There's a post about the Combat Upgrade, and it has a little news about us.
The profession trees for Entertainers, Musicians, Dancers and Image Designers will be affected by the Combat Upgrade, and will likely need some profession tweaking because of the changes with wounds, stat migration and buffs to the mind. We will make adjustments to entertainers by creating some long lasting, minor buffs for combat professions.
HAM is changing, too:
Statistics
- Star Wars characters will now have a single hit point bar, called "Health". When health reaches zero, the player is incapacitated.
- Offensive attacks are performed ultimately to damage your opponent’s health statistic in order to win in combat. Players continue to perform special actions in combat that they receive during their character’s advancement. These actions draw from two point pools "Action" and "Mind". You must have the required number of pool points to perform the action.
- There will be no more stat migration capability.
- Players no longer have the so-called "drain" stats: Strength, Quickness, and Focus. They will continue to have the recharge stats "Constitution", "Stamina", and "Willpower", however they will be called "health regeneration rate", "action regeneration rate", and "mind regeneration rate".
- Species differentiation will be defined by different regeneration stats, skill mods, and minor special abilities.
- The only wounds a player can receive are health wounds. All other wound types will be removed from the game.
Health, Action, Mind pools
- A character's maximum health will increase with the character's combat level up to 300%. New character health will be 1000, maxed character health will be 3000.
- Players will be able to reference their combat level.
- Short term buffs will modify this health value no more than 20%.
- Long term buffs will modify this health value no more than 10%.
- Species modifiers will affect no more than 10% of a base statistic.

Is Battle Fatigue going to remain in the game?
Battle Fatigue is still part of combat.
So, it looks like we'll likely be healing battle fatigue from now on, and providing 10% buffs to the Health pool, which are long-term buffs. This leads me to believe that Doctor buffs will be the short-term 20% buffs, so again we'll have a time disparity between profession buffs.
What does everyone think about this?

We are getting HOSED in this deal. OMG I hate this change. I have one combat profession - TKM and now I have to talk another box of Brawler and will have to drop some ID or musican.

hosed is putting it nicely... were simply getting quietly removed from the game. I'd ask a dev to confirm but as per usual they don't comment to us ...*whispers* it ruins the "quiet" death thing if they comment to us.

I think this bit here more or less comes out to say that we will no longer have buffs of ANY kind. At least until they get around to creating some for us.

Quiet death? Well, I fear that in May, it'll look more like the plague. Complete with rats.

poor image designers. No more stat migration for them. Wasn't that how image designers were making money. Now you know why they reduced skill point requirements for ID. Stat migration overall being removed is completely stupid. Now every individual of a species is the same. The only difference will come from your professions? Wow, just about every RPG I've ever played allows statistical customization of your characters in some way or another. Talk about pigeon holing species into professions even more so than it happens now. Of course, 10% of a modifier isn't much at all, so I guess it doesn't really matter.
Thankfully, you'll still have enough skill points to master one combat profession, musician and entertainer (with 4 points left over!) if you so desired. Disappointing because I was going to make a character to do the new smuggling stuff that would be a master smuggler, master pistoleer and master TKA. It was possible with 3 points left over before the new rules. Now, it's -25 points with the new rules. So the new skill point stuff really chafes me.
At least we'll still heal battle fatigue. How's that going to affect our profession though? If they remove mind wounds, that's a whole damn discipline from Musician and Dancer. What are they going to replace it with? Oh... I bet they split Knowledge into two disciplines. One will give us instruments and the other gives us the songs (Dancers I guess get their dances broken into two disciplines.) Lame.
As for combat itself, sounds like City of Heroes with the wind-ups and cool downs. I guess that's ok, it made for an interesting combat system.
Overall... I'm glad the Matrix Online starts tomorrow. I'm glad DDO will be out in the fall.

