Thread: Do you think it's fair to waste 400k xp out of 900k xp, when you could be spending it on FS xp?

******Completely and Totally Edited out and Rewritten******

I ask that your opinions regarding the new Musician Quest be posted in the following thread:

Regardless of the outcome of these quests, all this annoyance and aggravation is hardly worth 400,000 xp or a new song.

It's a shamethat what should have been a fun, exciting, new challenge has turnedinto yet another battle.

I don't care how this turns out. In my opinion, the Dev teamdestroyed the fun in all of this, at this point. They couldn't even give us a new song without penalizing us. They couldn't give us new content without making us fight yet another battle. This quest was designed before they had any clue about the new Jedi system. Back when xp meant two things - jack and **edit**. And they never touched it again. We called them on it.

They know the xp requirement is unbalanced and wrong.

Will they bother to devote the time to us needed to finish the job they started?

Time will tell.

Yeah, it's kind of a slap in the face. But it's nothing a week of performing can't fix.

It probably wouldn't be so bad if I saw a use for it. At first I thought "A way to reward true musicians?" Nah, because what current evil would have the most XP out of any Live musician? Buffbots.

Then it shifted to "Perhaps the song and spending that XP will become the mark of a true musician!" Nah, because simply going out of your way to do the quest should prove that well enough.

"People were complaining about having all this leftover XP, so the devs gave us a way to spend it. Musician and Dancing XP will become a currency of sorts for us to get new equipment." Bingo. But I guess one of the devs didn't get the memo about the Village. Or perhaps they didn't expect too many Musicians to get to the Village and so haven't spent the XP, which is probably true.

Although I do agree that putting a xp requirement on learning a new song is kind of a hardship, I think that a xp requirement should be alowed to learn it, although much less. I kind of enjoyed it because after finishing the entertainer quests, I now had to get xp. Once I finished with that, I think it made the reward (the song) more exciting and sweet for me. It was just something to add a little (not much) but a little more content, and made me look forward to something again.

It bothered me a bit at first but I don't see a significant issue with it now that I see how fast that experience builds up anyway. I do see a huge issue with this opinion that its bad to expect it of other quests because you need that xp for the jedi quest. This may be a new trend that helps soak up experience and encourage people to actually master things they can enjoy and stick with. There may be even more quests coming with these type of experience requirements.

You chose what you want to accomplish, if Jedi is more important then don't do the musician quest. If both are important then work on the experience needed. But expecting everything else to take a back seat to a quest and grind that the majority aren't even bothering with is absurd.

[edit] the quest I refer to as the majority not bothering with is Jedi. It isn't the do all be all of this game and expecting everything to conform to make that quest easier is rediculous.

As a pure Musician it does not bother me at all.

I could get into that village tomorrow if I wanted to but to be honest I can't really see the point. Being FS offers me nothing to enhance my musical performance - if I wanted better wound healing then I'd use the BE clothing as that is a lot less bother.

(Oh BTW I lack any combat skills as I am an Entertainer).

I capped my Musician skills months ago - probably February. I'd be happy to spend 400k on the new tune.

As for all the complainers - make your mind up. Are you a musician or what?

I don't understand why I must be penalized for choosing both to be a Musician and to pursue Force Sensitivity. I don't expect anything to "take a back seat." I fully expect to get the fair shake everyone else does with Force Sensitivity xp, though.

When Combat people complete the Corvette, must they surrender 200k of Combat xp to get the AV-21 schematic? If not, why? They did their "quest," so charge them their xp penalty.

I could understand an xp requirement of (at most) what a Novice Musician could cap their xp at. Maybe. But, I fully expect that xp penalty to be removed.

400k xp is too much. Way too much. If a Novice Musician can take the quests and complete them, they should be able to gain the reward. As it stands, they cannot. They can't bank 400k xp. If the Devs simply must penalize any Musician who's pursuing Force Sensitivity, make things right. Make the xp requirement the cap amount for a Novice Musician. I won't be happy, but at least anyone who completes the quests can actually get rewarded. Otherwise it's completely cheating them of their reward after they do all that to obtain it.

Aside from the Force Sensitivity xp penalty, anyone who is able to complete the quests should have the option to gain the reward.

Nowhere has it ever said I must choose between Musician and Force Sensitivity. In no way does pursuing Force Sensitivity make me less of a Musician. In fact, Dev-approved, it'll make me MORE of a Musician. I'll get more Wound Healing.

The xp cost is just plain wrong in more ways than one. Read my above post.

C'mon Warryyr...

musicians are well known for making solid decisions and sticking with them... not straying towards any other notions or ideals...

You chose to play the most powerful profession in the game (Musician)...

You must accept the few limitations and penalties that are part of the price for all that Musical Power.

Those poor Master TKA's and the like...

they have to press keys and buttons while losing HAM!!

It's much more complicated than anything a musician would ever have to face...

so there must be balance.

Next thing you'll want isto have some kind of Buff interface to make it a more understandable process for the entertainer and even the listener... or perhaps, maker forbid, the ability to buff yourself!

Accept this limitation as part of your profession's greatness...

FOR WHO ELSE CAN CLAIM THEIR PROFESSION'S NEW CONTENT TO BE SO GREAT THAT IT SHARES A REQUIREMENT OF THE FS QUESTS?

ALL BOW TO THE GREATNESS OF STAR WARS GALAXIES...

The Mighty Entertainers!!!!

(My apologies... I don't normally post in such tones... They're really startig to wear on me with these decisions.)

I've posted in the feedback thread as well.

May the force AND the music be with you
