Thread: Master Musician but missing Instrument
If you go up the Entertainer tree, but do not take Image Design, or Dancing, and then Master Musician, according to the description of Master Musician you are supposed to have all the Instruments and Songs, but Mandoviol and Ceremonial are only available to the Master Entertainer.
What gives?

i guess i don't understand the question. Your reward for practicing a bit of Image Design and a whole bunch of dancing is a new song and the ability to play the only stringed instrument i've ever seen in the game. A fairly nice reward for the few misc skills you need to pick up.
i reached master entertainer today and look forward to picking up my Mandoviol, however at this rate i might just have to build my own. Ceremonial is also a nice melodic song to replace the musical chaos that is starwars3 on the Fizz or Kloo.
Master Entertainer is by far not a step every musician must or will ever have to take, but for some of us it is a worthy enough step to put off Musician for a few days/weeks to get.
sorry i posted too soon. keeps reading....
Master Entertainer is by far not a step every musician must or will ever have to take, but for some of us it is a worthy enough step to put off Musician for a few days/weeks to get. Or even something they come back to after advancing to their preferance on the musician skill tree.
What encouragement would there be for a Musician to get master entertainer if they didn't put any worth while rewards for gaining ME? not much. You think the rabbit would move if you didn't hold the carrot in front of his nose? well ok, he might but it would be all to the left and probably backwards a whole bunch first.
That's my point, Master Musician is described as having "every instrument, and every song" but this is not the case.
I'm not wasting my time with Dancing and Image Design just for this instrument /song. I have other professions to master to complete my character.
My question to the developers is why use this description and not give us the instrument? Why reward dancing and haircuts with a guitar and song? ![]()

I have to agree I wish we didnt have to get master entertainer too to get all the instruments and songs but its not hard to get just waste skill points for people who dont want to pursue image design and dancing.

i can see both sides of it. I wish it wasn't like this. It would be nice to save the skill points and just work on something else. But on the other side of the coin i can completely understand where the Devs are coming from. There needs to be a "reward" for musicians to train up to Master Entertainer.
Not only that but from a Roleplay perspective, the BEST Musician would have to be one that Mastered Entertainer. Technically speaking said musician would have a wider cultural and artistic influence in their music and playing style. Perhaps the diversity of the Entertainer class is the reason why the instrument learned at the end is theONLY Stringed instrument in the game.
Although i still don't see hwo Image Design fits into all of this. I can't find a justifiable reason to skill this up other than, it's in the Entertainer skill set so you have to. *shrugs*
I have to disagree. The Devs have it backwards. A Master "Entertainer" would have both the Musicianship and Dancing. To branch these off Entertainer makes no sense. The skill tree should allow people to take Music OR Dancing, then Entertainment as a mastery. To Master Entertainment would require both Dancing and Music.
To tell me that I need to Dance and Cut Hair to learn a song and and instrument makes little to no sense.
Maybe Scissorship and Ballerina, but not Music. ![]()
Going back from novice musician/dancer to get a master entertainer title takes a couple days tops (image design only takes a couple hours to get level IV), and IMO the ceremonial song and mandovial is well worth it.
As to why you should have to be a master entertainer to get the song/instrument - come on, they have to give them something don't they? If master musicians got the same music master ents did, why would anyone ever get the ME title? It's not like musicians would do it to get the dances, so why would they go a couple of days out of the way if they got it in the musician line anyway?
Just like has been said before: mandovial and ceremonial are rewards for getting master entertainer. Spend the day dancing if it bothers you that much, dancers get more xp than musicians anyway... trust me it goes fast.
(and the reward is very worth it!)
Think of any successful real life (tm) musician and realize that they all have some image design going on. Their image, as defined by the way they look, whether it's Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Bob Dylan, or Britney Spears...is something they've carefully crafted.
Don't beat the analogy to death, because this is just a game system interpreting that intoa skill..and a nice skill for SWG to have finding a place for itself in a skill tree.
And you can't really call yourself a Master Musician, as it's represented in the game, without understanding how your partners in crime, the dancers, work. And darned if musicians don't dance on stage sometimes too ![]()
If you want to be the Master...do the Master's work. If not...those of us who did will probably be happy to lay down a stringed lick or two for you ![]()
yeah but there is something non-intuitive about a Master Musician who can't play the mandiovol unless they practice styling hair ...
there do need to be significant rewards for mastering Entertainer, but I think they should be rewards that boost all the underlying fields without leaving those who specialize shut out.
for example, Master Artisan gets schematics for components that I'm sure are very important for advanced crafts - droids, I think. Now if I'm a Master Droid Engineer but not Master Artisan, I might need to go to someone else to get the components, but I can still make all the droids.
putting mandiovol in Master Entertainer is like putting C3PODroid in Master Artisan.
this is amplified by the fact that there are only 9 (?) instruments in the game. if there were 100 instruments then not being able to play 1 or 2 wouldn't be a big deal, but when there are only 9 each one becomes hugely important.
my suggestion for rewards for Master Entertainer are:
- plus Skill Mods to everything that makes sense, including Hairstyle Customization
- cool Schematics, maybe Colored Light party favors
- Ability animations like Juggling or something

You meant Protocol droids. We all got it though.
