Springbok -
Not true. You DO get Music XP for crafting instruments.
Roho, Master Musician.

If the things would actually decay, and if instrument quality actually had some gameplay consequence, then you could conceivably make a good living crafting instruments too.

I'd like to see them with sockets etc and attachments which can be added like +BF healing and +mindhealing etc.

Not sure how that would work. Seeing as Musicians are both the provider and sole user of the instruments, who would buy a new instrument rather than simply crafting a new one? I suppose if one Musician had higher quality resources to use and could put out an instrument no one else could, but I would think that would be a rare situation, rather than the norm.

Hehe.
Last night, my guild leader begged me to duel her (she desperately wants to win a fight, and keeps asking to fight me), and she had a few friends with her, so I agreed and put on my dueling outfit, which consists of a warm hat, purple hawtpants, boots, and my weapon of choice, the mandoviol (having beat her down on previous occasions with the mandoviol, she exclaimed NOOOO! when she saw it come out).
I proceeded to quickly win the duel (though someone was healing her, so it took a little longer than normal), and people laughed at my winning in that outfit.
She healed up, and begged me to fight again. This one went even quicker, with my swinging my mandoviol without mercy.
I left the area for a bit, but was told by someone who stayed back that someone was harrassing her, so I came back to defend. I came to see someone taunting her, and challenging her to a duel. They fought, and the guy one-hit-incapped her with a flamethrower, and then DB'd her, so I definitely stepped up and told him to duel me so I could defend my guild leader's honor.
At first he was refusing, and even told me that he wouldn't because I had a high pvp rating (I'm not a pvp'er at all, so I found that interesting), so to further entice him to accept my duel, I put on my dueling outfit again. He finally accepted, and though he tried to run as he accepted to kite me, I got him too quickly, and knocked him down. (He then did and /endduel, showing his cowardice, but that's neither here nor there).
The point of this loong story, is that the people who were watching this started commenting that my mandoviol must have had uber damage modifiers lol.
I even joked about my 'hacked mandoviol' to my guild leader who asked "is it really special?".
So you can imagine what fun would arise from putting attachments in instruments!

I say that artisans should make the instruments. Give them not only option to colour them or change thair shape, but also let resource stats and experimentation mater.
I can imagine 3 different lines of experimentation.
Usability: reduce the HAM cost when used.
Efficiency: a % incere (or decrese of low experiementation) on the healing abilities when used. Say a 80% to 120% range.
Quality: How much durability the instrument would have and thus how long it would last.
Of cause, these would never be good money makers for artisans, due to our low earning positional. If they used some components made by musicians (and entertainers) then we would not be totally left out of the loop.

And Artisans can make ranger camps if they want there camps to mean something...
I would have to disagree quite strongly. Perhaps for better instruments the artisan profession could be related but the maker would still have to be a musician. Not just the 'module' maker if you will.
Yes your right, making instruments would not be worth an artisan's time, but they are certainly worth a musician's. So why then hurt Musicians more and in turn give something to a class they don't even really need / want?
On the other hand, my new music shop is actually doing quite well. Plans to have a tailor and BE work with me in stocking wound healing clothes and healing drinks or food. Additionally inviting a DE to stock some vendors with all sorts of playback and effect droids. The one-stop shop for anything a musician could use....with plans to one day cover dancers as well.

Why give instrument crafting to artisans? Because entertainers are not a crafting play style. If experimentation and recourses mattered for instrument crafting then we would get "crafting type" players who did not like the entertainer side of the profession.
All the afk grinders, and buffbots are players who do not care about the socialising play style of entertainers, giving the profession that would draw in more that don’t care about the core of what we are about would be bad.
So if we wand instruments to be different quality wise, we need them to be made by crafters.
Oh and that shop of yours... make sure it stock accarran or what ever that drink is called

Good points. Give it to artisans. But I would still have to insist that artisan would have to be that level music tech to make said instrument. Therefore the artisan would have to be a master musician to make the nalargon...with the experimental qualities, add-ons like bonus to wound healing, etc.
Unfortunetely I have not really gotten to know any DE's or BE's, or chefs...or Tailors for that matter on my server. Most entertainers can usually boast good relationships with some tailor's, but not as a wookiee.../sigh lol. But aye all chef stuff music aimed, including action school modifiers.

Hmmm perhaps it could be done with power-up's. Like the ones for weapons.
Add a power up on you Mandolin and for the next X flourished you heal a certain % more BF, buff faster, or just use less ham while performing. I think that would do the trick.
But I still wand to be able to colour my Mando at some point.

Oooo coloring, never really thought about that. Excellent suggestion. First change for me would be my Nal, then the traz would just have to go yellow/golden
