Create buffbot mistrust.
Make a new character on a server you don't ever play on (You can have multiple characters).
Make the character a human.
Max out action and quickness in the stat migration window before your first shuttle off the "Imperial Transport." Your stats will migrate instantly.
Get to a cantina.
Join the group and play until the character is a Novice Dancer or Musician. it really won't take but a few days of playing this character to build them up.
Make a craptacular buffbot macro. I recommend flourishing once every 5 seconds for about 2 minutes and 15 seconds. Then /stopmusic or /stopdance and say "Your buff is done! Please /stopwatch or /stoplisten!" and /disband.
It's more than likely you'll get your tip. Then the person will realize they only have a 40 minute dance buff. And it was only for 10% of their Mind bar. And it can't be overbuffed. Rats. Sucks for them.
Laugh at hate /tells, and hate emails. Report abusive people. It's not your fault you're a bad buffbot.
It's my $15/month and I'll play my character any way I please. My AFK message only said I was mind buffing for 5k, never did mention how long or strong of a buff if it is...guess a UI for Mind buffs would be just as useful to a customer as to an Entertainer.
If you notice your number of customers dropping whenpeople catch on, delete the character and make a new one, and start again - in a new cantina. Enjoy the ride. It's a hoot, lemme tell ya.

Step 1: Get a bantha as a pet
Step 2: Call bantha.
Step 3: lead batha into cantina, and on top of the buffbot.
Step 4: Say "Stay"
Step 5: Go about your business for a few hours.

Make your character tall and fat...then stand on top of an existing buffbot... That way you're not even going to have tobother with amacro that spams, you can count on the buffbot to advertise for you...the buffbot customer comes up andinvitesyou for the buff? Hey, it's not your problem. There wasn't anyplace else to stand since the cantina was so filled with AFK macrotainers.

I'd like to add something on how to determine the person running the buffbot's IP, how to brute force your way through window's laughable security features, how to make the buffbot say "death to afkers!" before disconnecting, and then killing their operating system, but i won't because
1) Its immoral
2) Its illegal
3) I don't know how to do the 2nd to last part
However, this is almost as fun
1) Find a squad leader with boost morale
2) Give the Squad Leader action buffs
3) Get a combat medic to give the squad leader large amounts of action wounds (use whatever species has the most action stats available for this)
4) Use boost morale to evenly distribute the action wounds to the buffbot. The more players with high action wounds, the better!
5) Eventually you will get the buffbot down to a laughably low number of action points. Repeat for the other bars if you are feeling generous (you are sharing the burden afterall)
Or try this (Haven't done it yet)
Need: Overt Imperial, Overt Rebel
1) Have both overts attempt to heal the buffbot (they may be covertly factioned)
2) Who ever gets the TEF should, in theory, be able to attack and slay the vile being.
I do like warryyr's idea

It's interesting how when somebody feels so strongly about an issue they're willing to break the rules of the game to stop it.
When you actively take up means to break the "buffbots" or "afktertainers" you're participating in harassment. Offer better service, speak out about the broken game mechanics, whatever but you're no better than the people you hate when you go out of your way to break the rules.
Espically when they AREN'T.
The whole quoting line 7 form the EULA

Until recursive macroing is removed from the in-game mechanism they are in the right. When you go about doing things to harass them you cross the line into the wrong.

7. You acknowledge that you are bound by the terms and conditions of the Software License and Limited Warranty that accompanies the Game. You acknowledge and agree that you have not and will not acquire or obtain any intellectual property or other rights, including any right of exploitation, of any kind in or to the software, artwork, music, and other components included in the accompanying CD-ROM (the "Software") or the Game, including, without limitation, in any character(s), item(s), coin(s) or other material or property. You may not use any third party software to modify the Software or to change game play. You may not create, facilitate, host, link to or provide any other means through which the Game may be played by others, such as through server emulators; additionally, you may not engage in matchmaking for multi-player play over unauthorized networks. You may not decrypt or modify any data transmitted between client and server; you may not use or distribute macros or other programs which would allow unattended game play. You may not take any action which imposes an unreasonable or disproportionately large load (as determined by us) on our infrastructure. You may not buy, sell or auction (or host or facilitate the ability to allow others to buy, sell or auction) any Account or any Game characters, items, credits or copyrighted material or any other intellectual property owned or controlled by us or our licensors.
has been clarified by SOEs representatives as how THEY intrepret it.
"I know this was posted to try and help the cause of Dancers/Entertainers who do not like AFK Macroers.
That being said I would like to clarify something; it is not a violation of the TOS, the EULA, or any other rule in SWG to use a macro and be AFK. The CSR in this case was mistaken in their answer, and it has been sent along to their supervisor so that the rules can be clarified for those CSRs who may be confused on the policy.
I wanted to make sure that everyone was aware that the policies do not state that it is a violation. I am not trying to encourage AFK macros just simply making sure the policies are understood since in this case it was incorrect.
Thank you!"

