Thread: Ok, if everyone says i cant afk.. why do they?
Wish i had taken a screenshot, but it was a rather funny site... I was in the endor cantina (before the patch and mission nerf of course), performing, and not afk (wow, thats a momentous event in itself)..
I had an audience of about 5 ppl... ALL AFK
they were all getting healed by me while they were *AFK*
so, if i am suppose to sit there and be all chirpy chatting etc, and non-afk, what about my audience..
hmmm... oh well something to think about 
Well, they don't complain, we do. So it doesn't matter if they are AFK or not.
There really isn't much to think about here, they come to get healed by us, so if they want to go afk to take a nature break while I heal them after they said hello or whatever I don't have a problem with it at all. For all I know they've just been killing Tusken raiders for hours on end.
Look at it from their end, I went to Naboo last night and well, that was scary, I think there were 2 entertainers at keyboard out of 15 entertainers who were there...

This is interesting. It's contradictory, but interesting. You have to set a standard and that standard has to exist equally for everyone or your standard is worthless overall. In this case you are saying it is ok for one set of people to play the game afk but not another. How is killing mobs for 4 hours different than flourishing for 4 hours?? As far as Naboo goes, avoid the cantina's with 80 people there, you can make better money in other places like Nym's. If you want to socialize more, go hunting with a group. So far, all I keep seeing is people complaining about something they themselves can fix, but refuse to fix because of what, pride??
Naboo? Where at Theed perhaps? Theed has always been like that,grind capital of the galaxy.
The majority of people complaining about afk entertainers are entertainers on these boards and not theplayers getting healed. Most of them could care less since they dont need to tip the bot and are glad its there when no live entertainer would even show up.The few non entertainers that do complain are the ones that love to roleplay 24/7
The entertainers that complain do bring up some valid points but some of their thinking is flawed. AFK entertainers are not what gives the professions a bad name.They dont help the image but they didnt cause it.
This game's approach to healing/buffing and having 3 different damage pools is part of the problem.Forcing the players to get healed by us isnt the problem it's where they force healing to take place.Not having the ability to heal in the field without the need for a tent or cantina is damaging.They resent the fact that they have to come to town to get rid of BF. With the latest patch to test combat medics now can heal mind damage which should help the players alot. But until BF can be healed in campsites the grumbling will continue.
There's no contradiction, as entertainer you choose to flourish for 4 hours so the least you can do is be there while you are doing it. Why else did you pick entertainer ?
And I cannot fix this, I can leave when someone decides to afk bot in my favorite place right in front of the stairs there, but I can NOT fix it. I can only refuse the guild he is a part of, denyservice all their members, just like I removed their tailorshop location from my list of tailors on my server.

Not pride, nostalgia. There was a time when AFK entertainers weren't so abundant, and playing in cantinas was fun.

If someone I never met thinks lowly of my master title because chances are I have not done anything to earn it, then macroboting is the only thing that caused it.

People think that because an entertainer has absolutely no danger in their progression. Blaming everything on the afk bot is just taking an easy way out. The real blame is on SOE's shoulders, not other players. Other players are just playing the game to their desire withint, I repeat within the game parameters. Next you will be blaming the striker for kciking a goal because the goalie wasn't ready. The game allows them to do it, they pay for the opportunity to utilitze the game so.....Don't hate the player, hate the game!