I just want to fight for the ability to respec.
Since we are getting so altered by this, we should be able to respec (But of course, since our entire profession can be mastered by AFK-ing, that would NEVER be allowed).
I'll be honest, I'm not going to be entirely doom and gloom about this... but I definately think there are some majorly wrong directions being taken.
All in all, I'm going to look at this as a new Star Wars game and hope that I like it as much (or more) as I did this game when it came out.
I'll wait to see what's really going down before I have a solid opinion on things...
But, of course, there really is no question about what this will do to all of us entertainers.
I guess I was more prepared for that end than I thought.
We'll see... the whle skill point thing... we'll see how it ends up... they will likely be changing the costs of different professions, so don't assume that you'll definately be forced out of your current template. We can only wait and see... hehe, or leave and don't look back.

my current template will be unaffected, assuming skill point costs remain the same. That's Master Music, Master Entertainer and working towards Master Pistoleer (if I played much, current combat is pretty boring, IMO.) Unfortunately, that's a gimped template now, because Pistols really need BH and Smuggler to be fully rewarding, compared to say rifles or TKAor Fencing.
We'll see how things shape up in terms of skill points and bonuses for each skill box in the new system.
However... If entertainers ever get the ability to add short term buffs in the field or during combat, I delete my account immediately. We are not the Bard class from Dungeons and Dragons! I'm hoping the short term buffs are limited to docs.

Well great, only BF and a "minor" buff which sure doesn't sound very important.
It will probably be a mind buff still as mind stats are used for specials hence, mind buff = more specials.
What bothers me more then that is losing one of our action secondaries and if stat migration is no longer an option, then it looks like we will be "reset" to where ever they want to put our stats. How much ya wanna bet that the stats don't allow us to perform in a continuous manor any more. The wait to heal may make the removal of the 15 second delay quite trivial.

Heh, that is true.
We'll have to get back the faithful Entertainer Medics! I always thought of them as SWG's Roadies!
They were the best... the good ole Entertainer Medics. And not the ones from the holocron grinding days, but the guys from the beginning of this game, that would sit in the med centers and never get tipped :/
Then head down to the cantina out of boredom and never leave again... whooping it up in the cantina and getting tons of xp while having fun with us, until they got invited to go on a hunt.
They always returned though... none of them could ever believe how nice we were to them and how much we thanked them over and over.
You know... as much as we have been plagued by the AFK Bots... Medics have almost been equally replaced by a non-player presence... the Buffs (Not the buffer but the actual buff).
Take the buff out and you need a healer (An actual Player) in it's place.
Obviously it's better for hunting than our shows (I mean that it makes a little more sense).
However, if we need medics to play constantly, I won't turn them away... unfortunately there's not much money in it for them.
They'll be back to a low income profession as well.
They probably won't want to come and heal us.
We're really reaching the bottom now.
When I saw the little paragraph devoted to entertainers, I thought "Wow, they realized how much this'll affect us and they've already got some fixes in for us... Oh, never mind".
I couldn't believe they posted what we have on Test Center right now as part of our perks to go along with the CURB.
I'd laugh a bit more about it, but it was almost too offensive.
And to think we were upset the other week when we learned this was all we were getting with things the way they are now.
Now, we see how things are going to be changed and it's shocking that they think it's okay to take so much away from a profession that is in such need of life support.
It's like entertainers are these old ruins and they're taking down the last column that was holding the remaining walls up.
I don't know how long this profession could possibly survive between these changes and a future entertainer upgrade.
I'll bet my nalargon they won't fix us before I'm done waiting.
(Still not doom and gloom... I just sound that way right now)

Then again...
As far as Musicians and Dancers are concerned, the little positives didn't make a difference for us in this AFK-Bot Era, these other changes won't either.
We can't get any less important (Even if they take away the wounds) so I guess no harm done.
Now we see why they reduced the ID skill points.
One big disappointment is how they are reducing prereq's for Commando and BH. Instead of finally improving the unique things that were orignally developed for this game, or making those hybrid professions worth the skill points that they required, they're focusing more on making things less unique and lowering the skill points for the professions that they never made good enough to deserve such high skill point costs.
Just seems backwards to me.
Make BH worth it. (Give them as much defense as we get!)
If they can't make other combat professions equal... they're NEVER going to work us into any kind of balanced game.

oh oh - but the real kicker is - somewhere around page 25 of that CU post Thuderheart wrote:

We have thought about these things though, and we will continue to look at these and similar issues as they progress and make the appropriate changes."
What the....Excuse me??? HELLO!! TH I think you need to open your eyes - the CU has affected andtotally CHANGED the entertainer professions.
