In the new content, Imperials come and shake down cantinas and scan people for illegal items. I have to say, If they are NOT going to make us part of the GCW ASAP then we should be immune to this. A /registered performer should be immune to all scans and harrassment. Why? this is what i see as a master musician/ master entertainer/ politician. Im playing in bestine for many of my friends. Once an hour there is a shake down and asim playing guess what? WHAK/ WHAM Im dead as i couldnt fight back but im a rebel and had to be attacked. Now you say switch sides... but with all the work i've put in, I don't want to and like the rp value of rebels in hiding. However I have only risk and no reward as a non combatant under the current system. My previous idea bout us being information gatherer's would give us some risk verse reward. here is a clip of a post about the discussion on the crack down:

One concern about the cantina shakedowns is for performers. Im sorry but if your not going to include the performers into the gcw then killing them while playing is just wrong. Now if they are going to be a part of the war thats a different story. There is an easy way to do so. Let them be information gatherer's since people talk when drunk. Make the confiscation list change daily or weekly. Let entertainers learn this from missions or in the cantina. Then they can pass the info to the playerbase. That way if they want to play in an imperial city as a rebel, there is a risk vs. reward. They are risking death but doing so so they can help the rebels learn what the imperials are scanning that week.Otherwise if its just me playing a tune, getting shotand killed, its lame.

I love the idea of confiscation if it were properly implimented.By having a known "list" I don't think that people would mind the confiscation thing as much. Especialy if we could learn one week in advance then its really there loss for bringing the item in an area they knew would they would be scanned in. Maybe when it comes to recources, its not the whole amount but a percentage. Having confiscation but a way to learn what the empire will be looking for really makes it up to them and puts a lot of strategy into the game. Just make lists anounced via entertainer missions one week prior. Make the list specific such as slicedLCC's, Lokian wheat and Muon will be the top of the confiscation list this next week. Implement it this way and while people may be a little upset when they lose stuff, they had warning in advance and could have taken mesures in advance as well. Plus this allows for a whole new area of contend for taylors, smuglers and ID people. All of which can have items for consealment. Ie taylors can make backpacks with "hidden areas" ID people change the look making them apear as imperial and open to saying "soldier move along" and its obvious about smugglers.

Do something like this dev's and i'd be ok with being attacked when playing because i have risk vs reward. don't and your just gunna **** off entertainers even more.

but alas i joke because this was posted in the musician thread and thus will never be read.

Where can we read about the details of the Imperial crackdown? Sorry, I keep hearing about it, but I can't find the specific thread anywhere.

I had a Force sensitive character, with 23 and a half boxes ground out.
I had a master creature handler.
I had a high lvl crafter character.
I had a Bounty Hunter that I hunted PC Jedi with.

My game is dead.

Read the GCW forum. The GCW correspondent informed his readers that there will be no items confiscated. That was a rumor that got out of hand.

Mind if I play devils advocate here?

Last I checked if you are not a part of the GCW (IE neutral) you are immune, provided you don't have anything illegal. Once you have picked a side, you are a part of the GCW. If you chose rebel, there are risks. This is a war and the rebellion is being hunted down and slaughtered like dogs. You risk being detected by a covert detector in a middle of a bunch of storm troopers. You risk getting a TEF and being hunted by other players. And you risk being caught by troops who rigerously scour the cities for rebel scum.

Similarly, if you choose to carry illegal goods (IE spice or illegally modified weapons or armor) you are also taking a risk. What's the reward to go with that risk? Well, you have better equipment and buffs that people who follow the straight and narrow don't have.

I guess I'm with Tiaga on this: my main is a rebel Musician, and I *like* the idea that he'll get raided from time to time. He roleplays an uppity rebel -- taunting Imps in the audience, asking supposedly innocent questions about Alderaan, that sort of thing -- and he would love it if a Stormtrooper walked in and tried to rough him up. In part he'd love it because he's a Master Musician/Master Entertainer/almost-Master Carbineer, and he needs the Carbine XP. (He's too enraptured by our city's dancers to leave the cantina and make Master Carbineer.) Won't the crackdown make us more a part of the GCW, and isn't that good?

As Tiaga says, neutrals are supposed to be immune.

Incidentally, I just performed for half an hour on Test Center in a player city cantina, and no one else in the band reported any ST break-ins. Some of them, I suspect, had been there for hours. I'm kinda hoping we see pretty frequent shakedowns.

well, i figure, if preformers are immune, then people might pick up novice entertainer, and if they see people being scanned, they could just start dancing/playing and then they would be safe... this sort of defeats the purpose...

and anyways... ive always wanted to be attacked by stormies in my cantina... sure my rifle isnt that effective for htis sort of thing... but well, thats why i pack a happily sliced fwg

Just the 2 credits of a new player...

But first a question... Are faction-neutral guys immune to this?

Being an entertainer should be a reasonable way to escape the crackdown...

Imagine the scene... A cantina filled with all kinds of shady lowlifes, a band is playing and a couple of girls are on stage dancing. CRASH! the door flies open, in march a bunch of stormies. Who do they search? The crowd, of course. Why should they suspect the entertainers? Sure, some of us use spice but... Well... In the course of music over the years, drugs have done some good things, no?

Sure, punish the combat professions. I'm cool with that. The non-combat guys need a break. Let's face it, we can't really advance in terms of NPC missions or... well... Much else. Heh.

I have enough trouble walking to my player city (still a ways away from that shuttleport...) without much more than my trusty pistol, let alone having to fight storm troopers.

This crack-down just seems like one more kick to the teeth to the non-combatants among us. The combat professions will LOVE it. More chances to get xp. For people who don't like to fight, it's more chances to visit the cloning station.

SOE needs to stop pandering to the combat-wombats among us and pay attention to the people who are prepared to overlook the fact that the game has more bugs than a termite mound and are willing to just sit back and absorb the general Star Wars-ness of the gaming world.

Sorry if I don't like the idea of stormies interrupting my set and kicking my defenceless Twi'Lek ass.