And clarified again by saying
"Actually, I talked with Q-3PO before I posted it, just making sure I was right to begin with. Which I was and so it was perfectly fine that I post the clarification. The only reason it was being clarified was misinformation that was given to a player by a CSR. The CSR misunderstood and before it became an issue beyond just the general dislike of AFK dancers/entertainers I decided that it should be cleared up.
The EULA refers to programs such as MacroQuest (for those of you who come from an EQ background you may know what I'm talking about. Or any other 3rd Party Program which allows unattended benefits in game would be a violation, however the macro system is built into the game and therefore it is not a violation of the EULA to be AFK and using a macro.
You may wish to refer to Dev Tracker for other posts on this subject, Q3PO recently made one.
Thank you,"

Ah yes, the rules lawyer showed up...
Since when is: "/invite, /startmusic, and /changeband ceremonial" considered harrassment? I just want to play a really cool song.
As to your suggestion that entertainers 'offer better service' I thought that by stopping the buffbots, I was offering better service.
If anyone canquote the post regarding the developers' stance on unattended gameplay, it would be appreciated.

First of all, very few things I have seen in this thread break the game's rules in any way, shape or form. Someone standing on top of you or parked a pet on you? Just move. Someone running a crappy bot? That's their perogative. I fail to see anything in this thread that would be acted upon by CSRs.
Even if it were, there comes a time in any struggle when politics and civility and talking things through ceases to work and then violence of some form is the only way to achieve a goal. We'd much prefer the devs to act on their intentions to disable looping macros, but since they seem to have placed that in the priority queue somewhere below "gnorts don't have an authentic breathing animation", I approve of anyone taking the struggle right to the buffbots. If any of them get suspended, I'll personally call them a hero. If any get banned, their name will be spoken with reverence amongst the entertainers as a martyr for eternity.
In all of this, you and you ilk would be well advised to recall that you initiated this fight by destroying our style of living and our ability to survive financially. As with any culture, when our way of life is threatened, we shall strike out, brutally and in an unfair manner at times, to rectify the situation. To all those who are bold enough to do whatever they can in stopping this plague of selfish and immature players who have stolen our professions away, I say to you, and I say it proudly:
LONG LIVE THE BUFFBOT FIGHTERS

And you are...?
"It's interesting how when somebody feels so strongly about an issue they're willing to break the rules of the game to stop it."
Isn't it interesting now the Civil Rights movement and the Womens Rights movement had to break the rules to stop the abuse? We're doing the same, just because this game would be on a microlevel compared to those doesn't make our cause any less justified. You also forgot to mention the Dev posts that say they don't like the AFK macroing and want to see an endto it. They're there...do a little more research.
/shrug
Oh, you'll also find that Jeassa is no longer a mod. Just letting you know.
Her post was alsomade close to a year ago, only a few months into the AFK plague. Things were bad then, but now they have reached a point where they are close to intolerable.
CSRs have assured us that these methods of stopping the buffbots aren't violating anyone else's rights as long as we give the LAMerfull warning ahead of time. This gives the buffbot time to leave if they don't want to be bothered...their permission to do these things is granted if they stay there, which is likely if they're AFK.I'd also like to point out that Warryyr's method doesn't even come close to "griefing" the buffbots.

That may be their interpretation (about a year ago at that), but it still doesn't change the fact that the EULA is a legally binding statement which expressly forbids any form of macro that allows unattended gameplay. While that may mean they won't act on it, we've still got every right to report it as an exploit.
Almost forgot to mention, that post is very old, and there has been a rather large turnover in people working on SWG, so the opinions of one administration may not be the same as that of another.

So everyone justifies their stance because the post is old.
I took the time to show where a SOE representative said it was within the boundries of the game rules. Are all of you so lazy as to show me an updated stance via these boards? I'm sorry but second-hand or third-hand "CSRs told me so" just doesn't cut it. The apropriate text from the EULA has not changed since then, it is exactly as it was when the post was made. They explained their stance, because you do not agree with it does not justify your intrepretation of it.
I can just see using that argument against a speeding ticket.
"The signs need to be updated your honor. Obviously they wern't designed for my Corvette. Besides, the law is old, and the Senator who passed those laws is no longer a senator."
