I'd like an electric guitar. And this time, don't put it on Master Entertainer.
(I already have to surrender my Mandoviol so I can stage dive.)

Cello for another stringed instrument. Although I would love to see a Piano.

Hmm, first, the slitherhorn sounding instruments typically sound like woodwinds, and so splitting them up into flute, clarinet, and maybe bassoon(for a lower register) would be nice. The Chidinkalu horn and its sound-a-likes could be split up into brass instrument sounds like trumptet, trombone, and (even though it isn't a brass instrument, the Chid sounds like it in some songs already) saxophone. The nalar is piano-like, so that is covered. The mando covers the string instruments, though a different instrument with a cello-like sound could be added. With the bandfill and ommni, I would suggest no change, maybe get rid of one and change the progession of learned instruments?

Since the forum's been semi-slow lately, I figured I'd try and gather opinions on what instrument sounds people think would be cool in the game.
For my opinion (or at least one of them), while it's not necessarily very starwarsy, I think a piano sound would be pretty cool (more than just virtuoso on the nalargon). Could have some very elaborate flushes with that.

Some great suggestions in this thread... only a couple of other ideas to add.
Filling out the horn section sounds with a trombone and/or french horn type of sounds could really fatten out the horns, and;
Kettle drums. Big, ominous kettle drums. Now, that's Star Warsy... think of the Imperial March, and you'll know what I mean.

I do concurr a new stringed instrumend (hopefully playable by musicians who are not master-entertaiers) would be the addition we need. And probably a reconsideration of some of the Nalargon sounds for some songs.

I was reading on TFN about some of the instruments and it appears that our Ommni Boxes do nothing even close to what they're supposed to do. An Ommni Box is supposed to change the sound of the band as a whole...this sounds suspiciously like a tool we should be able to use to change keys.
So far as different instrument sounds, I would like to see brass and more strings added as well as giving the woodwinds unique sounds like flute, oboe, clarinet, basoon, pan pipe, etc.

Some type of bass guitar, a more drumlike instrument (Sure, the Ommni box is pretty much percussion, but I want something that sounds like a real drum kit), an electric guitar (The Mandoviol only has ONE song that is guitar like... Where's the guitar love!?)

Well I would like instruments to sound like certain instruments ALL THE TIME and not just in some songs.
I'd love for there to be:
saxophone
trumpet
french horn
clarinet
flute
guitar
violin
cello
drum kit (bandfill is good)
bass (separate from the omni and bandfill)
piano
synth
and then let the omnibox (because I don't see it affecting the band itself) be things like steel pans, more synth stuff, records scratching (might make rap worthwhile using), odd sounds that probably wouldn't show up elsewhere. Heck maybe even make it so you can play any instrument on it and can switch during the song just by using the radial menu.
So once the above instruments are taken care of then I think we can start getting creative with things like harmonica, steel guitar, banjo, organ, etc.
