I have some questions on motive. I'm not questioning their opinion on the matter, nor anyone else's. I'm questioning how representative of the attitudes of ingame players they are. This is important. I made comments in that thread if anyone cares

That's a flaw with the whole 'spokesperson' thing in general.. I don't think its specific to any one issue or person. They supposedly picked people who could do both.

That being said, afk macros will go away, 'tis just a matter of when =) they're nearly gone for artisans, I can only hope entertainers will be next.

As I said in a related thread on this same issue, I of course will duly report what Musicians regard as the top five issues for the profession. My job is to report your views, not to lobby for my own.

For what it's worth, on my mega-thread on "Top Issues for Musicians," in which I received dozens of responses, relatively few people listed AFK-macroing in their top five. Moreover, I get /tells in-game from musicians "lobbying" me on various issues, and this one rarely comes up. Over and over again, I hear that people want more distinct music sounds, more songs, more flourishes, better gigs and content, group tips, and more high-end content; I also hear divergent views about the mandoviol and about integrating newbs into bands.

In any case, I'd welcome more comments on this issue. Is it a "top five" issue for the devs? If so, how should it be addressed?

And I am going to Strongly fight it, cuz I think there is nothing wrong with AFK macroing, people doesn't like player doing are just mind too much other people's business, IMO

Initially I would have been worried about them fixing this by nerfing /ui action.. But they have already fixed AFK sampling without having to resort to that.. So somewhere on the inside, someone is adamantly against losing the /ui action functionality. Therefore, I support this change.

I am against removing the ability to "macro" in the game, even though I have yet to make a macro of my own. I figured once I mastered my professions there would be plenty of time to play with the macros, but no.....I had to go and start running missions to become rich...LOL.

Anyhow, I do not know how they can get rid of AFK macroing, and leave the current macro system as is. I for one, hope to some day be able to compose a few "concert" macros.

If they are going to remove macroing altogether, i am very againt that. otherwise I have no feelings one way or another.

I certainly don't want a macro nerf, or even a afk macro nerf. I like to think I use the system as intended, and I'm almost never afk (just for bio-breaks really, if it's longer than that, i'm logging out).

My band uses macros, and i hope we'll be able to write one longer than 10 lines when the time comes. I don't know, maybe we'll never need that functionality. /shrug.

I hope afk'ers will soon diminish, and I believe they will when the audience starts hearing what a live, organized band can do, and demands more from the city cantina. I don't know about you, but 2 hours of StarWars2 makes me want to go order a pizza and load up Mario Brothers. . ..

I definitely agree it'll go away I suspect in the next few weeks we'll see something like this in a patch message:

• Removed the /ui action toolbarSlot command. It was not being used as intended.


• Reduced the total number of lines a Macro can have to 10. We don't feel anyone needs any more than that to have a rewarding gameplay experience.

I love being here at this time. It lets me have something I know I'll be remembering back to in a year

All I can say is that if they get rid of the /ui action toolbarSlotXX, /ui action toolbarPaneXX, and /alias <somecommand>, I will be thouroughly annoyed. I use these for quick cloths change toggles (for instance I have one slot I press that toggles between regular cloths/armor... another I use to change between my pistol pane and my rifle panes all the while, equiping the appropriate ranged weapon).Ok, it's mostly for my "battle ready" alt. But I willeventually get around to making similar macros for my master entertainer/musician.

All the nerfwould dois hurt the onesthat don't use AFK macros.The AFK'ers will just find another method (3rd party) to go AFK for experience. I bet most AFK'ers use 3rd party anyways and it's really just pointless to hinder regular folks.

If you really think AFK sampling is gone, send me a tell in game and I will prove otherwise. People figured out how to fix that problem the same day they "fixed" it. And for the record, I do afk sample because I see absolutely no reason to sit alone in the wilderness for hours doing nothing but hitting sit and sample everynow and then. I also think afk macro'ing of music/dance has benefits to others, especially early morning combat classes. Will afk macro'ing help me, no. Why, because I'm an MM already. Do I expect to get tipped, no. I do it more as a service for others. And one more thing, knowing how they "fixed" sampling, if they "fix" the entertainers in the same fashion, give me a tell and I'll show you how to work around it too.

I'm glad I gave up entertaining when I did ~ I see nothing wrong with afk macroing, only people who do it poorly. If a person is afk in a group and cause a problem being afk, boot them. That said, if I want to go off by myself and run a macro to help automate some of the fantastically tedious buttom pushing why is that anyone else's concern?

It's one thing to choose to be around and interact with others in prime time. It's another to be an insomniac like me who ends up wanting to run the game and chat with friends while letting my character get some expierence when most others have gone off to bed. There are times where I'm looking to socialize. And there are times where I am straight up looking to get experience. Why the hell should somoene else care if I go off in a corner by myself, start a macro and go to bed?

I think the afk macroing thing is a stupid issue, and I'm glad I won't have to worry about it being changed myself anymore.

The biggest strangeness in not going up the entertainer line anymore, by the way, is remembering to tip all you wonderful people.

I will Never understand why people hate people who AFK macroing so much, to me, they are trying to eliminate every possible ways for other gamers to gain freedom of style, and it's not fair!

Without offending anyone here, I hope you go about your own business, and not to care when you see a player sampling or playing with a AFK on their head, certainly not to have stupid negative opinions about any AFK person you see (Perhaps this person is like you in everyway, except being pro-AFK. Oh you just ruined a friendship!)...

It's what I do, when I see people AFK macroing in-game, and I don't harass them, nor do I care; it's their business, why should I care? Some of you care about trifles like this too much And greatly pre-judgemental, might I add, If you have any disrespectful opinions about AFKers in general!

Give AFK Macroers a break! Playing Horns, and Sampling is not always fun (On a wee hour you only see empty cantina, you think that's fun? Eh... No!), and when people like myself has a life try to attend, AFK macroing can be VERY useful! I am not trying to be rude for AFKing on you, believe me, I wouldn't AFK if I could, but, socializing is an option, I do not have to be forced to! There are so many times I can count when I see people besides be I don't really want to get to know...

Nerfing AFK Macroing is NOT going to solve anything! Nada! You are only alienate people (good people) away from this game! Before, some people had the TIME and oppertunity to raise their skills while attending RL events, After AFK macroing gets nerfed, they don't anymore, and may take them months and years to grind it all out!

Some people are already Master Musicians, and I am not!

More power to you, if you rather sit at the computer, and have all that time, to press a key a million times to become a Master Musician/Dancer, whatever or Sampling your way thru Survey IV (without the need of AFKing), but leave us (AFK Macroers) alone! Not to AFK macroing is your choice, but DON'T say our choice is wrong!

There are OTHER MORE important issues for you (Both Players and Devs) to worry about (like improving server downtimes, adding new options/stuff to the game) not this AFK macroing one! People anti-AFK macroing do not know what's more important...argh!
