the more vital things to cantina performers, especially player run cantinas. Is is possible to institute some sort of /chorus line to emulate the rest of the band singing? Doesn't have to 'force' the other members of the band to sing... but give off a band chorus line. So for example:

/chorus Do you want to play - "Fearless sings in the background, 'Do you want to play'"

Just a few ideas. Obviously open for critisism.

How about adding a bit of versatility to the Droid recording module, instead of just the one song how about the instrument instead ... that way when playing you can do a /changebandmusic and the Droid would change the song right along with the musician and not miss a beat.

The curent set up makes it difficult to play different songs with the Droid out having to re-record the new song in order to play it.

Another idea realted to my last.. Quests that require fighters and entertainers to work together... Not with battle entertainers, but a quest that has some elements that require battle, and some elemtns that require a skilled entertainer.

Or just have an old dusty nalargon in an underground cave that a musician has to play, and if they play a wrong note, a little more of the ground around the party will collapse.

For the last part of that there,STOP WATCHING THE GOONIES!

If you're a collector of high-tech toys like me then you probably remember the Jaminator(tm) from a decade back or so. It's a toy guitar that you "strum" by pressing fret button with your left hand while you rright presses string buttons. The experience was very similar to the way that music is played in SWG.

One of the features of the Jaminator is that if you hold a fret/string combo past the "flourish" time, the final note sustains itself for as long as you hold it. Better, there's a "bending bar" that lets you bend the note up and down by pushing the bar one way or another. (For the non-musically inclined, "bending" would be shifting the pitch up or down slightly to make the "wah-wah" sound that rock guitarists are so fond of.)

It occurs to me that sustain and bend could be implemented in a similar way in SWG.

The biggest problem would be synching with other clients. To achieve this, you couldn't have true freedom to do it when you wanted for as long as you wanted. This is the primary reason that music flourishes are all fixed length.

What could be done, I think, is to pre-program a new set of "flourishes" that would last maybe 1-second each. Mini-flourish #1 (MF1) would sustain the final note of the last flourish played. You could tap MF1 as many times as you wanted to sustain it for however long you liked. MF2 would be a bend up at a pre-set "angle" if you'll forgive the metaphor, and MF3 would bend the note down. Probably for consistency, MF2/3 would have to be a "bend up then back down to baseline" and "bend down then back up to baseline" kind of flourish. Any connected series of MF1/2/3 would continue to sustain the final note of the flourish.

I think this would be achievable with existing technology, though you'd have the expense of recording and programming the new flourishes. A fancy version of this might send the flourish and the "angle" of the bend to the surrounding clients giving the illusion that the musician has some freedom to "rock out" on the sustain pedal.
