Thread: Brainstorming thread: post your cool gameplay ideas for the devs to consider here
- Overall Quality on an instrument can modify healing&buff when a musician uses it
- Amaster musician can have 10 music points that can be spent on new songs.The musician canget these songs while a quest but (s)he won't be able to get all songs (10 points - 5 pts for 'X' songs,5pts for 'Y' song, 3 pts for another songs for instance). Once you want to surrend one of these songs you have to complete the quest again
- Decay on instruments (can improve instrument business)
- Light effects & droid effects can modify healing and buff
- Quests where musicians will be useful
What do you think about that?
1. Being able to compose your own music. (Blazer Had An EXCELENT plan for this.)
2. Being in mini-guilds that are band. Recieving bonuses (xp and cr)
3. Gaining Fame or Popularity points in both individual and band.
4. Recordings of songs and dances to give mini mind buffs (not as potent.)
5. A place to find out whos playing where, and what else is going down.
6. Making the Musician more involved
all these ideas are good on there own but why not comine a couple?
Ive heard the generic response to composing your own music:
It will be bad, There will be lawsutes.
Well as for the music being bad, why not have a rating on the composers of the music so people can steer clear of someone who only plays a c# indefinately.
Copyright laws? Im not really sure on this one, Im sure you could sign an agrement that says you will not purposefully try to recreate some artists in real life song, why cant they moniter this like they moniter the names of the characters? Also If someone notices something sounds to much exactly the same as a real song they could report it to have it looked at. Also someone may say they own the rights to a certain song that was written in game because they wrote it, but i think this maybe could be resolved when accepting the liscence agreement.
Having my own band would be flat out awesome, What more needs to be said on this?
Contests and rankings would be great fun to encourage master musicians to stick with it and to see how popular they can become. This to me would be a great reason to stay as a musician to try to promote my custom tunes and things.
recording mini buffs seems to me a great way for an musicain to make some credits that is productive and worthwhile compared to the buff bot afk junk.
A "giant bulliten board aproach" to giving out news to entertainer of events.
And finally to make the musicain or entertainer in general more integrated we would know something we could give to bounty hunters or something like that.
Ive noticed many people talk about these also,
Being able to drop things on the stage of the theater.
Having a living quarters in theaters and cantinas.
Maybe a new player building as a casino or something similiar.
Being able to walk slowly while playing. (Marching basicaly.)
Being able to mod instruments so they are personalized.
thanx for reading

Its seems to me that Musicians and Dancers Should be able to receive your own buff ... cause when you think about it alot of people play music for relaxation or dance for Relaxation and isn't that whats being protrayed with the mind buffs that if you listen to a musician it allows you to clear your mind and be at ease?
Infuison of Starsider
well here's my idea in two parts:
part 1 -
i always though it didn't make sense that any dancer or musician could walk into any cantina and just set up and start playing (and i hate when they do it in the vestibule).
now, what if each NPC cantina had a cap on how many musicians and dancers could perform there at any time?
say 10 of each. it would be like the cantina had a "house band". except to prevent "cantina camping" you would get booted after a certain amount of time (maybe 4 hours? 8 hours? 10 hours? i dunno).
and to reward masters, you would get access to perform at the more popular cantinas the further up the elite entertainer skill you are. for instance a novice could only perform at the local Player city cantinas, while a master could have their pick from cities like Coronet, Theed, Bestine, ect...
part 2 -
patrons (everyone who isn't performing at the cantina at that time) would have to pay a cover charge to enter the NPC cantinas (player cantinas could set their own cover charges). the amount would vary depending on what city it was. smaller cities (with lower skilled performers) would cost less, while the major cities would cost the most. the performers would be paid whenever they're done performing and leave the cantina. they would be paid a cut of the door during the time they were performing. this cover charge could also be a credit sink for the economy either by a percent of the door going back to the NPC world, or have the performers pay a certain amount to perform (amount would vary on the city).
not only would this system help to prevent buffbots from setting up whereever they want, but it would also give people more reasons to travel to various NPC cities, and Player cities.
it would also add to the immersion as it would be more realistic in that the group of entertainers, in any cantina at any given time, would be a limited number and could form a more cohesive performance.
and also, like i said, it could become a credit sink to balance the economy.
i'd like to know what entertainers think of this idea.
- Inspirationbuff (novice entertainer): extra xp gain;
- Factionbuff: extra factionpoints gain (now included with inspirationbuff), rebel/imperial musicians can buff only rebels/imperials. Maybe an imperial who listens to a rebelbuff gets a factionpointgaindecrease;
- Creativitybuff: extra craftingsuccesses (now included with inspirationbuff);
- Hypnosisbuff: every listener tips money without them knowing
; - Concentrationbuff: better control over mounts/vehicles/spaceships;
- Hatebuff: increase in damageoutput and decrease in defensive skills;
- Forcebuff: Musicians who have forcesensitive skills (in particular the healingtree of heightened senses) can give jedi some bonus;
- No buff: prevents others from passively gaining buffbenefits.
-performing buffsrequires moreeffort than just playing music, so it would cost more action/mind (maybe action for flourishing: physical and mind for buffing: nonphysical).
Please expand on this!

