Thread: Hypothetical question

Preamble:
I'm an ex master musician and a friend of mine just ditched it too. I masterd back when buffs didn't work and the whole class had no game benefit at all, I just wanted to play a nalgaron and buff my pals but without the latter part the class wasn't worth the skill points.

Question:
Im wondering how many people would have a problem with a game mechanism where musicians would continue being able to play instruments after they droped a skill and/or perhapse songs too?

I'm not proposing it particularly, the idea needs work at the very least I'm just interested to see people's reaction.

I'm only talking about instruments and maybe flourishes, using an uncertified instrument would just make noise not heal or buff at all.

Why:
I was thinking that its sad when I see a master musician playing forlornly in some outpost and I remember back when we got some great sounding bands but I never see that now except at rare player events.

Not just no, but hell no. And I was a Musician back before the existence of the buff, too. I was a Master Entertainer/Composer, because I hate the Narlagon and there was zero reason to go up anything other than Music Knowledge if you didn't care about making instruments, lighting effects or the Narlagon. In the pursuit of Bio-Engineering and other things, I eventually gave up all my Entertainer skills. It was hard, but that was the price I had to pay for wanting to do other things.

You give up the skill, you lose the perks. It should be that way for any skill.

The fact that Merchants can keep their vendors and continue to use them after they give up the Merchant skill, or anyone who places a skill-restricted building and then drops the skill can still keep ownership of the building...those are oversights, I think. And I hope that someday they're rectified, such that if you're no longer a Merchant with the Hiring skill to create a vendor of a particular type, you shouldn't be able to use the Sell Item button or pay maintenance on it. You could still maintain it until all its stock was bought or dropped into the Stockroom, but after a maximum of a month you'd have to retreive out of the stockroom anything leftover, pull out all its maintenance and destroy it, because otherwise it would be useless. And if you place a Cantina or Med Center, then drop the skill that allowed you to do so, I think all you should be able to do is /transferstructure to someone who qualifies to own it, or re-deed it.

Your suggestion has a good thought behind it, but it would only serve to de-value the profession further, I think.

So once Publish 10 rolls around, can all of the post-10 Jedi start telling all of the Hologrinder Jedi to **edit** whenever the subject of who worked harder tobe ubercomes up? Hologrinding looks like mastering a Novice Profession compared to the current incarnation on TC right now.

Guess that'll put to rest the argument of "We worked harder so we deserve to be godlike."

Let say Bob finished a profession today. Let's say dancer because we all know Bob's like to dance. Let's say that profession unlocked his force sensitive slot. Now when Pub 10 hits live, with the way it is now, will Bob become a Jedi ? Or will the new toon Bob creates on his account become the Jedi.

As stated in numerous threads, guides and even on the Jedi Archives - as it stands now, it will be the main character, the Dancer, that will become FS and not your secondary.

OK, here's a hypothetical question. If you had to choose between these two scenarios, which would you pick?

Scenario A - Jedi become signifigantly more powerful than normal professions (as in, could take several normal professions down easily), but there isXP loss on every death, skill loss when you get to negative XP,and maybea permadeath along the way (if you die too many times.)

Scenario B - Jedi are almost equal with normal professions in terms of strength, but there's no such thing as skill loss, and XP loss only on death by BH.

Just wondering which one people would take if given the chance.

Choice A..But Permadeath should only take you down to Initiate or padawan
