If any of you haven't seen the X-Video yet, I think it pretty well says it all.

This is great news to me. Used to love playing my MM/MID, but stopped when the cantinas were nothing but hologrinders and bots. Things are looking up.

I hate to resurrect an old thread but I was looking at the knowledge base and it specifically states that AFK macroes written with the game macroing system are not considered part of the EULA restriction. It is only referring to 3rd party programs.
Until they actually remove them there is nothing anyone can do.

It may have changed, but last I checked the KB just said AFK macroing was "ok", it didn't say it superceded the EULA (its been a while since I looked so I could be wrong). If thats the case I'd say the EULA would supercede the KB since its an actual official contract document.

It looks to have been updated based on the very question raised. If its there as a clarification then it clouds the EULA regardless. So it isn't going away until they remove the ingame ability completely.

I still report buffbots in public cantinas. That is still blatant harrassment of live performers. Either they get tired of me reporting them and do something about it, or they ignore me with cut and paste CSR relpies. Hmm... cut and paste CSR replies... wait a minute!!!

eh, if you really want to do something actually call their exploit in progress number... I remember reading a post from a dev once that stated the things that got fixed fastest were the things the most people actually called in about, if for no other reason than its more expensive to run the phone center than the online CS department.

I think if they considered it an exploit there would've been a lot of banned people posting here by now. Obviously they don't. /shrug

Eh, whether they consider it one or not their TOU and EULA are vague enough that you have every right to call them and bother them over the phone about it... No, they most likely won't actually do anything about it, but they get enough calls about it and it moves up in the priority list

If enough people keep reporting it as an exploit, they have to address the fact that it IS a problem and do something about it.

Today its down with the buffbotnext it will be down with brandy and c naps. where will the madness end? when all players are forced to visit an entertainer every 3 hours. how sad...

Afk needs to go?
Afk looting Killing and spaming I will agree directly affect others. but Afk tumblers buffbots do not, What does affect you is that person X decided to use the buff bot or tumbler and not you. I dont think afk is the root of all evil here, Its more likely that they are trying to shove to wide of a play base in to one game, Instead of seperating it like they did with EQ in to dedicated servers to bring people with like views together.

It has nothing to do with views of players (and afk bots do not constitute players anyway), it has to do with the health of the game. Here's an example for you.
New player bob comes into the game. As he loads in to Mos Eisley for the first time the very first thing he sees is a player spamming "Join such and such guild and city and we'll give you a free bike and house." He decides he might be interested and tries talking to the person... only they don't respond since they might as well be an NPC.
He then goes to the cantina since the cantina is the first place most people think to go. They get there and try to talk to some of the entertainers, only to find that they are most all AFK as well. All of a sudden this big world is very lonely.
He decides that maybe its just the time of day or place, so he goes and tests out his combat skills by killing some stuff. After a while he gets some wounds and heads to the med center (makes sense) and sees that luckily there's some people in there. He gets inside only to realize that the people consist of afk tumblers and people grinding doc.
I don't know about you, but if this kind of thing was going on when I joined I seriously doubt I would have stayed long. Knowing that not only do people not think the game is worth playing (otherwise they might actually be playing it) but that advancing in the game is a joke and won't provide any challenge (challenge being part of the entertainment in a game). This is why using macros for unattended game play is against the EULA, this is why no other game has provided suchan advanced macro system, and this is why it needs to stop. I don't mean that macros need to go away, I think the macro system of this game is increadible, it just needs to have some limits placed on it.
