Hello Musicians,
I've tallied up your votes for our top issues, using a weighted method approved by my math-major friend , and the following is what I've come up with. I've taken the liberty of combining a few of the issues, given my guesses of what the devs would see as the same issue. I present them to you here before sending them off to dev-land, so that if you want to make any final adjustments to your votes, based on what you see here, or if you think I'm way off in my tallying, you have a chance to let me know. So without further ado...
  1. Unattended Play - This was by far the clear number one issue, and seen by many as the only important issue before anything else is considered.
  2. More songs and instruments - We're getting two new songs soon, but we'll always want more! And how about some new instruments too .
  3. Entertainer specific content - Ideas like cantina mini-games, putting gambling in player cantinas, or spy-like roles - we want something to do when we're not partying with other people.
  4. Ability to buff ourselves - Pretty self explanatory - our game mechanics should benefit ourselves as well as others.
  5. Fix the issues with the nalargon and ommni box - It should be easier to use these instruments (not have to keep them targetted all the time), and please stop players from harrassing us by being able to steal them away from us.

  6. Give us some kind of buffing interface to make it clear when we're buffing someone and by how much.
  7. Make our buffing active and not passive - we want control over our mechanics.
  8. Fix the bugs with /startband and /changeband
  9. Remove the 15 second wait after stopping entertaining.
  10. Make instrument quality mean something, or remove it entirely.
  11. Change the entertainer skill mods in the FS Enhanced Healing line to be something more useful than wound healing, which we already do quite quickly enough.
  12. Give entertainers access to other game content, especially a role in the Village.
  13. Give us tools that help us be more creative with our art - the closer we get to being able to compose our own music, the better.
  14. Present a document that gives the vision for our profession, so that we know where we are supposed to fit in the world of SWG.
  15. Make our missions better - more interesting, scaling with ability, more lucrative.
  16. Make /denyservice work like the ignore list, permanent between play sessions, and visible for our perusal.
  17. Allow droids to be grouped in space, so that we can use our droids to enhance our performance when we party up there.
  18. Create unisex clothing that enhances skills for musicians.
  19. Fix the issues with player theaters, including the inability to perform game mechanics on stage, the inability to use the nalargon/ommni box on stage, and the inabilty to see droid effects on stage.
  20. Make our experience be based on character level instead of based on song/instrument so that we feel less pressure to play the same things all the time.
  21. Give us the ability to play real SW music (like the kind of things the jukebox plays), even if those particular songs aren't flourishable.
  22. Get rid of the spamming NPCs in the cantina that make it impossible to parse out text from other players.
  23. Give us the ability to perform our game mechanics in more locations, such as healing BF outside of buildings, and other mechanics anywhere, such as is possible with a medical droid.
  24. Provide an ability to cycle-target players.
  25. Make the mandoviol and ceremonial available to Musicians (without having to get Master Entertainer).
  26. Allow the calling of droids inside NPC cantinas.
  27. Make an ATK buff somehow better than an AFK one.
  28. Equalize battle fatigue and wound healing times, since wound healing is many times faster than battle fatigue healing.
  29. Give us a role in the GCW.
  30. Give us a notification of who listens to us, as happens when doing the promotion part of the theater quests now.
  31. Give us the ability to walk while playing our instruments.
  32. Make bandflourishes grant xp for all musicians in the group, not just the one who performed the bandflourish.
  33. Remove the ability to /register in locations like city halls and player med centers.
  34. Provide some kind of integration between musicians and the jukebox.
  35. Fix the bug that only shows flourish animations to people who are /listening to your group, and have sound enabled - the flourish animations should happen regardless, like with dancers.
  36. Make the microphones and loudspeakers work.

I just think it needs to be driven home to the Devs as clearly as possible just how much the AFK issue overshadows all our other concerns. And yes, I know you've stated that anyway in your list, I'd just want to point out that you couldn't possibly state it too forcibly

On that note, I think another clear statement by the Devs would be in order saying that yes, they do still want to remove AFKing for all professions (not just to stop AFK looters because the combat players complained), and they want to remove it soon. Because nothing has been heard of them about this for months. TH's last thread about this was started last August unless I'm mistaken.