My idea: make it possible to choose from avariety of bufftypes, for example:

Hypnosis buff- best. buff. ever.![]()
Heres some more buff ideas
- Jedi buff: reduction in exp loss if they die
- Space exp buff: same as exp buff but works in space
- Smuggler buff: lets smugglers slice better
- Entertainer buff: some type of buff that only ents give to other ents to help them somehow
- add real Star Wars music even if it is non-flourishable. My biggest hurt in SWG was realizing StarWars3 was the Imperial March. If I played SW3 before the Emperor I would have been killed on the spot.
- Make Duel of the Fates a co-op Musician/Dancer song. Let the musicians play the music. Let the dancers do the singing and when there is not singing they can dance. If this is implemented PLEASE DO NOT make it like StarWars1-4. They sound terrible. Make it exactly like the jukebox version.
- don't kill ents off. this may be my best cool gameplay idea.
- AFK needs to go for buffing. If the devs looked at their own thread they would have some good ways to do this.
- more content
- a real buff to make a living
- Make BF have much worse effects like a "fatigue Hidrance" that makes you walk/run much slower, or lower your speed/accuracy since you are tired of fighting. (im a fighter and BF doesnt bother me at all at the moment)
- Make battle instruments that play special battle songs and that allow you to walk and play at the same time.
- make battle songs that gives special bonuses to fighters, Examples : "retreating song" that gives group burst run efficiency, "marching song" that gives running/walking bonnuses. "drumroll" that give bonuses to accuracy. and such other songs that improve HAM or speed or damage output.
- make musician/dancer specific armor and clothing with special bonnuses.
- make crafting/healing buffs of some sort so that crafters and healers can do their job better if they listened/watched toa musician/dancer prior to doing their job.
- make cantinas a desirable place to be, place special news terminal or informant NPCs tell you about current afairs in the galaxy such as when a faction base is being raided or something of the sort.
- make player run theaters with "transparent" walls so that props can be placed and musicians can place instruments there.
im sure there are many more ideas like these tha cant be hard to accomplish or that are not wanted by the people.
So dancers are getting props and were getting....what we already have. Musicians could have props but not on them so....
Droid Props
-
Bartender Module: Musicians could place an entertainment module on a droid to serve drinks (like R2 in ROTJ) They would be just like a vendor except you can make them patrol around a cantina. Only drinks can be put on a droid to prevent people from putting on junk and having them march around Coronet. -
Self-Flourish Module: Equipt a droid with one of these and you don't have to be playing for your droid to flourish. With four friends with four droids on four parts, you could have your very own droid marching band! -
Ambient Music Module: Lets anyone grouped with the droid be the ambients music for the area. Can be used with the Self-Flourish Module -
Droids Sound Commands: R2-D2 had a little sound effect for every situation and musician earned slash commands could let you do the same. (not exactly a prop but still cool) -
Factional Spy Module: Notice enemies gathering? afraid of a raid on your guild's bases? A SpyDroid can be sent to monitor the spatial, group, and/or, guild chat to find out what they're up to. Has a chance of success depending on the musician's skill. -
Factional Anti-Spy Module: Has a chance of countering enemy Spy Droids depending on skill. (Again not props but it would get entertainers in the GCW
ok so some of this falls on Droid Engineer territory but what I was thinking was a Droid Engineer could make it but a musician is needed to use the Droid.
