I buff to max in about six minutes flourishing normally. Others have reported buffing in as little as three minutes or less by stringing /flourishes together without any pauses in between, but I'm not sure this behavior is intended by the devs, so I don't do it.

Intended behavior or not, the functionality to do the buff in 3.25 mins is there. I would of course stop using this method immediatly if the devs deemed it exploiting.

all I can say is the faster your flourish then the faster the buff will be. This has been tested. You just need someone to heal your action every 15 seconds or so.

I agree there may be some other factors affecting buff time. I have never (to my knowledge) buffed anyone less than full or less than 2 hours. I first started with 5 minutes (back when the forums said 8 were necessary). I assumed the difference was due to the fact that I hate the repetitiveness of most of the base riffs and double flo every 10 secs to keep them from coming up except rarely.

Yet over time I found full buffs were possible at four minutes and eventually something around three minutes as well. I never stopwatched it or anything, so there might be some flex time in there. I did try a flourish spam on someone who had only 2 mins before a shuttle once and he said it worked great.

I'm a twi'lek if that means anything, with no enhancements apart from the base for Master Musician/Master Entertainer.

Didn't our corespondent say that effects had no bearing on buffs?

Yes, the devs told me flat-out that effects have no effect on the buff. Now, they told me that a couple of months ago, so it's conceivable something has changed. But they were pretty definitive about it. It came up when I showed them a draft of my buff FAQ for comment.