We need - no, we deserve - to knowif they are still committed to this. Because I've started to doubt that already...

Not only is afk the most important, but so is having an interdependent role in the game. What I mean is, on more than one occasion the devs have said that they are committed to removing afk play, but they also wanted to provide certain considerations to people who might not be able to find an entertainer. Whether that means adding NPC's to do our job, making us 0 skillpoint professionsor possibly even taking mindbuffs away from us completely, I do not know. But, along with a statement that yes, long term afk will be eliminated, I would like included in that statement that we will have an interdependent economic role within the game when they do remove that afk. And, that interdependent role must come before or at the same time as these "considerations" occur. We still want to be a full fledged viable profession that costs skill points within the game. I mean, if they did remove afk, and only made us completely worthless in the process, they must know the severe backlash that would occur.

Yeah, we're not the only ones who are saying "what happened to removing recursive macros?"

Lots of people want this to go away, actually. And most of them see what's happened to us, and hope the Devs help us soon. I've seen various threads pop up about recursive macros, and there's always a couple of hotheads who start accusing Entertainers of wanting to nerf everyone else's game for our own selfish interests (to which I always respond that the DEVS made the choice to remove macros, not us- we just want our game back).

I would also like an affirmation of removing AFK play. I'm disappointed that no such statement was made in the "Coming soon to a theater near you!" thread. I asked, very politely, that any Dev reaffirm the removal of AFK, and heard nothing from anyone. I think that's junk, personally.

I am one of the folks who feel that AFK is the only item I want to see fixed anytime soon. Unless that's resolved, the ability to AFK anything new for us makes this game and our professions look cheap.

But, I would of course be glad to see anything listed above. Good list, Scip!

I would agree with the rest, a statement that they are ridding all afk play would be great - but I would also like to see a statement more along the lines of what we are supposed to be, what is our profession's future? We havent been told what our role in this game is since like the first year. it would be nice to know with the new dev attitude we have recieved what we are supposed to have as a role in this game.

After all we arent combatants.

So those would be my top 2, maybe 7 depending on how many same responses i can have. Other than that, more songs of course, i would like to see a buffing interface up on top 5(or something to tell us they got the buff), and i would like to see us able to move around while playing the smaller horns.

I really doubt they will ever fix the nala ommni issue as they said it has to do with the way the items are in the world, and same with buffing ourselves.

I think the order is correct and reasonable. I would like to see some vote counts beside the items. It might help highlight how large the gap is between the AFK issue and the others. I agree with everyone else it has been a long time since we heard a reaffirmation that AFK is going away. I would like some word that this is still the case. I also find it totally stupid that they want to make concessions for people who need ent buffs in off hours, are they making similar concessions for doc buffs? People are spoiled, it is time for them to remember that the game is supposed to be challenging.

Ask, and ye shall (sort of) receive. I give you the graph of the weighted scores of the Musician top issues. Some of the item labels in the legend aren't complete or completely accurate, but I had in mind the true issue when tallying up the scores, and the items are listed in the same order as the list in the original post, so you can match it up that way.

In any case, I obviously still have the spreadsheet of the issues with me, so if anyone wants to change their issues based on how things turned out (I know I sometimes see an issue I'd not even thought of before but is a major one when doing these things), please post your updated top 5 here and I can re-tally to see if things change. Barring anything crazy, I plan on handing this list to the devs by the end of the week.

You might want to be specific about instruments when sending this to the devs. Personally I would like to see a trumpet style instrument and a new stringed instrument. Maybe a portable drum in conjunction to the walking while playing an instrument

Could you put this higher on the list? I'm not talking like top 10 but the devs most likely aren't even going to read past 20 or they will think anything past 20 is not important to the musician community at all. Something I have always hated about musician was the songs never sounded like the songs from the movies. This has bugged me since I started playing and first heard StarWars1.

Just some suggestions.

The list looks great by the way, if the devs put even half this stuff in the game it would be much better for musicians.
