Thread: Dealing with AFK Buff bots: The indiscriminate Carpathia way

I dunno Bri, She, at leat to me, and most of the other musicians, is technically griefing the musicians who aren't afk and want to make a living. And i'd prefer the term "other method" of dealing with problems.
I would suggest countering her inane spam and AFK buffbotting with something clever, like "Save 1k on a buff and listen to someone NOT AFK! Come on over and /listen to me!" rather than working and plotting her demise for AFK'ing.
Stand in front of her and work out her spam timings. Counter them by standing in front of her with your anti-AFK messages, like I suggested above - and provide a better deal/experience than she would. Craft something simple (or have an artisan friend craft up something) like chance cubes or 6 sided-dice that say "Free buff from Master Musician YourName" and give em to people who come to you - not the buffbot. They'll remember you and come back for more later - beyond the free buff.
Try undercutting the buffbot price.
Tell people there's no set price on your buff. Be really chatty and get em to laugh. Something to provide a good alternative to the AFK bot. I use this method and usually end up with big tips - because people enjoy the fact that as a Master Musician, I'm mocking the AFK'ers. And, they're more than happy to join inon that ![]()
Eh, better than all the trouble of TEF'ing someone, and maybe getting in some kind of trouble (though I fully understand your motives, they're exceptionally annoying).

I have seen this individual.... I to do not like her at all... I'm rather harsh when it comes to stuff like this though.......... if it were up to me I'd ban her from the game as well as tons of other players.......... but it's not up to me so........ /shrug
Interesting idea. I might do both (i'm going to hang onto master musician for a bit longer than i origionally planed). I'll see what happens, esp. since she will be buffing in the cloning center, her combat log will be filled with other random nonsense, hopefully enough to get rid of any of my work. Always a way to do things.
I might add she is a master dancer/musician, and i'm only musician... guess which most people would rather have.
If I can't find a group leader that's non-AFK (more and more common these days) I make sure to invite the AFK buff-bot each cycle. It's a temporary solution ... but a satisfying one.

I do the same thing quite often. There's this one person who goes afk quite often and has a macro that says something to the effect of "Watch me and let your troubles slip away" or something like that.
So, the other night, every time she said that, I would say something like, "Watch me and I'll spare your life." Or, "Watch me and get a free AV-21" or "Watch me or I'll curse you and seven generations of your offspring."
Then, there's another one who just /smiles every 10 seconds. Every time she /smiles, I do some sort of emote, such as /emote picks his nose or /emote looks at you threateningly or /emote licks the floor.
Some people give me strange looks, others laugh. Either way it gives me great pleasure to make fun of the afk macro'ers.
I dont tip afk entertainers, never have, never will, but I DO TIP people at the keyboard, quite nicely might I add, hell I tipped a mus 50k this morning fo a buff, whym cause she was there, and kept me company for that friggen asanine 10 mins, we continued to talk for 2 more hours lol, was a blast, the point is, people would rather have an ATK entertainer

Just how are you supposed to undercut a buffbot's price when they don't actually charge anything at all? People don't have to tip a buffbot, and honestly, I get some people telling me they shouldn't have to tip me anything because they "always get free buffs."
How come, if a doctor buffs a overt faction member, they get a TEF? How come these buffbots don't? It's almost like the devs want these buffbots. I wish entertainers would get a TEF for buffing somebody overt.
Remember the thread that got deleted from this forum? Get yourself a combat medic and a squad leader, and have the squad leader shift the wounds to the whole party, who just happens to be an afk'er. How is this griefing? The afk'er willingly joined the party, afterall.
I would have no problems with these losers if they would just keep it to their own private cantinas, and actually charged an entrance fee. They stand in public giving away a service I also provide, totally ruining the market. I consider THAT griefing.
