Thread: About the new battlefield (hint : cantina)

I know it's not as biggy as the jukebox that really is something i wouldn't have imagine that SOE would come with but here is another problem that arise with the new publish that came out.

I certainly find enjoying each time i see a publish hopping to see something good comming from it. However i never though a cantina could be transform in a battlfield that quick. I'm mostly playing in Theed cantina on the Valcyn server. I was getting much fun there. Although today was different, it's now crowded with imperial stormtroopers firing at each rebel that goes across theed or so. But all those that get attacked all come to a single place before trying to get out : the cantina. Yea, actually in about 15 min, what were a nice cantina with enjoyable people that where comming to listen to music, watch those good dancer and ease their pain became a place field with killing and fighting. I saw 5 people died in that time and stormtrooper just continu to get in.

Yes now thats a sad story... i'm not a imperial nor a rebel. I'm only a MM that try to enjoy his profession a bit by playing out there with friends and to talk with new people. Calm and nice cantina, respecting entertainer in their job and their way of amusement, and now a battlefield without respect for anyone in their. Okay, I'm repeating myself there... But here is the point :

Cantina have always been a place that was staying neutral. Even if there was fight in it, there was always a way to get them to do it outside. Since there was no NPC involvement at all that was easy. Now, NPC are everywhere either it is rebel or imperial, they all patrol over the city to search for opposing faction and they find them. But people always kept in mind that the cantina was a neutral ground and went in it to stop a fight. Now it's no more the case, NPC are rushing inside and killing everything that could be an opposition to them. I though that the jukebox might be the worste thing SOE could sort out for us with the possible way to put it in parties and get us pretty screwed because it cost less and all. Might think as well that they'll put hologirl dancing someday out in the game since they seems to have gone to the point of amking us disapeard.... Either way, they have set up a path that will come to end the musician profession. Lack of respect from SOE with the jukebox and the cantina getting screwed, people prefering buff bot to live entertainer, people not carring anymore to pay us after they get their buff and the lack of player taking the profession compare to all those that quit it actually.

SWG : ED might be the first and unique MMO out there to have set profession related to the entertainment but they are the only one to have been so unwillingly to improve our condition only bringing us deeper in a deep canyon where it will be nearly impossible to get us out when they will think back over it.

I might be the only thinking like that as well as many of you could think like that. I'm also sorry for the writting as English isn't my primary language.

you can complain or look at the bright side.

More combat inside the cantina = more need for healing wounds (mind/BF/other) at the cantina = increased traffic and hopefully increased xp and income for entertainers

It means more lag, more spam, and real problems for factionally aligned entertainers. We already asked the players to take their duels outside why the heck did SOE think we wanted the place to be a war zone. Increased traffic is fine but lets make it healing traffic not spamming NPC and combat thanks. I spend hours in cantinas and I'm really not excited about seeing a crowd of NPC coming in every 5 minutes and filling spacial with more macro spam.

The bright side? Seeing all the dead AFK performers and buff bots.

dead afkers/buffbots: makes me happy, yes, but, having to drop what im doing whenever a stormtrooper and shows up in a cantina, not too pleasant, and well, this also means taht well, now, for me to go entertain, i'll probably end up needing a buff and a set of armor on my entertainment bar, or entertain in armor, both of wihch, i dont really like the idea of.

There have always been moments of combat in cantinas in the Star Wars movies, but cantinas certainly weren't the warzones they've become.

The NPC's are excessive, bottom line. The spamming, the endless slaughter and combat, blaster fire, etc - cantinas aren't any kind of place to relax anymore.

How the hell can anyone hear my music over stormtrooper SHOUTING constantly and blasting everything that moves?

I'm in agreement, it's annoying.

Even back in ANH we see Han Solo getting into a blaster fight in the cantina. I don't mind the fights...it gives some excitment to my entertaining. But then again I "grew up" in SWG in Anchorhead entertaining back when PvP was in it's glory days. Standing around with a bunch of zombie entertainers..a girl welcomes a little blaster fire. THAT isStar Wars to me.

As I think others have suggested elsewhere, maybe the hotels and theaters should see some more use.

In fact, in an imperial-aligned city, I'd imagine rebel-aligned entertainers would congregate in them, as would rebel-aligned players looking for relaxation and/or buffs, since (apparently) going into a cantina is nowlike walking into no man's land.

I don't know about rebel-aligned cities - are there rebel NPCs that are just as annoying as the STs?

Yes, the Rebel NPCs are very annoying.

There's no need to Entertain in armour, though. If one is factionally-aligned, simply Entertain in player cities, NPC cities that are permanently aligned with one's faction, or on the Neutral planets. Or leave one's faction.

If this means that some cantinas other than Coronet, Theed and Mos Eisley actually get used, there is definitely an upside.

Instead of a cute pet or a flashy entertainer droid, I just dance with my AT-ST out set to guard.

Full out GCW wars should not be going on inside the cantinas, end of story!

The only reason this is happening is because the Cantina Crackdowns are back in and with the TEF changes it makes each and every cantinaa literal breeding ground of Stormtroopers.

Thefaction in opposition to the controlling faction should be spawning justOUTSIDE the city limits, not inside the cantinas! If they happen to make it near a cantina, make them do a walk-through and initiate a crackdown, but it's just not good the way it is now. My girlfriend is working on Master Dancer, and she likes it for the interaction and then dancing, and I know she's not the only one getting fed up with all the shooting going on in there all the time.

I think the scanning code needs to be changed to that a player who is Entertaining won't be scanned.

I think there needs to be a checkbox for NPC chatter that is not directed at you. When an NPC needs to say somethign to me, I want to hear it, but now its just inane. Especially since they started emoting in their speech. I used to be able to mentally block it, since the lines of text had a uniform appearance, now each one is different.

This situation is intolerable. There is now a constant stream of spamming NPCs entering the cantina and it is extremely annoying. I could see one coming in once an hour or so but this constant stream is so unrealistic and they spam the same corny lines. It is my opinion everyone should do a /report on every single spamming NPC and when they get thousands of pages of reports to deal with, perhaps the message will get across.

I visited the Theed cantina and frankly, it will be along timebefore I get any desire to go back. Certainly not intill they fix this BS.

I haven't seen this happen yet on Bloodfin. Actually, I haven't even seen the ST's do a crackdown on the cantina yet.
