Thread: Which droid modules?

OK, even Correspondents get to ask for advice once in a while. Which droid modules do you all recommend getting? My first droid got 5 effects and one sound track, but now I wish I had more sound tracks. So I'm going to order a second droid. Which effects are expendable? And what do more sound tracks get you -- just more songs, right?

I have to say my little guy (Sonny) is quite fun. It's kinda nice to have your own backup musician. It means I can play Virtuoso the way I like to play it -- piano bass drums, or sax bass drums. The music droid isa pretty nice addition to our bag of tricks.

I got one with 5 sound tracks, and it can fight (I thought that'd be funny, but should have gone with storage), and another that just has the effects. I like your effects droid, though, at least you can have it play music while it makes a lightshow. I'd say hold on to your effects droid and get another one that just has music tracks. I like that one, so I can change songs with it.

I did a factory run of sythesizers this morning, then came back and gave them to an engineer as a trade for a droid, which was a pretty good deal.

Right now I have a total of 4 droids, believe it or not.

An R3 with all 6 effects, an R3 with 6 Playback Modules, and 2 ADV MSE's with Fog and Foam (to be used for concerts).

And Ricky, if you still play on Chilastra, Sir Psylion and the Lords of Funk just made their debut. You should come check us out sometime. We usually play in Coronet Cantina, until someone with money recognizes us and hires us for entertainment.

I got it all. One droid with 6 effects. The other with 6 tracks I'm having WAY too much fun with my little buddies. Amazed at the versatility of the playback droids. /band, /changeband, /start, /stop...all functional

Ok, I just tackled the first Droid Engineer who wasn't AFK spamming around the starport, and made some playback modules for him. He wasn't a master yet, was still working his way up, so I got an R3 with three modules total: 1 playback (why not, you can erase it and re-record anytime) and while I wanted foam, I was dumb and told him the wrong thing and got electric fog and avians. I must say...the avians are soooooooo cute! And I'm glad I got the electric fog now, not the foam. All my friends who saw the foam said it looked like the washing machine overflowed, but the electric fog is like the best elements of Dazzle and Smokebomb together. Alternating that with the avians on a 16 second timer is actually really pretty.

Problem is, I can't get the playback to work. I recorded Waltz on the bandfill, since the bandfill is really the only instrument that doesn't drive me stark raving nuts on the base loop (and I don't want to drain my droid down to no action doing band flourishes). It only plays for a few moments and then quits. /sigh

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Oh, and I'll be getting a new droid sooner or later. I need the storage space! My outfit with all my music tapes in it takes up 7 slots all by itself, and then there's my leotard and the bone crest with dance fatigue tape in that. I'm such a packrat. So I think in the end I'll go with something that can hold 1 playback, 2 storage and however many effects I can get after that. Definitely the avians, probably the electric fog, not sure what else. I don't think I want the dancing jawas, though. /rolleyes

Oh, I LOVE the dancing Jawas! I can see the upcoming Petitions against foam , tho :-)

I got me a 1 track/5 effects R3 and played around with that, but couldn't get the /flos to record? Then I wanted the last effect, too, so I got another 1 track/5 effects R3. Never tested it tho, as the crafter also crit failed on the assembly of the AV-21 it took me 99 static Corvette loots to get the Power Plant for. I got a little bummed out and logged...

Having the same problem with my droid, won't record flourishes. When playing back it plays the auto-notes only.

For troubleshooting purposes, what I tried to do was record a bandfill routine (with flourishes) on a 1 track/5 effects R3 droid. The song was Starwars1 (yes, many people hate it, but it's the best for the mandoviol! :-) ), by the way...

All the droid will play back is the base track...thats all your teaching ...kinda.

You can set up a separate macro for your droid though as the droids will accept bandflourishes. Thats how you have to write your scripts. The droid runs on bandflos.

also, make sure when you make your /bandflo macros that you include in the bandflo line the instrument type that you recorded to the droid..that way it wont interfere with your own playing, and or hopefully noone in your group.

so lets say you recorded ballad with the Bandfill.

When you do the play back all you get is the base bandfill riff in the song Ballad.

You can make the bot do a flourish by typing in /bandflo <1-8> <Bandfill> <---------be sure to add the instrument. Also this is the only way currently that if you switch to dancing you can make the droid do any flourish at all...you have to add the instrument type.

The droid WILL accept just plain /bandflo <1-8> While your playing an instrument...he will however do nothing if you use /bandflo <1-8> and leave out the instrument type while dancing.

Hope this helps you

He he, no trouble shooting needed I guess :-)

Thanks for the bandflo tip, Cera! I didn't know you could put the instrument in there.

i didnt know you could put the instrument in there either..i found out by accident..i had finally figured out that the robot would take bandflourish commands. And i was messing with stuff and typing it in manually..when one time i forgot to type in a number so i just did /bandflo and hit enter by mistake and the system message on the screen showed all ways to do bandflo....thats the only reason i know.

Even still though i hope it helps. Now i am working on making separate script routines for just the droid. I still prefer playing my regular instrument by hitting the F keys by hand, so i can make the song creative everytime.
