I know another poster has already posted a link, but on occasion developments are important enough that they warrant a separate post by a Correspondent to ensure that no one misses the news. Yes, the recursive macro is going away! I've lobbied for this change for months -- really since last year. I'm sort of stunned that they're actually going to do the right thing. YAY! The post is at

What is really wrong with afk people? They added your precious "afk ignore" and if they didnt put themselves on afk you can still manually type it for goodness sakes! So what if someone wants to spend THEIR $15 a month afk? Don't like afkers, DONT PATRON!!!! It is that simple. And now, thanks to the endless line of whinners, I will now have to go find someone to buff me and I might even have to talk to them to be polite. Maybe I dont want to talk to people which is why I choose to go to the afkers. There will be evils to this you havent even had the forethought to think of!! Give it two weeks and all you people moaning will be moaning again for it to be fixed because it has now messed you up in some other way.

AFK'ers degrade the game experience of the rest of us. They devalue my profession. They make it more convenient for someone to get their heal or a buff from a bot than from me. They fill up a room with garbage spam that can't always be filtered out. That's what's wrong with AFKers.

First things first

New Jedi: don't even bother with garbage like that

Possible Workaround of Solution: Posted on dancer fourm: (i intend to do similar for a CoB macro): Just copy the first macro and put a /pause x at the beginning of the 2nd (or 3rd or 4th) with x equaling the amount of time the preceding macro takes to run.

Now, for the solution its self: How does it help me kill these buffbots faster? That and it will greatly hurt artisan professions (You try grinding DE without a macro)

Is it just me or did anyone else just see the skies open and the whole host of angels begin to sing?

The party on Bria is going to be like nothing you've ever seen.

I have mastered DE without any macros. And you know what ... Im proud of it. I feel like I deserve the title master. Many folks outthere are grinding away and when they "reach the top" they have no clue of what they doing. They play their Profession for two weeks and then drops it, just to start grind some other profession away.

Put some effort in what u doing and it all becomes meaningful. Grind and u never feel the "value" of your work.

I am currently leveling up in musician (for the 2nd time). My first musician grind was a better experiencebecause there were hardly any AFK entertainers; it was before the holo grind and the advent of buff bots. Now Im finding the musician leveling less enjoyfull because I have to stand next to bots. People dont tip because to them why tip a buff bot? So they pretend to "listen" to the botand ignore the real entertainers so they are not forced to tip us.

This news about eliminating looping macros is wonderful news and has renewed my desire to keep playing music.

Sure, you can do that. But make sure youcheck back on your bot in a half hour. Remember, dear buffbot, you can just stand there and not flourish. The buff will just take a long time.

And I'll be standing next to you, doing it in 2 and a half minutes. And I won't mind! You won't be spamming, spammer.

I have done the same (well, I'm not quite a master). People need to realize that macros were added as a support system, not as something to be relied on. Everything that you do in-game right now, you'll still be able to do after they take away recursive macros. You'll just have to do it differently. It might mean making a long macro that runs for 20 minutes, so you have to start it manually every 20 minutes instead of just letting it run. Since you bought the game to be able to play it, that means you're in-game playing it, right? And if you're playing it, that means you're there to hit the button, right? Right?

Frankly I think this is one of the best things I've seen happen to this game in a long time, and I applaud the devs for having the guts to throw it out there. The last week or so has been chock-full of these very brazen fixes and updates, and I hope it continues. It's like they finally realized that whatever they do, they can't win, so they're just going to do what's healthy for the game and take it on the chin. Good for them.

The only down side for musicians (or any entertainers for that matter) is that it affects those of us that have composed songs or dances that rely on calling other macros or looping. This isn't going to put an end to those, but it will force us to go about it differently. No more fire-and-forget songs and performances. Nope - you actually have to be there to do it.

What a novel concept.

Personally I've been an Entertainer a very very long time. In all my time there have always been AFK people beside me dancing, playing music, and always frequently saying "Dont forget to tip!!!" or "Please heal me if my action is low". This has always aggrivated me!!! I want entertainers to actually be entertaining.

Not to mention this will help me financially. Giving Mind buffs is my only source of income. (No combat skills, spare pistols II). When I am in a Cantina trying to sell buffs there is usually another player right next to me (whom is AFK mind you) saying "Invite me to your group for free mind buffs, dont forget to disband so other people can have them too!!!" Now when Im standing there trying to sell my buffs, I get no one who asks for them because they don't have to pay for buffs from a Bot. (I don't charge much just 2k a buff! And mind you In my well about 7 months of playing have never had more then 300k).

As for this getting rid of all the entertainers around, I wont have a problem. It will make me more useful!

What excellent news!

No more of those recursive macros that have been the bane of ATK entertainers everywhere. Sure they had some uses. But if you are truly ATK, nothing prevents you from creating a performance macro and restarting it as appropriate. Since you're there to interact with the audience, you will be there to start the next act or restart the previous one.

This change is also very important because it shows the devs taking a stance: Buffbots and 23/7 AFK grinding are not OK. They are not the way to play the game.

As NewJedi judiciously pointed out in the huge announcement thread, SWG was always supposed to rely on its player base to provide goods, services, act out the GCW, ... Buffbots were no more than player made NPC's corrupting that vision.

Woohoo!!!!

Wow, someone ignorant enough to think i'm a buffbot... I've posted guides on how to kill them! Ignorant ignorant ignorant. I don't think i've ever been quite as insulted as this man has before! If you actually read my total post, I intend to make a macro similar to this post removal for CoB, which needs to be recursive to get the maximum effect, as well as a basic band flourish macro for me and my droid.
